Oi, the glass on my iPhone is separating from the display. I wish Chinese shit would at least use proper adhesives or something. I might as well just buy a new phone with the money i put in this one.
I've seen Windows computers with anti-virus software on them with viruses. Obviously the anti-virus software might not have been the best, but you're only going to get less protection without it. Yet I've seen Macs that don't have anti-virus yet haven't managed to get a virus. Maybe it is mainly because people don't target OSX much, but it seems the only viruses that really come through OSX are through third party plugins like Flash and Java [editline]17th March 2013[/editline]
Oi, the glass on my iPhone is separating from the display. iPhone 4. I've replaced the glass on it like 3 times. It's a good $500 investment at this point.
Shit, I nearly got Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix to work on the PSP emulator.
So apple released iOs 6.1.3 today. Is it possible to restore an iPhone 5 with an ispw that isn't from 6.1.3? I know that its possible as long as apple is signing the firmware but I also thought ipsw's are for upgrading when you don't have internet. So would it be possible to flash it on my iPhone with iOS 6.1 right now?
Are they signing 6.1? If they aren't, and you have no blobs saved, the answer is no. Also no, IPSWs aren't for upgrading without internet. They're for restoring without having to download the firmware again.
Is it possible (with jailbreak of course) to hide icons on the springboard, but then be able to search them with spotlight and open them up fine? I'm currently using springtomize 2 to hide my apps, but they're not usable at all once hidden.
A quick Google brought this up "Poof is an Cydia app that enables the users of the device to hide the icons in the Springboard (What is Springboard?). It somehow makes them invisible, the only way to access them is to search them through the Spotlight Search or unhide them using the same app - Poof. Below are the steps to install Poof." I just bought my first macbook this one. Anytips for a new OS X user?

OS X has a few different ideas about how things should work compared to Windows, for example the fullscreen option and Safari behaving unlike how you'd expect, and Finder takes some time getting used to, but beyond that, get used to the new keyboard and you're good
Play around with the trackpad settings and get a setup you like. Sometimes I even use it for basic gaming. And I literally can't use a mouse for browsing on this thing... I like the trackpad. Also, you can just use chrome.

Whether you do an OTA update or download the ipsw from apple in itunes, it requires an internet connection because apple needs to verify the update/restore firmware to ensure that it is suitable for the device. In fact, you can download the firmware from apple's website directly, from itunes, from your device itself or through websites that host the firmwares like felixburn. As 6.1.3 has just been released, i think by now the signing window for 6.1.2 is closed. Saying that, it is best to stay on 6.xx and not upgrade to 6.1.3. AFAIK usually the tethered jb for newly released firmwares will be out in a few days (redsnow) because devices like iphone 4 will forever be guaranteed at least a tethered jb as the vulnerability is a hardware issue.
Okay then. I updated yesterday to 6.1.2 right before they closed the signing window. I just hope I don't fuck anything up. So there is no way to restore this firmware right now...
holy shit block fortress is a load of fun all of you people buy it. and for that matter get N.Y.Z. 1 and 2, Foursaken makes some seriously good shit
Help, I can't stop playing block fortress.
Help, I can't stop playing block fortress.
I want a PC version :C
yup. planning to jailbreak?
yes. it was jailbroken before but it got slow. had to take the last chance to restore it. will jailbreak it once I get home from work.
If I get a bunch of in-ceiling speakers and put them in my ceiling.. what would be the best/cheapest thing to wire them up to so I could airplay from my phone/ipad to them?
If I get a bunch of in-ceiling speakers and put them in my ceiling.. what would be the best/cheapest thing to wire them up to so I could airplay from my phone/ipad to them?
Denon makes some AirPlay receivers, I think some are around $200 USD so they might be pretty comfortable for you http://www.amazon.co.uk/Denon-AVR-1713-Channel-Surround-Receiver/dp/B007Y3OAXE/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1363793335&sr=1-5 This guy's a little cheaper: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Denon-AVR-1513-Channel-Surround-Receiver/dp/B007Y3OB0Q/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1363793335&sr=1-10 Those seem to be the only options I can find at a glance
Is there anything more basic. I would prefer a black box that I hide behind a wall and is always on - all the controls would be on the phone?
This tutorial gives me the impression you can just wire up an AirPort adapter to an existing system http://lifehacker.com/5842707/how-to-mount-ceiling-speakers-and-wirelessly-stream-music-to-any-room-in-your-home That's probably what you want I wager.
That's exactly what I wanted! Thanks!
Considering selling my Macbook Pro Retina 15". Practically brand new condition. Do they go for a reasonable used price?
I would think any Apple products go for a reasonable or more than reasonable used price, they usually hold value pretty well
Considering selling my Macbook Pro Retina 15". Practically brand new condition. Do they go for a reasonable used price?
Oh hey there, where you sending it from?
Oh hey there, where you sending it from?
UK. Just trying to gauge an estimate how much I can expect to get right now, probably will keep it for another month or two. Also, I've got over 2 year warranty left on it plus 24 hour apple phone support if that adds any value.
Apple stuff holds onto it's value really well. My early 2008 imac 24" is still worth like £800
Apple stuff holds onto it's value really well. My early 2008 imac 24" is still worth like £800
No. Not even close. I'd expect (L)400, at most. The 2006-2010 stuff isn't worth much right now, the stuff prior to 2006 is still worth a bit (rarity and collectors), and the stuff 2010-Present is still new enough to be worth almost retail.
Got the keyboard for my iPad! It's very, very nice. It's a Logitech K760 - solar powered. A fair bit larger than my Mini. [t]http://i.imgur.com/WNwMsW4.jpg[/t] So yeah, it's solar. Which I love. Managing batteries is a pain in the ass for a few certain bluetooth keyboards. (coughapplekeyboardcough). All the shortcuts that you expect to work do in fact work. And as you can see I'm typing the post from the iPad :) It also matches my iPad for color, which is lovely. All in all, a great keyboard. And I only spent $40 on it! $40 for a good Bluetooth keyboard isn't bad at all. And there's something to be said when your iPad keyboard is better than the keyboard for your laptop.

Thanks for the recommendation.
