Their QC has gotten shittier IMO. How did nobody notice the dust around the glass with the Mini?

Or with every single one of their devices in their new design style.

But still man, none of you have had this many iPad exchanges!
No we haven't. But I also used to hate Asus because I had the same issue with my motherboards, and now I have an Asus laptop and monitor, they're still a decent brand.
I've had a fourth generation iPod replaced eight times. Their QC has always had the potential to be dodgy.
At least they're not a shafty company who goes "lol no u broke it, no replacements!!"
When are they releasing a Mac Pro with socket 2011?

My mini has a scuff on the right side. I really hope they don't say it's because I dropped it. This honestly started happening after taking it out of my pocket, and I don't know why. Guess I'll just see on Saturday.
haha, I love putting mine in my pocket :v:
Oh um, this one has Applecare+ but I never got the Applecare number or whatever from the guy. The warranty checker still says it has Applecare+ though, so hopefully I'm still covered for the two incidents of user damage if they decide it was my fault. Anyone know if I need that AppleCare registration number or if having it tied to the serial is enough. Considering it transfered from my original mini to this one, I'd think it's just attached to the device but then I don't know why there's even registration to begin with.
See I have one of those smart cover companion cases. Protected from damage in the bag on all angles. And it keeps the smart cover on.
I just realized if they replace my mini and the replacement is 6.1.3, I'm fucked.
I don't know if they have thrm updated - I don't think they would. If you go sooner your chance of getting one without 6.1.3 is better.

I remember getting a replacement iPad 3 with 5.1 and I was so happy because I thought I could jailbreak it, but they only were for 5.1.1. Anyway I hope they don't, I'll be going tomorrow.
So um, they didn't replace it since they still work, and I'll come back if they finally do just break. However, I had to wipe it which brought me to 6.1.3. I have blobs from 6.1.2 saved. Is there any hope of downgrading this thing or am I stuck?
lol if you jailbreak

How about putting stocks and weather in the notification drawer? Or maybe hiding shit like newsstand and photobooth? You immediately assume I jailbreak to pirate apps, an absolutely idiotic jump in logic considering I've demonstrated nothing that would suggest that.
I'm thinking about getting a Macbook Pro
I found one for ~$1,400
13" Retina Display
8GB of RAM
256GB HDD
Not sure which version of i5
Any pros/cons of the Retina Macbooks?
Is it a good deal?

They don't always run perfectly. That'd be the 2.6GHz model, and it'll be an i5 dual core regardless of the frequency.
With the Retina Macbooks, you are running the first or third highest resolutions on a notebook on the 15" and 13" models. Mobile GPU makers weren't really expecting this, and so there isn't exactly adequate CPU and GPU power to drive the displays. Scrolling can definitely drop well below 60fps. I'm not just basing this on internet reviews. I've used the 13" and 15". In fact, I used them earlier today when I was at the Apple store because I was still looking into the performance. It definitely can go well below 60fps and sometimes even below 30fps depending on what you're doing.
All that being said, I'd buy it. That price seems good considering it'd normally be $1700 + tax. It's by no means a poorly performing machine overall, it simply has trouble keeping at the maximum possible level of fluidity. I would never ever buy the non retina model because it's thicker and heavier, and the display is simply no match for the Retina, especially when you consider the Retina can give you desktop space equivalent to 1440x900 or 1680x1050. The screen on the retina is beautiful, and the smoothness of lines on icons and text is so vastly superior, it's really just quite beautiful.
They're pretty good everyday machines. I fell in love with the display the second I saw one. Like Kaabii said, they drag in areas you don't expect it to, but the gorgeous screen makes up for it.
The screen makes it really great for professional work too. Being able to view HD video natively in a box and pictures displayed using four million pixels on the display coupled with the 99% sRGB coverage and great factory calibration make it awesome for photo and video editing.
And we all know how popular MacBooks are in the art community ;)
Every time I see the Retina iPad I miss the screen so much. It's so blatant how much wider the gamut is on it compared to the mini. Just looking at the Flipboard icon or the Facebook icon or the App Store icon, even without my mini to compare it to, it's obvious just from knowing how it looks on the mini that the retina does many deeper shades of red and blue especially that allow for much better color reproduction. Then of course when I do pull out my mini and compare them it's even more apparent.
Here's hoping to a retina mini or a lighter thinner fifth gen with smaller bezels.

Also I bought an iTunes card today and it didn't work so I returned it and they gave me a new one. When I got home the code for the old card was still in the app store redeem field and I tried it again and it worked. So I got an extra $15 card. Kinda feel bad but not really. I don't know what to spend it all on though, since I got the $15 just to buy AVPlayerHD and Keynote.
I've been contemplating the mini a bit honestly. Sure, the form factor is really nice, but there are times when I really wish I had a larger tablet. Namely, whenever I set up the iPad with the keyboard for extended periods of time, and when showing people photos or what have you. And it does kinda suck to not have Retina, although I'm not a big stickler about color reproduction like you are.

I've still been going back and forth about getting something more portable than my laptop but a little more "deployable" than the iPad. The iPad is nice in a pinch, but I just can't justify buying a netbook or some other such.
The best combo for me will probably be the mini coupled with a retina MacBook. The mini is really portable and does everything the full ipad does, and for any sort of productivity I'll have the laptop as the bigger device. I've never ever wished I had the full sized ipad because of its size, just because of the display quality.
Yeah, I dunno. I like my laptop since it gets decent battery life and is a monster gaming laptop for only costing me $350, but like, it's a pain in the ass to lug around. Especially for school where my primary purpose for it is definitely not gaming.

Can Atom netbooks still be hackintoshed? Because that doesn't seem like a bad option at all honestly.
I know older ones can be, and I don't think it's changed. My Dell Mini 9 had 10.5 (or .6, can't remember) and ran it like a champ until I broke it.
Yeah new netbooks seem to be AMD Bobcat chips, which I don't wanna try. Trying to find models off of this list though.

I dunno, I'm a little late to the hackintosh market. Someone's selling a CR-48, unopened on eBay though.
I can dream.
Hi. I have a jailbroken 4S and I'm trying to get the iShady theme to work.
And most of it works. It's the widgets I have no idea how to install. I tried iWidgets but they don't show up in the list.
Help

Nevermind. It was hiding in Winterboard. Gg me.
Oh my god. After going to 6.1.3 my WiFi speeds are fucked and a restore didn't do anything. I'm going to test at my friend's house and if it still sucks it looks like I'm going back to the Apple Store. I'm afraid they're going to think I'm some scammer or something but I'll just do a speedtest on their WiFi to show it's fucked.
I was thinking of getting the Iphone 5, right after the Iphone 6 comes out.. Or should I just get the 4S? I just want a phone with decent camera quality, good battery life, and a 3G or 4G internet plan.
