What I want to know is why they STILL USE GRADIENTS. Seriously... Did they not say they wanted things to be flat? Gradients do not make things flat, Mr. Ive.
Subtle gradients are nice, a flat interface is nice but not TOO flat. Windows Metro looks too simple for me, in my personal opinion
Only thing I don't like about the Mighty Mouse is that you can't right click when your finger is on the left click button.
What about the apple pro mouse? No scroll One button because fuck you user.
The UI would look infinitely better if gradients were consistently going the same direction. It really dos look schizophrenic, but by iOS 6 still looks dated in comparison.

It doesn't look cohesive. It looks like a bunch of vaguely similar puzzle pieces mashed into places they don't belong.
neon green eww
iOS 7 semi-Roboto font It depresses me to see a "journalism" website that doesn't know about a typeface family created over half a century ago. Semi-roboto my ass, if anything Roboto in single stroke is basically the same as Helvetica Neue Ultra Light from the 80s.
Wow, sans serif fonts are so similar!!! I get that it's an android tabloid but there's a difference between noticing a similarity and hating Apple for the sake of hating Apple.
Subtle gradients are nice, a flat interface is nice but not TOO flat. Windows Metro looks too simple for me, in my personal opinion
Yes, this. If you take a look of the current Facebook icon for example, it looks flat due to the lack of glass and gloss, but a light gradient is still a very aesthetically pleasing touch: [t]http://a3.mzstatic.com/us/r1000/076/Purple2/v4/98/f6/a8/98f6a883-6afa-be39-f396-bbc710b8b412/mzl.ewflvjuf.175x175-75.jpg[/t] Whereas Twitter, has the glass shine effect which is the furthest thing from flat possible: [t]http://a2.mzstatic.com/us/r1000/082/Purple2/v4/df/ec/b4/dfecb441-93c8-f196-d118-9d0030ae5dcd/mzl.uevfdsss.175x175-75.jpg[/t] Over the betas, Apple will improve the sizing consistency of the icons and hopefully not use "One Hex Colours". Once they do that, iOS7 will look fucking fantastic IMHO.
Having some trouble with Parallels desktop. Trying to install Ubuntu but I get this instead: What do. [editline]13th June 2013[/editline] Come to think of it, ISO might be fucked since my school's internet connection is practically hamster-powered. I'll have a go at home.
The new MBA's are so great for school use. 10 seconds from pressing the power button to the login screen. 6 seconds to login and start puush, Skype, Google Drive, menubars for school and personal mail and Istats 4. Went out with 100% battery on a day from 8:30 till 15:45 and I could've easily left my charger at home, had 90 minutes of battery when I came home. This thing is amazing.
The Mac Pro actually looks pretty sweet, even though it's being likened to a trashcan or coffee cup. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/XazPAic.jpg[/thumb][thumb]http://i.imgur.com/3pCgcSN.jpg[/thumb][thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Pl8eU9R.jpg[/thumb][thumb]http://i.imgur.com/cXTuGvu.jpg[/thumb] Originally when I looked at it, I thought they took a leaf out of the 'steam-box' with interchangeable cards and boards. It seems that now you can obviously add/upgrade it down the line, and the cooling system is pretty damn ingenious.
It'd be better if it wasn't glossy if you ask me. They should have stuck with the silver aluminium finish. Would look 100x cooler.
It'd be better if it wasn't glossy if you ask me. They should have stuck with the silver aluminium finish. I'm just fucking sick of glossy plastic on consumer electronics Does anyone actually like that stuff?? Maybe on a screen which you won't be touching (although this is changing)
So apple changing the location of spotlight search in iOS 7 is interesting. Maybe it'll stop stuttering on everything that isn't an iPhone 5 since it won't need to pull up the search overlay and swipe screens at the same time.

My Samsung Smart TV is actually better, functionality-wise, than my Apple TV. The TV has Spotify, Crackle, Plex, Pandora, TED, and a host of other great streaming services... (And it actually works pretty well... No glitches I've seen.) The Apple TV has... iTunes, I guess... I'm beginning to wonder why I bought the thing. Apple really needs to step up their game, or stop selling it.

My LG Smart TV has only a few premium media apps like Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Pandora. Almost everything else is obscure or for "indie" content. :v: That being said, Apple should definitely offer more.
my sony tv offers iplayer, youtube and a load of video services we don't use. the ps3 expands on this with 4od and stv player, which i think it enough for us. ps3 also lets you stream from windows computers. considering you can have a used ps3 slim for less than a new apple tv, i'd go for that as a media centre over the aTV
I love my apple tv and use it every day. I hardly watch normal TV, I don't have sky or cable. Anything I want I buy on AppleTV - and I end up spending less money per month than if I did have sky - and I own the content forever. You can stream to the appletv using airplay too. So if you have an iPhone or iPad it's really awesome when you have friends around and want to show everyone photos, or videos.. or anything really. [editline]14th June 2013[/editline] Plus it's silent, it's small, it doesn't get hot, it's always on and it has an awesome remote control. [editline]14th June 2013[/editline] I dunno how much power the PS3 uses but
On the new 32nm Apple TV with the single core A5 it uses just above 1 watt in the worst case scenario, that being the CPU and GPU completely maxed out.

Had I had the money on hand, I would have gotten the Apple TV for the convenience of wireless airplay and streaming my content to my TV from my PC without having to hook up my iPad. [editline]14th June 2013[/editline]
I hate that you can't search on google/wikipedia from the new spotlight.
I'm surprised you can't use Wikipedia, considering building Wikipedia support into Siri was one of their big upgrades.
Finally got the chance to use iOS7 in person for a few hours today... It's hideous. Really inconsistent. [editline]14th June 2013[/editline] Looks like a bad jailbreak theme, really.
Anyone has any real life results on the 13' new MBA batt life?
Anyone has any real life results on the 13' new MBA batt life?
Not the 12 hours they're advertising but I'll wait until Mavericks is out for that. Having said that, it comes closer to about 8-10 hours depending on the usage which is still an amazing battery.
The closest I can find is Engadget http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/13/macbook-air-review/ Their test is still probably pretty far from a real life test, but if Apple claims 10 hours of video playback you can probably expect 8-9 at a minimum.
This makes me wish I had the white mini. iOS 7 will look really good on it.
