I got one of the hybrid drives in my laptop since I can't afford a 500GB SSD and daaaaaaaaaaamn even that makes a huge difference. Faster read speeds off the platter on top of a 4GB cache, so all the boot files are cached and it takes Windows like a solid 8 seconds to boot
[editline]15th May 2013[/editline]
I have a SSD in my desktop but my BIOS takes like 15 seconds to find the boot device so it's not really an upgrade :v:
I may get one of those hybrid drives for my MacBook.
My 120gb OCZ ssd is too small. Guess I can make it an external drive for work stuff.
Real quick question, I'm about to upgrade from 10.6 to 10.8 through the app store download, when I install will all of my data be carried over and still be available or will I lose everything?
Look at what I found

That spot in the top left is some uncleaned gunk on the screen protector.

I purchased this at one point in time. I still have the case for it somewhere
Anyone know some good docks for a 2008 MacBook?
1280x800 is too small for me to work with since I need a billion and two windows open, so I'm getting a Mini-DVI to vga port so I can use my spare monitor with it.
Generally varies from monitor to monitor, lower quality ones have really bad FBT whine
i only really noticed it when I turned CRT screens on tbh
though whiny electronics are fucking bad, I had a shitty cheap laptop that made a tiny almost indiscernible whining sound that was incredibly aggravating

Not even, it's a 2G.

I thought that couldn't even handle a wallpaper according to Apple
unless you JB it

Yeah, his posts in the camp are amusing
It could after iOS 4 I think and it has 4.1.2 installed.
It could after iOS 4 I think and it has 4.1.2 installed.
I'm pretty sure mine never could
It was a pretty dumb decision to not allow wallpapers, it was like a step back
There was a time when iOS was new and unequivocally miles ahead of Android, so I dunno. It was definitely added in a later update.

Not to Android, to phones in general
basically every phone could have user wallpapers but it took ages to be able to change it on iOS
I think it was finally added in 4
Hey I have one simply question for you guys....
I recently got some money and I'm looking for a new tech thing to distract me in trips and free time. I got pretty exited about iPad mini, price, not too big and have a good performance. But WWDC 13 will start in some days (14 june?), do you guys think Apple will announce a new iPad MINI, with retina display and processor A5x?
So... what u guys think, buy a ipad mini (with 4g) or wait until WWDC?
They've never announced a consumer product at WWDC - they've only really just warmed over the pro lines then.

Anywhere rumoring the A5X is just wrong. They don't even have fabs set up to make it anymore, and it's too slow. The iPad 3 + A5X was just a retina test product. Doesn't matter though because it won't be at WWDC. It'll be refreshed at some October event.

Uh except the iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4?

And new macbook airs at WWDC 2012.
Hey guys, so I got a Mini Display Port for my MacBook and 21" monitor. I plan on using the monitor but with the MacBook closed since I have no room for it on my desk so I'm putting on top of my filing cabinet. So because of that I need a mouse and keyboard, but they have to be Bluetooth since the MacBook only has two USB ports.
What Bluetooth mice and keyboards do you recommend? And no Magic Mouse please, I don't like them that much.
ipad mini 2 will probably have the A6 or A6x.
ipad mini 2 will probably have the A6 or A6x.
A retina mini can't have an A6. The memory bandwidth just isn't there, it'd be even worse than the A5X.
[editline]18th May 2013[/editline]
Mathematically, it's 50% lower than the A5X and half as much as the A6X. It only needs to run 1136x640.

I take it all back, then, with my tail between my legs.
Is it possible to buy a macbook in the us and change the keyboard to a swiss layout?
Is it possible to buy a macbook in the us and change the keyboard to a swiss layout?
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do that.
Is it possible to buy a macbook in the us and change the keyboard to a swiss layout?
not possible unless you replace the unibody top half because the enter key is ISO not ANSI
it's not like every other laptop in the world where you just replace the keyboard module.

Would it be worth using a USB hub? You could leave your mouse and keyboard (and anything else) plugged into the hub, and then just plug that into the MacBook when you want to use it. I do that with the USB ports on the back of my screen, so it's quicker to switch between my windows machine or the MacBook.
Would give you a better choice of keyboards and mice too.
You'd want to get a powered USB hub.
Uhh, so is iTunes just deciding to boost the bass and in turn make it all clippy? Trying to listen to anything with bass sound terrible. It's iTunes 11 if that matters.

Nothing changed for me.

Only thing I dislike is that enabling AirPlay freezes the Mac iTunes (until it connected) but it just keeps rolling on Windows..

That sucks. I would have saved $300 buying a macbook over there than here in Switzerland.
