Apple routers typically set transmit power to 50% at factory settings. Change that in the Airport Utility. If that doesn't fix it, it's probably bad... Luckily, you've got a year's Applecare for it, so you can just head to the store and swap it out.
Transmit power was already at 100% and the signal is still poor, so I guess this is another journey to the Apple store.

Not sure if I should wait for the 13" Macbook Pro refresh or buy the 13" Air for uni. Rate agree for the Air and Disagree for the MBP. I have a gaming PC so don't need to worry about running games, watching movies would probably be the most CPU heavy task that I would be doing. I probably have just answered my own question but I would welcome any opinions anyway. (Waiting for the MBP refresh would also mean I miss out on the Back to school offer) Oh yeah, I used to have a 15" Retina MBP, absolutely loved it but couldn't justify keeping it since I never did make full use of the power, sold it after a year for about £200 less than I bought it for. Not bad!
For your needs, an Air will do just fine. Maybe use the voucher to get the iWork suite.

They've had the firm for a year, the chance of a fingerprint sensor is there though I can't say it'll woo me over. However, I will say that I find it pretty fucking neato that one analyst with a decent track record suggests the fingerprint sensor might be implemented into the home button. 3. New Macbooks, yep, real shocker. 4. 13-inch iPad isn't happening. Larger iPhones slightly less so but seriously, why on earth would you get a 13-inch tablet? 7. Probably something I'm keeping an eye on. I'm currently on a Nexus S that really is crawling along now. I love it, it's served me very well but I just want something new and a lower-cost iPhone seems right up my alley. 8/9. New iPad seems like a given but we've heard so little about it at the moment. I'm gonna say 'no' on the september event but a possible reveal at its own event later on.

[editline]11th August 2013[/editline] Quick question. My phone provider is currently having a deal for a free iPhone 4 on a 2-year contract with 300 minutes/texts, 1 gig of data and what I think is 1000 free texts a month for 26 euros a month. I know iOS 7 is coming to the 4 but is the 4 overall still worth getting?

I just got a 2013 MBA and I'm having serious trouble with wifi. The system always says that it has a connection but it will only work for about 10 minutes before it just stops working completely, and then it'll work fine again 10 minutes later. The quick googling I did says that this problem was fixed in an update last month (and I have downloaded all available updates), but no such luck for me. Do any of you guys know how to fix this?
ugh i want my mbp to arrive why does it take a week
What's the best Virtualization Software for Mac? I've heard really good things about Oh hey, 2,600th post
Parallels. Really good desktop integration. [editline]11th August 2013[/editline] I know a fingerprint sensor sounds cool and all, but it's really impractical, unless Apple works some kind of efficient magic in to it. On any laptop I have owned that had a sensor was always too slow to use over a password, and on a phone I couldn't ever imagine it would be better than a gesture.

SoC is too limited, iOS 7 on it is already crippled and the 4S is just an infinitely better experience.
Fingerprints work 'well', but that's about as far as I would take it. I think gestures would work a lot better, only downside being they kind of leave smudges that give them away... [editline]11th August 2013[/editline] I use face unlock on my android devices because it's quick, but anyone that looks like me can unlock it, seriously.
No, there's no way iOS 8 will support it and the buttons suck
I don't understand this last part. What about the buttons sucks? The only complaint I can think about is the home button doesn't have the metal bracket from the iPhone 5 to make it last longer.

I know so many people who own them who haven't had issues, but I wouldn't ever made a wide sweeping claim that they're perfect because of that. However, if there was a widespread issue of those buttons failing, I think we would have seen press about it with how much tech press likes to jump on Apple(google antennagate), and just because people would have complained about it. Because there aren't these sorts of reports coming in large numbers, I think it can be assumed that the buttons aren't actually prone to quick failure and that like anything they may just fail but aren't inherently faulty.

Seriously, why did he think that was a good idea?
Are there any iPod shuffle users here? If so, where do you usually clip your iPod for sports and for normal wear?
I think antennagate was more of a press thing because of Jobs's response to that. Seriously, why did he think that was a good idea?
Not really. There had to have been press beforehand to warrant a response at all, correct? I remember everyone reporting on it. Now you are right, that was a dumbass move and I'd imagine the Apple PR team was ripping their hair out when he did it. But that wasn't the catalyst for the negative press about what honestly was a non issue. Can anyone here name a time where your iPhone 4 or the other person's dropped all reception during a call you were having because they touched the black strip? I sure can't.
This has probably been asked before, but does anyone know the deal with jailbreaking the 6.1.3 update for Iphone 4S? I keep looking for one, but can only find references to ios7 or paying for a jailbreak.

On less interesting news, I picked up a Sony dock today. No bluetooth, but it supports 30-pin in, and aux-in, so I can probably find a bluetooth-3.5mm adapter for it. (A Bluetooth 30-pin wouldn't work, because it doesn't support analog-in on the 30-pin.) Technical caveats aside, it sounds really good. Clear sound, decent bass, no amp hum. I can also hook up my Airport Express that I'm using as a wireless adapter and use it to play music through Airplay (I think I've solved my bluetooth issue...) Yeah. Solid product. Good sound. Workarounds for missing features... Also, it only cost me $27. Sears had it on clearance for 50% off sticker price, and sticker price was 50% off original sticker price... So I got a $100 dock for $27. If I can get another headphone splitter and a few more 3.5mm cables, I can daisy chain my TV, my headset, and my airport into the thing's aux-in... Never have to unplug anything.
Why isn't it ever happening?
All the known vulnerabilities in previous versions of iOS 6 were patched out, and with iOS 7 so close, the jailbreaking teams didn't consider it worth it to attempt another large-scale hack for the last revision of that package and instead focused efforts on the iOS 7 betas.

The jb team had a few vulnerabilities that can be exploited that apple didnt know of, yet. Since iOS 7will be out real soon, they decided not to burn it and keep it for the iOS7 jb instead.
Perhaps y'all could help my brother out. He works at a local beer brewery/restaurant/beer shop and is looking for a new laptop, considering an MBA. He basically uses it to manage the online shop's orders as well as personal simple entertainment. The base 11 incher will do fine, right? Also, I'd like to see a cheapo iPhone appear at the september event. Still might not like the sort of prices you get on a contract but at least it'll be a more viable option.
base 11" will do good, but i would recommend a 13" purely for the bigger screen. try the refurb store for a discount.
Refurb store here has practically nothing. Hell, doesn't even have a category for refurbished Macs.
