I find that funny because Apple uses the fastest i5 and i7 SKUs that Intel offers. There's no room for improvement in speed.
Mine was a Core 2 Duo right around when first generation mobile i7's were getting into laptops and it also only had a 9600m GT 512mb, so it was, in fact, quite a bit slower than their gaming 'laptops'. However it felt way faster for general use so idgaf.
Was in a long doubt of getting the iPhone 6 or an Android flagship phone, went for the iPhone anyway. Can't let go off iOS...
hey guys, i recently got a hold of my dad's ipad (he died recently) and i was wondering if there was a way i could get past his code to back up the stuff he had on it before i restore
Assuming you haven't restored it yet, you can use phoneview or sneuti to view everything and copy what you need. I don't know of a way to get around the passcode and use the device or back it up to itunes though. Might be worth some research.
All the self proclaimed 'tech guys'(read: 12-14 year olds who played Minecraft and thought they were geniuses because of it) at my school took great joy in making fun of my MacBook Pro, calling it too expensive and too slow.
I took great fun in giving them the finger when they begged me to fix their Asus G series and Alienwares because they dropped them once or the thing just fell apart within a year or they got a virus because they turned off Norton(lol) while my Core 2 Duo MBP continued to truck along for more than 3 without any major problems and still felt as fast as the day I got it. I really miss my Mac.

I get that Mac is comfortable and stuff, but as a person that thinks and knows how to use google IF I have problem with my PC, I cant justify buying Mac. 13-14 old morrons that dont know how computers work are not good example of Windows users. I had my one configuration for 8 years doing just fine, changed it because mainboard and GPU fried under heavy load or something. Now I use this configuration for 5 years with minor changes and Im also doing just fine, even playing brand new games on stable comfortable fps. My brother bought laptop that he really looked after, searched for good one, and had it for 5 years before it really got anything bad. It was still cheaper alot than any Mac.

I go for macs mainly, because I find them amazing for programming.

This. I've also used PCs for at least 15 years but there's no way I'm going back from my Mac now when it comes to productivity and programming. Even when it comes to the occasional gaming sessions my macbook works fine.

I've been ogling the iPhone 6 but it just doesn't feel that appealing (except for the iOS 8 and yosemite features coming soon), so I've been thinking about switching to some android handset (coming from an iPhone 5). Even if it's off topic, which android handset should I look into? The 1+1 perhaps?

You can't find a Windows laptop which is as good as the Retina Macbook for cheaper. The only comparable laptop is the XPS 15 QHD and the screen has horrible color and it actually costs more. Razer Blade is on-par but because of the GPU it also costs a lot more.

I just started using Xcode a lot for university and it makes every other IDE I've used look like garbage. I still like Netbeans but it doesn't compare, and Eclipse is lol.
Got the six after standing in line for four hours. Worth every penny.

A million times better than my nexus 5.

If you don't like Apple products, why are you in the thread? If you're just going to try to start arguments, why not just leave? Obviously you don't have any real reason to be here, outside of judging people for their purchases.
IOS 8 seems to be abit buggy on my sister's iPad 2, is she the only one with this issue?
Anybody have an ipad retina mini on IOS8? Apples servers are being hammered and i can't download it yet.
IOS 8 seems to be abit buggy on my sister's iPad 2, is she the only one with this issue?
I don't think she's alone. There have been a number of articles telling people not to update to iOS 8 on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S yet.

It's also not just about raw power either.
Apple's stuff are really well made bits of kit, most brands who make windows laptops cut corners unless you look at the business stuff.

I got a space grey 6 with 128gb, but I can't set it up cause my SIM hasn't arrived in the post yet >:c

Ugh, what? Where I said that I dont like Apple? I really asked why, and you say that I hate Apple. I want to hear what I dont understand.
@Kaabii, you can find Windows laptop as good as Macbook, cheaper, but not good at what you want, probably. He is not programer, or casual Joe.
I don't really care about my laptop OS but I wish Windows laptop makers could make a good looking one like a Macbook.
get a 1+1 if screen size and slightly better specs are what you want
get a nexus 5 if you can take slightly worse specs and want a phone that you can use with one hand
I'd like to mention that the 1+1 has a larger battery and will last you longer throughout the day.
my Nexus 5 has shitty as fuck battery life and it just barely lasts me the school day.

It's not just that. S801 is way better for battery life than S800.
i wish the nexus 5 would have better battery
If the Nexus 5 had a 3000mAh battery instead of a 2300mAh, I'd love it forever because it would actually last the whole day for me. Or give me another hour of screen on time since I get around 2-3 hours per full charge. If LG provided some upgrade service to upgrade the internal battery to 3000mAh, I'd probably go for it. The battery technology is probably there by now. I was even thinking of getting one of those battery cases like this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IMOCZOA but it's looking pretty fat. I guess I'll stick with my Xiaomi 10400mAh power bank I lug around with me anyways.
the 1+1's size is a dealbreaker for me, i don't think i'd ever be able to use it comfortably
I came from this thing, know on the Android Thread on FP as the Sony Potato SK17a. Here is a direct comparison of it and the Nexus 5 (white).
[t]http://i.imgur.com/iXsoBoJ.jpg[/t]
It was a drastic jump from using a 3-inch Android-powered potato brick that lags a lot to a new, high-end, 5-inch Google Nexus flagship smartphone. It did take me some time to get used to the size because I still thought it was frigging huge. It's like being used to driving around in a small sedan and then jumping onto a minivan or pick-up truck. I guess it took me about a week to really get myself comfortable to using it in one hand. Whenever I went back to my old potato, it felt hilariously small and slow. I still find it comical that I managed to use this small thing for ~2.5 years, browse FP, watch stuff, took photos, typed various documents and played video games on this small 3-inch display. Now I'm used to the size and design of my Nexus 5.
The size and feel of the Nexus 5 itself is better for my hands than the 1+1. I only used the 1+1 as my daily driver for one day before I quit mid-day because of the annoying as shit touch screen issues. It should be fixed with the next OTA update that is supposedly coming out this week or later this month. But until then, Nexus 5 is daily driver. I'd probably have to use the 1+1 as my daily driver for a week before I get used to it and actually get used it it's slightly larger size. It is a lot harder to use with one hand than the Nexus 5. The sandstone black doesn't really feel great in my hands but once again, if I use it more I'd probably like it more eventually. Or get a case and make it feel like the back of my white Nexus 5. I choose the white Nexus 5 because I didn't really like the grippy back of the black Nexus 5 a whole lot and I knew the plastic would peel off eventually just like the back of my Sony potato phone.

Sony Vaio Pro
Asus Zenbook 301LA
Samsung Ativ book (2014)
Sony Vaio Pro
Asus Zenbook 301LA
Samsung Ativ book (2014)
Asus Zenbooks look very good, but the build quality varies. Some are good, but every Zenbook I Owned so far, had severe screen bleeding.
And I would never trust samsung to design a laptop. They look decent, but simply judging from the fact that you can brick certain Ativ models by simply booting Linux on them with UEFI. This shit is an absolute nuclear no-go.
Never owned a Sony Vaio pro, but they look pretty great.
Seems like it's either the 1+1 or the nexus 5 I should check out first then, thanks guys!
Regarding sony's vaio line of notebooks, I've never encountered a laptop with as many problems as one of those. My ex girlfriend had one and it had some very peculiar problems. It freezed constantly and went dead for days until waking up like nothing had happened. That combined with the swedish sony support treating her like shit kept me from buying a vaio (I had considered it before all of this). She sent it in for inspection 5 times, but they refused to replace it, probably because they couldn't replicate the problem during their brief diagnoses. It was still under warranty, and when she got it back the last time, the upper case was separated from the lower case due poor reassembly. The customer support from apple is almost an argument alone for buying a macbook.

Note that this was a 2012 year old vaio pro model, so things might have changed, but still

I've heard that they aren't built all that well, apparently the entire chassis flexes when you type on it

I like how that came out from the Apple thread
I've heard that they aren't built all that well, apparently the entire chassis flexes when you type on it
I've had my Vaio Pro 13 for a year now, and I've never had that problem. If you press really hard, and I mean like trying to penetrate through the laptop hard, it bends a lot. But you don't do that, so it isn't really a problem.
I really do like the keyboards on Sony Vaio, it's similar to Apple macbook keyboards.
