Themes can be nice, that just happens to one of the worse ones I'm using "Zanilla"
that looks like it'd be really hard to distinguish at phone size
that looks like it'd be really hard to distinguish at phone size
If you mean the icon colour/background being similar, it's very different on the iPhones screen I have no trouble anyway, and it's not like the wallpaper can't be changed, I just chose the first standard one that took my fancy
I really like Ayeris.

As for your skin, I agree that it looks fine. I don't know if .Lain meant that some of the icons are harder to distinguish from each other than stock iOS which is the only thing I don't like about it.
iMessage on mac keeps telling me it can't activate and to try again later. I've searched google only to find nothing that works. Any tips?

It's fine. I'm not running a hackintosh but my mac is unsupported.
Thanks for your opinions everyone. I guess I should never get a job in design - I was someone who thought iOS 6 was the most beautiful iOS ever made and that iOS 7 looked like pure garbage. I'll continue tweaking my theme setup, maybe go back to a theme with universal app shapes and stuff. Apart from the themes suggested already, anyone recommend anything?

You can't let anyone convince you otherwise. If you do, it isn't truly yours, and you're just trying to squeeze yourself into conventions and molds that aren't made for you.
If you like it, it's good.
This mentality is why so many horrible products exist in the world. Poor Jony Ive, he must feel like the world is filled with insane people. Design isn't even remotely as subjective as people like to think, there are things that are very clearly good or bad design based on how humans interact with things. Or how humans perceive things. It's pretty widely accepted that there are certain ratios and degrees of symmetry that are inherently appealing and that's why icons that are the same size are more appealing to most people than ones of radically different size and shape.
Whoever was asking about an ability to reset a mac (removing users and booting to the setup assistant), do you need that still?

You're not honestly suggesting that an entity other than the owner of a product have complete control over that product after it has left their hands, are you? I'm honestly not concerned with the psychological effects of bad design, or the different ways people interact with things based on aesthetic value. That's all entirely objective, but it doesn't affect me, and I don't tend to concern myself with things that don't affect me. Perhaps you shouldn't either.
If I bought Mountain Lion from apple and received a code for it from the app store, would I be able to download it so I could put it on a mac I have that cannot get on the internet or would the app store tell me I can't because I'm not supported even though I bought it?
Kinda old question, If you can find a way to download the OS, I can help you put it on the mac. To my knowledge, I'm not sure if you can download 10.8 outside of the app store. If you're already on 10.8 I don't know if they'll let you download it again.. I know you can with Mavericks, but I don't see ML on the app store. The installers are bootable, fyi.

But thanks for your advice, I'll remember it should it ever become relevant to me.
You're not honestly suggesting that an entity other than the owner of a product have complete control over that product, are you?
You realize you're running OS X right? The OS where the manufacturer has remote blocked Java for security reasons. Complete control is letting users stay vulnerable, Apple doesn't give complete control.
Thinking about getting an ipad, but i haven't been keeping up with apple lately. Should I just wait for a new gen to come out? Or is it going to be awhile
Thinking about getting an ipad, but i haven't been keeping up with apple lately. Should I just wait for a new gen to come out? Or is it going to be awhile
Late October. Whether it's worth waiting or not is up to you. It's likely to have Touch ID but the benefits of that on a tablet are unknown, and Apple's A7 is pretty fast. The thing is, as a former iPad Mini Retina owner, the 1GB of RAM on Apple's A7 just isn't enough for 64-bit iOS on iPad. Apps get evicted from memory way too quickly, sometimes I couldn't even switch between two Safari tabs without having to reload it every time. As someone who struggled with keeping multiple apps like Pages, Safari, and iBooks all loaded simultaneously for note taking, I personally cannot recommend the current iPads. From what I've heard with people familiar with the matter, the thing being said about Apple's future A8 is "expect Haswell" which to me means that the IPC (instructions per cycle) is going to be ridiculous and that Apple may pull off another 2x performance jump which is crazy because A7 is already well ahead of the best from Qualcomm and Samsung. 2GB of RAM is also a given, 64-bit iOS isn't doable with 1GB for the long term, especially on tablets which have more RAM used up than the 5s by keeping frames in the frame buffer due to their resolution. GPU is also something that definitely needs a performance boost since A7 is the first time Apple has fallen significantly behind any other vendor for GPU performance. The GPU will definitely be something massive like a PowerVR G6630 or G6650, the latter is unlikely due to Apple's timeline though.
I'm going to have to agree with Kaabii here. I'd wait for the next iPad, if it's not urgent. I've got an iPad Air, and the RAM limitations are more annoying than you'd at first believe. It's manageable, but it's far from the great experience Apple is known for.

I swear my MacBook came with a dodgy caps lock, seems to require a little too much force and half the key never seems to trigger the caps lock when I need it. Advice?
I swear my MacBook came with a dodgy caps lock, seems to require a little too much force and half the key never seems to trigger the caps lock when I need it. Advice?
Take to Apple Store. It's literally always worth a shot, even if they say no. They're pretty good about that sort of thing too.
My local Apple Store once replaced an entire logic board in a Mac Pro for free even though the machine was long out of AppleCare.
Hey uh, do you guys think 8GB is good enough for the rMBP 13?
M
Hey uh, do you guys think 8GB is good enough for the rMBP 13?
As long as you're not a power user it'll be fine.
M As long as you're not a power user it'll be fine.
So would running games be fine at standard resolutions and some iMovie/Final Cut and maybe Ableton?
So would running games be fine at standard resolutions and some iMovie/Final Cut and maybe Ableton?
I'd say you'll be fine, for games you'll run into the GPU wall far before RAM and 8gb will be plenty unless you're doing ultra high complexity 1080p+ editing.

I guess I'll be fine then, thanks!
Also, my other question is to do with the display and keyboard. Is this kind of flaw still there with the marking and all? Or did Apple fix this flaw a year later after the Retina release?
