that's my worry, some of these things sound sketchy, the least sketchiest is a guy selling something he got from JB hifi for ~$790 and hasn't been opened yet
I know JB is very hard to steal from since everything is in glass secured storage areas, makes a loud beeping noise if you try to intrude it and when you leave you must show your docket/bag to the person standing at the exit door before leaving

tbh I'm thinking of biting the bullet and buying from apple or in store at JB tbh
best buy was sold out of both 512gb and 256gb rMBP and they're "overnighting" it, meaning it'll get here Tuesday, and there's nowhere else to get one in my city
sigh

Find someone with a Woolworths staff card and go to big w.
So I am thinking about getting my first Apple computer.
Which one should I root for?
Well, what do you need?
I need a computer that I can do Photoshop and mostly web development tools only, however playing some games time to time wouldn't hurt.

Firstly, desktop or laptop form factor?
Secondly, screen size.
Then you can opt for different models spec wise.

big w doesn't sell iPhones?
The screen on my iPhone 5 is lifting up. I bought it used on Swappa but the issue wasn't there when I got it and the screen was replaced in October according to the seller. What's the best way of getting it repaired?
I'm a writer, man, but everything I write I write on my laptop. I couldn't tell you how it does for software development, but Google probably doesn't run an exclusively-Mac setup in their offices for nothing.
fyi: it's a combination of being able to lock it down harder, less infection vectors, and compatibility with google servers

I've seen Big W sell iPhones

Plenty of iPhones in the cabinets on the north side of Brisbane.. Strange.
Google search confirms they do. Maybe it's based on area demographics?

Probably, but retail is expensive
I've gotten a reply on a few gumtree ads I've messaged so I'll probably pursue there, just making sure these people who put these ads up have proof of purchase so I can be ultimately sure the product wasn't stolen (even tho that's still "not enough" to a lot of people)
Finally installed win7 through boot camp. Time for some proper gaming, lads.

I have a rMBP 13" Late 2013, runs beautifully, have been working with illustrator & photoshop on it, as well as webdev. I occasionally play games, and it runs fine. Iris isn't a power house, but it's not entirely bad either. Also, get at minimum the 8gb version - its nice to have the ram, and the extra space is good as well.

Regarding the ram, it's nice that apple finally goes for 8gb minimum nowadays

IIRC the HD5000 performs worse than the HD4600 but it's probably due to better power efficiency.

The 13" doesn't have the HD 5000 anyway, it uses Iris 5100.
Well I bought the iPhone 5s yesterday, 2nd hand from a retail shop doing clearance and I am really liking the experience
So apparently apple reversed the placement of the mic and the speaker at some part, to prevent the speaker from getting covered when held landscape. I was like "What, I still have that problem!"

Wait, people hold their phones landscape like that? I always hold it with my index fingers on the "top" and my middle fingers at the back. More comfortable and no way to drop it.

Yeah I hold it like that too, like a SNES controller. I always block the speaker and just sort of deal with it.

I kinda switch between the two, sometimes I hold it with my index finger covering the top, sometimes I don't. I find having my index finger on the underside of the phone more comfortable.
