Does stream even work? It says I cant view in chrome
It's never worked in Chrome, silly as it is. Only in OSX and only in Safari.
damn the iwatch is pretty ugly
My rule of thumb with new apple products is to skip the first version. They always make a few big mistakes on the first runaround that are fixed by the time the second iteration comes out the following year.
Prob gonna get the 6 or 6Plus this year then Apple Watch V2 when it comes out.
I'd like to get a Watch if only because it'll let me use my own headphones without having to take it out of my pocket to change songs all the time.
But I probably won't since it'll still cost a rib to buy.
Responding to texts that have questions in them off the watch is super cool!
Ooh, getting directions with Maps seems funky.
Eyy, they have more Kits! I thought we wouldn't see one today.
Why the eff would you even want to check your twitter timeline on your watch? Seriously, why on earth would you want to do that?

Some of the stuff is just filler material. Why would you want to view photos on a 1.5" screen either?

some people are addicted to twitter
Oh
It's $349
Guess I won't be getting an Apple Watch any time soon.
349 USD.
I guess selling a kidney will do?
No word on battery life or specs, but the resolution is probably much higher than the Android Wear smart watches.
New U2 album for free? Well shit, no reason to NOT check it out!
I kinda like U2 so I'm happy with that.
I think I'm going to wait until the 6 is in stores before I decide if the 5.5 Plus screen is worth it.
I like the design of the new iPhones. I'm on a 4S still and will definitely upgrade.
Anyone here on AT&T? Is there "Next" upgrade promotion optional (get phone $0 down and pay $27 monthly) because I plan on getting this phone but fuck that payment plan. Can I still do the typical pay $200 for renewed contract and not pay out the ass every month?
I'm looking at upgrading to the 6 soon. The 6+ just seems way too big for what I do. I'll probably pick up the second-gen Apple Watch when that comes out, admittedly not a huge fan of this one.
Also, what's up with that home screen? It looks so... messy. Sloppy. Disjoint. I can't say I'm a huge fan.

Kinda reminds me of the iPad's layout
I didn't like the Apple Watch when I first saw it.
But with the right band, and when you actually see it on the wrist. Dayum that looks nice
Why the FUCK didn't they make 32GB the standard storage size?? They obviously felt it was cheap enough to upgrade the mid tier to 64... This is almost sinister, god damnit
Kinda reminds me of the iPad's layout
Oh, sorry, I meant the homescreen on the Watch, not the iPhone.
The iPhone layout looks fine, more or less.
I find it silly how Apple talks about fragmentation on Android but they keep announcing hacks to get applications to work on different kinds of devices, although Cocoa is already able to run anything regardless of the resolution
By hacks you mean scaling applications that are designed for pixel accuracy on a certain resolution? I'd love to see your other proposal. The scaling is actually done extremely well because they can render all text at the proper resolution and then use their filtering and scaling algorithms (most likely the same as on OS X on the retina macbook) to get the application to fill the display. From what I've heard from colleagues at the event it's nearly impossible to tell the applications are being scaled up.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh and in general, iPhone 6 is solid IMO. Display resolution is not what I had hoped but putting both phones at 1920x1080 backs them into a corner marketing wise so I can see why they did it. Camera is solid with the new ISP. I wish they had moved to a higher resolution to do 4K record but they already had to put a protruding lens to keep the 8MP sensor height on the thinner design. I think some of the concessions made to get a thinner design weren't worth it but I'm not the one who has to sell the thing so it doesn't matter to me.
CPU and GPU were expected by me. Diminishing returns with increasing transistor counts, and the fact that A7 is still faster than every other Android, Windows Phone, or any other smartphone on the market means that it doesn't really matter if it's 25% faster or 25 times faster because it's still the fastest (though if they could do 25x faster and keep battery obviously that'd be preferred.) GPU is concerning because Apple had a huge GPU lead a few years ago with the A5 and that left entirely this generation with Adreno 330, let alone Adreno 420 in S805. I think IMG Tech's architecture and TBDR is hitting a wall, I've heard it doesn't scale up well.
Tim or someone else called it the biggest advancement in iPhone history. I don't think that's true regardless of what metrics you decide to use. I think either the 5 -> 5s with the improvements to camera, Apple A7, Apple M7, Touch ID, and iOS 7 is arguably the biggest jump. A case can also be made for the 3GS -> 4 with the retina display, Apple A4, Camera, and design. A4 wasn't a huge leap over the 3GS's Samsung SoC though so that's why I'm not sure about ranking it as the biggest jump. 5s -> 6 and 6 plus are solid improvements but A8 definitely isn't the leap we saw with A7, bigger displays but density disappoints on the 4.7", and camera improvements that are solid but not what we're used to seeing.
One final note. There's something I've complained about in this thread, particularly relating to iPads. I don't think this is officially confirmed except via Geekbench so I'm not going to say how I know for certain already, but this thing has not been resolved with the Apple A8 and it's a massive disappointment.
As for the Apple Watch, all I can say is that I find it hilarious to see people saying it's copying/following Android Wear. This thing has been in development for YEARS! There have been rumors about it for much longer than the few months we've had Android Wear watches, and it was being developed long before said rumors even began.
Can anyone explain the difference in price between the UK and US for the iPhone 6? Even with carrier contract discounts and 20% tax the numbers just don't work out.
I can't help but feel the UK is getting shafted!

cost to import/import tax/different radio chipsets probably
Import taxes, shipping costs, having to provide longer warranties. You guys pay more for a lot of electronics, even when factoring in the tax.
I assume having a chair roll over the charging cable multiple times per day isn't a good thing?

Something nobody has mentioned but it's huge. iPhone 6 does FaceTime encoding in HEVC(H.265) when both devices use the A8. That makes the A8 one of the first microprocessors (or the first?) to ship with fixed function hardware for HEVC encode and decode. Snapdragon 805 had decode but no encode so you couldn't record videos in it or anything. I wonder if Apple will open it up for devs so you can record HEVC movies. Would provide a huge reduction in file size for a given quality, or way higher quality for a given file size.

If we're going to be recording 1080p, 60FPS footage from that camera, we're going to need it.
EDIT: So, do you guys think someone will end up making a standard watch strap adapter? Something that'll let you use standard watch bands with the Watch, rather than having to rely on Apple's offerings? I've always been a fan of raw leather on watches, and I can buy any number of raw leather NATO straps (including one from a guy here!), but Apple isn't selling one for the Watch.
I don't know, that's just something I'd like to see.
