The bend is way extreme, I can't bend it back.
Got any pictures?
Also, if you bent it one way, you should be able to bend it back at least once. You shouldn't significantly weaken it unless you do it a few times.

Take out the RAM, and bend it back the other way.
If that's cracked, like it seems to be, put a dab of superglue in there.
Take out the RAM, and bend it back the other way.
I can't, I've tried and it just goes back to that angle.

Do you think the little split between the plastic bits on that arm has anything to do with it?
Listen, this is fixable. I bent all the pins on my CPU socket once (and you only do that once), but I was able to get them all back upright with a comb, two hours, and more patience than a Buddhist monk. This is a much smaller problem.

Did you try to remove the RAM by pulling up on it?
Do you think the little split between the plastic bits on that arm has anything to do with it?
It does, that's actually the source of the problem, the other pegs don't have it.
It does, that's actually the source of the problem, the other pegs don't have it.
Great. You've found your problem.
Apply a drop (A DROP) of superglue to that cracked area, and bend it back. It should hold once the glue dries, so hold it for five minutes or so.
It's a lot like fixing a crack in bent plywood, since the plys are held in that shape by the tension of the surrounding plys. If one ply cracks, the entire form opens up. You just add a bead of wood glue, clamp it back down, and let the joint set itself again.
Did you try to remove the RAM by pulling up on it?
No, I think I tried to make room for the ram to go back in by pushing the peg out too hard and it just cracked. When I was removing it, I pulled the pegs away and everything worked fine.
Ahaha. I just realized why my iPad keeps dying all the time. For WWDC I disabled the smart cover turning off the display so I could still listen on my walk home, and I never turned it back on. Wow I feel like a friggin idiot.
Can someone help me get rid of the "Other" data on my 4S? I have 2.3 gigs of other data but when I go to my app usage, the total extra data from apps only adds up to about 30 MB's... I already tried backup and restore.
i'm a long term web dev guy using linux that might get a macbook for the pretty fonts and using sketch etc
will the retina gimmick get in the way of my web design?
will it be harder for me to develop sites etc for non retina displays?
I'm running a retina MBP and I'd say it's the other way around. Just develop as normal and use @2x images where necessary.

Unless you mess around with it, a Retina MacBook has a maximum displayed resolution of 1920x1200.
Unless you mess around with it, a Retina MacBook has a maximum displayed resolution of 1920x1200.
What happened to 2560x1600 and 2880 x 1800?
They're not enabled by default.
They're not enabled by default.
Fair enough :-) I've only ever seen the full res in a fullscreen application so I just assumed!
Unless you mess around with it, a Retina MacBook has a maximum displayed resolution of 1920x1200.
scaled resolution
[editline]8th June 2014[/editline]
the panel is still running at 2560x1600 or 2880x1800. you just have the workspace like 1920x1200
[editline]8th June 2014[/editline]
They're not enabled by default.
again, by standard the 13" by default runs at 2560x1600 with UI scaling made to have it look alike to a 1280x800 display. you still always benefit from the high pixel density
even in the display settings when you hover over a resolution setting, it says 'looks like x resolution'
for reference, you can get third party applications to make it run at 2560x1600 without any scaling, i always run at this setting :x
Yes, of course it's native resolution, but it's only showing a 1920x1200 or 1280x800 workspace. You're just being nitpicky. Since he's doing web design, he only needs to care about what resolution the browser is seeing, which is the aforementioned scaled ones.
erm, i'm not being nitpicky. i'm just saying that saying it has a maximum displayed resolution of 1200p is wrong
What happened to 2560x1600 and 2880 x 1800?
Don't use anything like 2560x1600 on the 15, it's way too close to native for the huge performance impact the offscreen rendering causes. 1920x1200 for scaled max or just run native.
...had you told me back when I'd bought this curious little stowaway running Tiger that it'd be running 10.10 - six consecutive upgrades in a row - without even stopping for a gasp... and perhaps it's somewhat glad it's finally seen Apple learn to crack open her windows somewhat and let some of the outside world in. But I'd still have otherwise expected 10.11 to be an opportunity for one of Apple's mythical burnt-bridge migrations!

(Steve Jobs wouldn't have stood for that: clearly Tim Cook doesn't know how to run a company of Apple's distinction. Dump AAPL now!)

And I'm sure as well some designer hidden away on GNOME's UI/UX team finally adding "pre-empted Apple" to their resume as well - their gamble's finally been offered validation; fat-and-rich titlebars are now officially Unremarkable.
I think you need to use the install media/partition for that.
I'm sure there's a DMG tucked yay inside the installer package that should suffice as well if you use a DMG-friendly image manager with to spin up some custom installer bouts media.

Nevermind, the restore fixed it and now its only at 1000 megs. I can't wait to get a 32 gig 5S, 16 is just not enough.

Yeesh those windows buttons are dull.
they look fine. window buttons don't have to be anything other than simple
[editline]8th June 2014[/editline]
the only thing i don't like about 10.10 aesthetic wise is the new finder icon
Yeesh those windows buttons are dull.
I like them, but then again, I don't feel like every part of a UI has to be spectacular or flashy. As long as they do what they're supposed to, they can be as utilitarian as they want.
is the battery life better than with windows?
How nice does it play with touch control?
