Awesome, thank you. It looks like she can handle Lion but would not have Air Drop. I think for now Snow Leopard is a good step. I believe a battery from apple will run like $130. Is there a cheaper option? Hers is all but dead and that's fine but it'd be nice to upgrade. Not a need to have item though.
I tried putting an installation image on a dvd to reinstall tiger on an old mac but it wont boot up when restarting and holding or tapping C or holding Option (it doesn't show up) and when the computer boots and I click the install it says press the button bellow (restart) to start the installation but then the computer just restarts and nothing happens. Does anyone know how I could install it some other way or am i doing something wrong?
Had the same problem. Make a Panther install CD or DVD. Install Panther. Then upgrade to Tiger.
Had the same problem. Make a Panther install CD or DVD. Install Panther. Then upgrade to Tiger.
Panther will actually boot? I wanna try using disk utility to erase and restore the os from a usb? Would that work?
Panther will actually boot? I wanna try using disk utility to erase and restore the os from a usb? Would that work?
Assuming it's a G3 Mac or newer, but not new enough to be using New World ROM, yes, Panther will work where Tiger doesn't. What I did was run from a Tiger disk on a working Tiger machine, wiped the HDD, then the Tiger discs wouldn't boot anymore. So I used a Panther disk and it worked fine. Installed Panther, installed Tiger, the end. The machine in question was a dual 500Mhz PowerMac G3 graphite.
Anyone know how to make people "light up" in skype group calls when they talk? On Windows when anyone talks they get a glow around their picture, whereas on OS X the only thing that changes is their name turns blue. That'd be alright if not for the fact their names only appear when you mouseover. I've tried reading skype's online docs but they're a load of shit.
So I'm trying to get ahold of an older MacBook for school because I need a portable computer, and I'm going to be doing a little bit of FC7 work, what's the oldest I should go? It has to have a disc drive. [editline]24th August 2013[/editline] And do Apple Laptops with 7200RPM HDDs actually exist?
I'm talking a couple years old, not enough money to get a new pro right now
yeah, get the one with the i5 early 2009
Actually thinking of going for a 2008 or a 17 inch 2007.
Is there a way to make the preview window in FCP 7 widescreen? I want to know when something is standard or widescreen.
Is there a way to make the preview window in FCP 7 widescreen? I want to know when something is standard or widescreen.
what do you mean? it changes depending on the video file you're playing...
why would you need visual feedback to tell if what you're working on is widescreen anyways
why would you need visual feedback to tell if what you're working on is widescreen anyways
Because pictures, and when I make the scale huge I'd like it to take up the whole screen. Even when I use a 720p background picture it's still 4:3
you mean where the slug usually is or in the project output?
No, in the actual video. It only shows 4:3. I want the preview window to show a certain resolution so I can figure out if it's showing widescreen or not. Maybe I just need to change my export settings. Anyway, thinking of actually going with an Air and a SuperDrive.

For some reason I didn't think you could predefine project settings.

What is this program? That's my screenshot. I had it with a theme I liked but it somehow got deleted and I can't remember what it's called. Pretty sad.

All of these cool desktop apps make me want an Apple machine.
My iphone 4 lock button broke. Just went limp when I picked it up off my desk. I swear these things have a timer inside of them, so they break just so you have to buy a new one.
I'm considering ditching my desktop when I get next year's scholarship money... Getting myself a nice iMac. However, there is one thing that worries me about that plan, and that's that the new iMacs have 600M series GPUs. Any idea what the performance difference between a 650M and a 560Ti would be? And what's the chance of an iMac Haswell upgrade in the next year? And would I be able to continue my PC gaming habit if I did so? (That's the important part.)
All of these cool desktop apps make me want an Apple machine.
Yeah, although you can customize the crap out of Windows, I like the Simple, Easy customization of OS X more than this overly flashy rainmeter theme most people in Post Your Desktop have.

Hi guys, I am having a problem a here, and wondering if you could help me: I have a Macbook Pro 15", running version 10.6.8 All of sudden, I am unable to connect to the internet using the Ethernet connection. The connection shows yellow, and says "Self-assigned IP adress". I've tried looking it up on Google, and it seems like many others have had the same problem, but I cannot find a fix for it at all. I were wondering if some of you might've had this problem berfore - because I am out of options now, I have no idea what to do!.... Any help appreciaeted! :)
