You sure you have it set to DHCP and not manual?
Most definitely.
it's not like widgets don't exist on other platforms, lol
It's not that they don't exist, they may just be done better here. Tbh, I like rainmeter, but it's way too hacky, and tbh, don't really bother spending time on that anymore. [editline]27th August 2013[/editline]
Most definitely.
And you can confirm that the connection works on another computer? (Exact cable)
And you can confirm that the connection works on another computer? (Exact cable)
Oh.... wow. I just went to check on the Mac now, after you asked me about that DHCP connection. It appears I am actually connected now. This is really weird, since it hasn't been working all the others times I've tried. And this has been going on for a couple of days. Hmmm I hope it's over with now - thanks for helping anyway! :)
Reposting for the new page:
I'm considering ditching my desktop when I get next year's scholarship money... Getting myself a nice iMac. However, there is one thing that worries me about that plan, and that's that the new iMacs have 600M series GPUs. Any idea what the performance difference between a 650M and a 560Ti would be? And what's the chance of an iMac Haswell upgrade in the next year? And would I be able to continue my PC gaming habit if I did so? (That's the important part.)
Help?
Reposting for the new page: Help?
Sell your Desktop, build a Hackintosh with a better GPU. [editline]27th August 2013[/editline] I can't wait until I get my Macbook, Might homehost a minecraft server or something from it
I was kind of hoping to lazy my way out of this... See, I built my current rig, and while it's been good... It's getting a little screwy lately. I'd prefer not to build again, especially on college time. Really, all I want to know is if the performance from a 660M or 680M would be comparable to what I get from my 560Ti. Any idea?

So I went ahead and bought a 13" Air i5/8/128. Can't wait!
Why the upgrade to 8 gb RAM?
video/photo editing. more ram is always of use. a ramdisk is always nice to have on hand too!
Flub, do you have a Mac? YOu're posting from Linux.
Periwinkle, do you have a PC from 2001? You're posting from Windows XP :v: Just kidding
Why the upgrade to 8 gb RAM?
Thought it would be better in the long run, since you can't upgrade RAM after purchase as it's soldered to the motherboard.
Periwinkle, do you have a PC from 2001? You're posting from Windows XP :v: Just kidding
Was at work. Here at my house, I have a 2012 Mac mini. But from work, it'll change eventually, getting a MacBook soon, so there's that.
fucking love this 15" hr-ag macbook pro
The performance is more like a 460 than 560. What do you need it for?
Games, really... I was hoping to be able to play my current library at decent settings with decent framerates. Games like SR3/4, X-Rebirth, Just Cause 2, and Civ V. Any idea if I could pull 60 on med/high on most of those? I'd sort of like to keep my games library. I'm sure you can understand.
[sp]I hope you planned on using bootcamp[/sp]
Of course! I'm not letting my copy of Windows 8 go to waste, after all!

[editline]27th August 2013[/editline] Was there ever a version of The Sims 2 that could install without rosetta? I know there was a patch for the game to run in Universal Bianaries, but the version I downloaded I can't install because rosetta isn't in Mountain lion

The optimizations are very noticeable. Also, probably not. I think there's a way to reinstall Rosetta in Mountain Lion, though. EDIT: On a completely unrelated note, what are the odds of the iMacs getting a Haswell upgrade before next semester? I don't get my Journalism money until January anyway, so I can wait.
Who cares about Haswell, iMac has a dedicated GPU anyways
I was under the impression that Haswell was better than Nvidia's mobile offerings. Is that not the case? In which case, could you give me a crash course on these things so I know what I'm buying?

I really doubt Apple will drop discrete graphics on the iMac. The real advantage is the power savings over a 650M for something like a laptop while maintaining similar performance, but desktops don't need power compromises.

Some tier between consumer gaming hardware and laptop-level graphics? I guess that makes sense. So, what are the odds of moving to 700M series chips this year, and is it too soon to talk hypothetical performance increases? (I'm beginning to realize I don't know quite as much about this stuff as I should.)

But most of them should at least run on medium.
I had another gander at the Mac Pro page and I actually just saw how big, or should I say small this thing is. 9 inches tall and 6.6 inches wide! It's actually less wide than a Mac Mini!
