That's the first time I've seen a small version of the big iPhone HouseBrick.
Anybody know what that's all about?
Nobody showed an essentially constructed iPhone 5 4 months before it came out.

Can I also just mention that the home buttons in those pictures are not centred between the bottom of the device and the bottom of the display which would be extremely unusual from a design standpoint. The front camera on the smaller device is also ridiculously close to the top bezel and there'd be no room to stick a sensor of any decent size there if it was indeed designed that way.

Supposed back shot from the very same source. Fake as hell. The plastic lines are way too thick for what they need to do and the dual LED flash is gone.
It looks a lot like a 3D render to me
Here's a website showing a bunch of comparison shots of the supposed mock-up.
http://sonnydickson.com/2014/05/22/a-visual-look-at-apples-iphone-6-vs-previous-iphones/
What gets me the most is the mock-up having a thicker bezel than the larger smartphones.
I love my 5s, but I'm slightly let down by the build quality
Everything is really nice and it feels great in my hand, but there is a slight clicking sound when I apply pressure to the screen as if the adhesive has come loose and keeps sticking and unsticking when I press down on it
also the weird screen problem with the yellow tinge at the top, and the really bright white part at the bottom, other than that everything is awesome and I'm glad to finally have a phone that does what it's supposed to do with no gimmicks

Sounds like you got a bad one, take it to the Apple store
Sounds like you got a bad one, take it to the Apple store
I looked up the problem and it looks like loads of people are having the same issues, it's not a big enough problem to warrant travelling all the way to my nearest apple store which is like 2 hours away
If I ever happen to be there I'll get it checked out but at the moment I'm cool, everything else is great
yeah, that clicking problem with definitely be of note at an apple store. sign of further future damage from a manufacturing fault etc.

Aight, if I ever happen to be near one I'll check and ask
Hi guys, haven't posted on FP for the better part of 3/4 years (it's good to be back), my question is, does anyone (in the UK) have experience with Apple Finance, is it good and the best to get a macbook in the UK?
my sister is on finance for her MBP and she doesn't seem to have any problems with it
my sister is on finance for her MBP and she doesn't seem to have any problems with it
which MBP does she have?
2012 non retina, though the base retina is only £100 cheaper so i doubt it's that much of a different experience

and last thing, i forgot to ask, how long is the finance for in months, how much interest does she pay and how much does she fork out per month?
not certain, i'll have to ask her about it
[editline]15th June 2014[/editline]
http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/finance/loan has plenty of information
really depends on your situation, i was able to pay for my rMBP in a lump sum, but since she's in uni she's more capable of paying that way
and last thing, i forgot to ask, how long is the finance for in months, how much interest does she pay and how much does she fork out per month?
I asked in store and you need to be working about 16 hours a week to qualify, and ontop of that you need a solid credit history. A used one on ebay is a good shout, if you can stand one with a few scratches and nicks you can save a lot.
I know you specified that it was in the UK, but I did do the financing in the US. Although I just did it one week and paid the whole thing off in the full with the next paycheck. I just wanted the credit. I know if you do the minimum payments you will not pay for the whole thing before the 12 months and you'll get screwed pretty heavily by interest. I ended up getting a fully loaded 13" rMBP by the way. The 15 was too big for what I'm doing.
Got my rMBP 15" today, boots in 10 seconds and is very nice to use, battery hardly drops when browsing which is awesome. Any good apps I should know about?
Mplayer OSX Extended is a great video player if Quicktime doesn't fit your needs
SizeUp if you like controlling windows with your keyboard or through a context menu in the top bar
Wine is always useful if you want to run some small windows applications that don't have an OS X version

Clementine is a good music player aside from iTunes also
I seriously injured myself trying to move a PowerMac G5.
I really wasn't expecting it to be that heavy.
So VLC isn't playing any of my videos anymore, flv or otherwise. I only get sound but no window pops up with the video. Anyone know why this might be the case?
Have you made sure in the settings you actually have a rendering method for the video?

How seriously? Pulled back? Hernia? Chest ripped open, expelling all your vital organs?

Pulled back, I guess it's not too bad but existing is pretty painful right now. No idea how it happened, I was lifting with the knees and everything, just must have been awkward somehow.

I guess something got messed up in the settings somehow but resetting the video settings fixed it.

Probably just lifted wrong. Those things weigh a solid thirty pounds empty.
I'm actually considering picking up an old G5 case on eBay or something when I build my next desktop. It's a deal cheaper than most of what you can find in that price range, and it looks better too.

That's exactly what I was doing, I bought a fully working one for £50 shipped (cause the cheapest case by itself was £80) and am in the process of deconstructioning it.

Oh, cool! Keep us posted, will you? Maybe in the DIY thread over in Maker Mates, it's needs a little life every now and then.
I'm interested to see how your build goes. Planning to keep part arrangement mostly stock, or are you going to move things around a bit?
iOS Beta 2 was just released

Moving about, I've gone Full ATX so it will encroach into the top shelf. Going to make an inner bracket to hold some bigger fans for the front..
I'll probably post in the DIY forum when I'm done and happy with it, but until now any updates will be here, or you can add me on steam if you'd like.
Does anyone want to help figure this out? The left is what actually appears on the device. Sorry for quality, it was taken with an HTC One M7 using the old faulty omnivision sensor. The right side is what appears when you take a screenshot. I figure it has something to do with the blur layering and how iOS saves what's being rendered to a PNG but that's just some crazy hypothesis. The screenshots shouldn't be different from what you see on screen, especially not that much.

Oh and just a note, the color and alpha difference isn't that large, the HTC One M7 camera really sucks. But there is definitely a difference in darkness and transparency from what gets shown on the iPhone. I think it has something to do with effects that are applied to images in the frame buffer and so when they're dumped for screenshots they don't show up.
