HALP GUYS! I'm trying to use iMessage and FaceTime, but everytime I active iMessage (and Facetime) over Setting>Messages | FaceTime I get thi message: iMessage Activation An error occurred during activation. Try again. I already try reset networking settings but doesn't worked for me. has anyone had this problem before?
the Mini 3 is just the Mini 2 with Touch ID
for a second I thought you were talking about the Mac Mini and was really confused
5 minutes into using Yosemite, my only peeve now is how they now used the maximise for "full screen". Holding the option key then hovering over the green button lets me do that though, just trying to see if there is a setting to change that around. If not then yeah, change is change! I almost like it. It's early days.
Is this a Hackintosh?
iPhone 5s, sorry for not to mentioned that
Is it me or am I becoming dyslexic? I'm finding things hard to read now in Yosemite.
Is it me or am I becoming dyslexic? I'm finding things hard to read now in Yosemite.
On a non-retina display the new font is pretty meh. I'm sure I'll get used to it but as much as I want to like it, the upgrade is overall pretty meh on my late-2011 MBP. The overall design is nice, but again, with the lower res display it looks less precise. On top of that, I can't use most of the continuity features with my iPhone because my MBP doesn't have Bluetooth low energy, and all the translucent effects are slightly taxing my system.
According to the Telstra store person I just spoke to, they just recieved their first shipment of new iPhones since before release day and have no idea when the next one is coming. Should I just buy a 6+ from the Apple website instead? Would that get to me faster or would it have the same delays as Telstra?
I keep toying with the idea of buying a new mac mini just as a proper intro to OSX as they only cost £358 now, but it's the price of the damn keyboard and trackpad that put me off. I have a mate who is a mac user and says that I won't really get the full experience using a PC keyboard and mouse (and for the short time my hackintosh worked properly, I can agree) however adding the keyboard and mouse adds over £100 to the cost, pushing it out of impulse buy territory. I have the option of buying second hand bits from ebay, lowering the price to £60 for both in total, but then I don't get that nice new kit feeling.
what? you'll get the same experience using a PC m/kb. [editline]18th October 2014[/editline] a considerably better experience if you have a nice m/kb, might i add.
I can see how the trackpad might change things a bit (gestures are great) but why would you need an apple keyboard?
From experience, I like a good mechanical keyboard a lot more for OSX than the Apple keyboard. You're not really loosing features. And the touchpad is nice, but I can't see myself working a touchpad for more than 1 hour.
The RAM in the new Mac Mini is soldered on. For the love of God, why?!
I can see how the trackpad might change things a bit (gestures are great) but why would you need an apple keyboard?
The Apple keyboard isn't worth the price but it's nice to have the @ symbol in the right place, along with some of the F keys having shortcut icons on them and two command keys.
Secondly, after one reboot, it takes longer to boot compared to Mavericks. Will that subside in future so OSX boots as fast as Mavericks?
Secondly, after one reboot, it takes longer to boot compared to Mavericks. Will that subside in future so OSX boots as fast as Mavericks?
Try verbose boot, see if there's anything it spends a long time on.
The RAM in the new Mac Mini is soldered on. For the love of God, why?!
They totally ruined that thing.
At least they made it even cheaper I guess. [editline]18th October 2014[/editline] I would love to see them do a "G4 Cube" again, even though the current Mac Pro is already pretty small. It could be marketed as a little brother to the Mac Pro, for the people who want something more powerful than an iMac but less expensive than the Mac Pro.
The RAM in the new Mac Mini is soldered on. The best thing about it is that the last-gen Mac Minis will soon be considerably cheaper. [editline]18th October 2014[/editline]
At least they made it even cheaper I guess. Just gutted mine, by the way, and I'm preparing to fill it with an mITX hackintosh. Or an Intel NUC. Depends on my budget when I start buying parts.
If you can manage to make the power button still work and maybe even re-use the old passive heatsink, that would be pretty amazing.
Passive heat sink has to go, since it takes up too much space, and is hilariously inefficient. If I could have one machined out of copper, I'd consider it, but the material Apple chose doesn't dissipate heat quickly enough. A lot of the builds that use the stock cooler use custom-fabbed copper plates, but I don't have that kind of machinery. I can rewire the power button to a standard 5-pin connector, since it's a self-contained module, and that's probably what I'll end up doing. It's too cool a feature to pass up. Right now, the current plan is to do a mITX Customac with a few tiny Noctua fans for cooling, the Superdrive I'm going to scavenge from my MBP once the warranty runs out and I throw in an SSD, and some plexiglass plates to act as a support skeleton for added rigidity. I want to keep the handle and the power button, since I want to keep it as original as possible. Removing the the central heat sink gives me about an inch and a half of space to play around with, enough to stick a plexiglass rack for 2.5" hard drives. I'm aiming for media center and NAS, so storage is a priority. I'm still trying to decide if I want to go with discrete graphics, although I'd be limited to GeForce 8XXX and 9XXX cards due to size. I think Intel might be the way to go, since there's really nowhere to have graphics card outputs, and heat could be an issue. (I apologize for the rambling. It's 3AM, I can't sleep, and I'm typing on a tablet.)
Eep, anyone else suffering steam disconnections through Yosemite? I've had more than 10 in one sitting already and App-Nap disabled doesn't fix that.
What is the best app to stream movies from my PC to my iPhone?
Eep, anyone else suffering steam disconnections through Yosemite? I've had more than 10 in one sitting already and App-Nap disabled doesn't fix that.
Been suffering it since the first beta.
Been suffering it since the first beta.
So it's a known issue that Apple hasn't fixed? Or is it the Steam side? I just find it confusing.
so how do you use the sms relay feature in added in is8.1? iMessage in Yosemite won't let me message sms contacts. never mind it's under text message forwarding
What is the best app to stream movies from my PC to my iPhone?
Or you can buy Apple TV/Chromecast.
so how do you use the sms relay feature in added in is8.1? iMessage in Yosemite won't let me message sms contacts. never mind it's under text message forwarding
I was eagerly waiting for this feature for months, and when I first used it today, I realized that almost all of my friends were using iPhones anyway by the time it launched. [editline]21st October 2014[/editline] It works great though
