No quad core option?
[editline]16th October 2014[/editline]
Or upgrading it past integrated graphics, that's kinda lame.
the new Mac Minis make me very sad, but the price drops was pretty nice
[editline]16th October 2014[/editline]
might sell my 1st gen iPad Mini and get the iPad Air 2
Well, looks like I'll be staying with my MacBook pro 2011 a little longer.

A little may turn into 15 months depending on Intel.

Also Mini 3 is A7. Wow. Same gross display color, same 1GB of RAM, same 64bit bus.
the Mini 3 is just the Mini 2 with Touch ID
Before you get all happy about the Mac mini keep in mind that it comes with an ultrabook CPU.
The $700 version comes with a normal cpu
There's nothing to be excited/happy for when it comes to the new Mac Mini.
Did the original Air have the orientation lock switch? That switch is way better than the Control Center stuff. The new one does not.
The 5K iMac is awesome, but I can't really justify spending 3100$ on it.
And the Mac Mini refresh doesen't really have that much speed/RAM/Space improvement to justify it over my current Macbook pro.
why is apple charging a $100 difference between the ipad mini 2 and 3 when the only difference is that the mini 3 has a fingerprint sensor?
Man the iPad Mini 3 is weird.. It is really just the fucking TouchID you are paying a 100$ extra for, everything else is exactly the same..
What

Because nobody was thinking when they created it. A7 is an actual insult because it's an n-2 chip again just like the original mini. Air 2 and Retina iMac were the exciting announcements today.
I wonder when they will do a retina Cinema display refresh, because computers are really lagging behind phones and tablets when it comes to screen resolution, and a stand-alone monitor would surely be a great step towards affordable high-res monitors.
I think the whole continuity idea in Yosemite is pretty neat, although I don't have any iOS devices.
Aw crap.

Anyone have Yosemite running on the 2014 MBA 11"/4GB/i5? Is it worth upgrading from 10.9.5 right away?
Anyone have Yosemite running on the 2014 MBA 11"/128/i5? Is it worth upgrading from 10.9.5 right away?
I've been running the beta on a 2013 MBA and I'd say it's worth picking up.
The only issue I had is that wi-fi sometimes wouldn't connect coming from sleep but turning wi-fi off and on again (of course) fixed it every single time, without fail.
[del]Aaaaand Yosemite is GONE from the App Store.[/del]
No wait it's just not on the sidebar

Iris graphics though! That's pretty rad compared to previous Mac Mini offerings.

I guess, but the price for an Iris Mac Mini isn't great and the base model one is just pointless.
Huh. The 5k iMac has a TFT display. Interesting.

Think of it this way, the price on the newest iPad Mini hasn't gone up so much as the price of the last-gen iPad Mini has gone down. The iPad Mini with Retina was always $399. Now the $399 option has a fingerprint scanner, and the old one is $299. Biggest reason for the price difference is overall pricing structure, not feature set.
The iPad Mini is now $199, the iPad Mini with Retina Display is $299, and the new ones are $399. It looks nice on paper, doesn't really mean anything in the consumer space.

You realize every LCD uses TFTs right?
You realize every LCD uses TFTs right?
Isn't that literally what an LCD is?

OG Mini is actually $249. If you don't pay the $50 to go retina and A7 you're crazy, I don't care how budget limited you are.

Yes.

Yes.
Oh yeah, guess it is $249. So they dropped it by $50, not $100. Someone should go tell Forbes they're wrong.

You're right, I was confusing TN with TFT.
Any idea when new MacBook pros could be announced?
Next year, maybe around next June or July.
Happy so far with the Yosemite update. The only thing I wish they could do with Safari is that when swiping back and forth from a page that they make it instant, its now very near instant but still not quite there.
I have a question, is that stat from keynote, that Safari is 6 times faster, is that a real world performance that matters and is visible? If it is, how?
you would have to be a complete idiot to buy an original ipad mini
It's also really bad for developers that Apple is keeping the A5 around. Like, this was a really irresponsible decision on Apple's part.
