Probably gonna cut my losses and jump on the iOS 7 train with my iPad 2 as well - iOS 6 probably wasn't in line to receive a jailbreak soon, anyway.
Yeah nobody is going to do 6.1.3 or 6.1.4. Any exploits they have they'd be saving them and hoping they aren't found by Apple during iOS 7 being made.
[editline]25th June 2013[/editline]
iOS 6 apps using the old keyboard on iOS 7 is a real piss off.
Android (Global Platform) is main hinders to Apple iOS. Similarly, Windows is a Global Platform which is causing troubles for Mac. This is from my point of view.

A 4K display would make sense. Consider that the average viewing distance said for the 15.4" rMBP is 20", which seems about accurate to me, maybe slightly less, even at around 15" they're still sharp enough to fit the criteria.
Now a 27" monitor is going to have a longer viewing distance, purely because you need to see the whole panel. I think saying 21" is too short considering the 15" laptop gets a distance of 20", but it's just to use as a measurement. A 27" monitor at 3840x2160 is 163.18ppi. If we take someone with vision of 1 arc minute we can say that the PPI needed is 1/2*d*tan(p/2) where P is one arc minute(1/60 degrees) and d is just the distance from the display. So 1/42tan(1/120) = 163.7ppi which is definitely in the ballpark especially since the distance used is too low.
So I'd put a lot of faith in the idea that 4K displays are coming from Apple, along with retina grade iMacs. Perhaps for some September/October event(s) with new iPhone, iPads and that Mac Pro?
Heard reports that the styling of the Mavericks installer's not quite as spic-and-span as you'd usually get from Apple - god knows what's happening in there right now if they can't keep track of the aesthetic.
And for latest news - Apple Online Store just opened in Russia. Prices are cheaper, than in most of the Europe, but still, somewhat expensive for this country
Awwww shit

I'm hoping for a A6X and below bootrom exploit, that'd be absolutely killer.
Or some sort of downgrade without SHSH blobs. I could downgrade right to 6.1.2 and jailbreak all my iDevices.

That's what I thought when I saw that tweet. If there's a bootrom exploit, I would totally upgrade off my iPhone 4.

I'd absolutely love that. Especially if said bootrom exploit allowed "untethered for life" on every iOS device released as of now, kinda like the old 3GS bootrom.

I can tell you exactly what's going on in there right now... Mavericks is unfinished Beta software. It doesn't have to be pretty. That comes later.

I would think A6 devices would need a different bootrom exploit from A5 ones, unless he's found an exploit that exists across all of Apple's SoCs.

Huh... Apparently, the cylindrical Mac isn't a new concept. The 20th Anniversary Mac was also a cylindrical computer with a separate monitor and keyboard.
Never knew that. Kind of cool how Ive's looking into the company's history for inspiration.
I always thought 20th Anniversary Mac was later re-made into Mac Mini. Dunno why, though.
Copying iOS 7 is going to be a big problem for cheap hardware. iOS 7’s appearance and dynamics require a powerful GPU and advanced, finely tuned, fully hardware-accelerated graphics and animation APIs. This will hurt web imitators most, but it’s also going to be problematic for Android: while high-end Android phones have mostly caught up in GPU performance, and recent Android versions have improved UI acceleration, most Android devices sold are neither high-end nor up-to-date. The gap is much wider in tablets, and even “high-end” tablets usually have insufficient GPU power to drive their high-DPI screens.
Apple’s even attacking Android’s screen technologies by making heavy use of 1-pixel-wide lines on Retina screens. Most Android phones have high-DPI screens, too, but their feature-checklist battles have actually driven many of them to have too-dense resolutions for 1-pixel lines to be useful. And many Android phones, notably including almost all Samsung Galaxy models, cheat on resolution by using PenTile screens, which poorly render text and thin lines.
Interesting. But when he talks about insufficient GPU power all I can think of is poor poor iPad 3, what will happen to you when you lag behind?
[editline]28th June 2013[/editline]
Also um, those one pixel wide lines don't look so great on the mini. The calendar icon date is jagged as hell. Hopefully a retina mini will basically kill off Apple's sales of low resolution devices.
I just want to say that after using iOS 7 for a few days on my iPad, people are fucktards for going "hurr copied windows phone and android."
But then again, the golden rule:
people are fucktards
iOS7 doesn't look anything like Holo/cards nor Metro. Mostly just people trying to take a stab at iOS whenever they can

People always get butthurt over UI changes.
Except for the Users over at XDA-Developpers. they even get excited when the literally get a pile of shit.
I can see how still images can be construed as a copy of the other OSes to some extent but the actual OS is so motion-based now that the end UX is new, even for iOS, and is nothing like either WP7 or Android.
I think the thing is, even when someone posts some legitimately seeming copied aspect, it's not something that originated with the other OS. For example, yes the multitasking bar is a lot like the WP8 one, but that concept goes back to webOS multitasking cards which was way before windows phone.
I gotta say I love how Mission Control is invoked via a gesture now. The whole double-tap home and swipe to access brightness + volume + rotation lock was awful.
Agreed. Especially as the home button started to break on my 4, had to find a jailbreak app and use a custom gesture for it
I have a question about boot camp if i removed my optical drive and put a 1.5 tb in there with a custom bracket could i just put windows on the 1.5 tb without boot errors or anything or do i have to redo the boot camp process and reinstall windows could i just image it over when i partition the 1.5tb into a 500 gb for windows and 500gb for time machine and the rest for files and stuff would it all be good and i most likely will just image the mac osx over to a 500gb on the 1.5tb so i can make the stock 500gb the time machine backup for a single separate drive. Thanks for the help!

Why does no android device come close to the GPU power of the iPhone and iPad? Do apple have a monopoly on the powervr chips or something, cos I've seen so many android devices like the galaxy nexus and nexus 10 get to market with woefully underpowered GPUs for their res
[editline]29th June 2013[/editline]
Like if I get a proper tablet and don't just keep my nexus 7 then I'm getting an iPad or a windows tablet because with them responsiveness is at least a priority and having something as responsive as a PC from 1998 isn't viewed as acceptable.
Does anybody else here with a macbook air seem to have their wifi cut out/stop working randomly?

If you're talking about the latest ones, people seem to have problems with them. 2 minutes and your wifi dies, reboot fixes it.
I feel so lucky I don't have those problems.

Android OEMs use Qualcomm chips a lot of the time, and powerVR is just ahead of Qualcomm to be blunt. Samsung wont use powerVR anymore because Apple and Intel have stakes in IMG tech so they use ARM's Mali chips. I think one of the big things is that Apple is simply bigger as a gaming platform with all the App Store offers, than Android phones are overall with a lot of them not being very high end. The majority of Android sales aren't in the $600 range where you do get really nice hardware.
But going way back, the thing was, nobody in the Android world expected the jump Apple made. It was from 480x320 to 960x640, while the absolute best Android phones were WVGA. There seems to be some disconnect between the engineering teams at companies like Samsung, where they create something like the Nexus 10 at 2560x1600 and it's a joke smoothness wise even by Android standards because for some reason they didn't use a GPU powerful enough. Where as Apple apparently lets the chip engineers know what kind of resolution they're using so they can put in a sufficient CPU and GPU. But basically, you had WVGA, then qHD which was still behind Apple with only half a million pixels. The next step up, was 1280x720 with double the pixels in qHD. It was a big jump that companies like Qualcomm simply didn't have chips ready for.
For as much as I hate on the iPad 3 for getting sluggish at times, it's still smoother than every single Android tablet on the market. There wasn't really an engineering disconnect there as much as I believe to simply be an issue with what was available to them. The SGX543MP4 was still a powerhouse, just not enough of one for a 4x pixel jump.
That's really the benefit of doing it all in house though. You can tell your engineers, we need this type of power because we're making this 2048x1536 device. When you're HTC bringing out the first 720p and then 1080p phones, you don't have chip engineers to demand. You have to buy from Qualcomm and submit to whatever their roadmap says they're making and at what time.
Right, my mum has a jailbroken iPod touch 2g, the iOS version its on is ancient and she recently had to reinstall the Ebay app because its a piece of shit and won't do something as simple as allow you to enter your new password.
Anyway, the version on the app store requires a far newer version of iOS and won't install.
Is there any way I can get an old version of this app and sideload it?
