Yeah, that was my main complaint with the mini smart cover. Have you seen these? I've been looking at them, they look plenty stable: http://store.moshimonde.com/versacover-origami-case-ipad-mini-blue.html
Man how do I never find these things. I usually don't buy non apple accessories but that's friggin cool.
The choice between a mini and a large iPad is harder for me now. I actually had a third gen passed down to me and although it doesn't run very amazingly it's good enough for iWork which is what I need it for. Once it stops getting updated though, it's difficult for me to decide between the $399 mini and $499 air. The air having the 2x faster GPU is enticing, and the difference in form factors is a lot different now. One thing I'm unhappy with. I like the 4 segment smart cover better. I had stability issues with the mini smart cover I had. [editline]22nd October 2013[/editline] Also are the iWork and iLife for iOS updates supposed to be out yet? I missed the keynote as I was writing a vectors test. I'm not getting the update but I thought I heard some people saying they have.
The iWork updates are out, haven't seen the iLife ones yet.
Tempted to get one, as I've managed to find a guaranteed buyer for my 2009 MBP for £400, plus a £200 student discount and that's a MacBook Pro for half the price. On the other hand, the little dude in the back of my head is telling me to wait for a job.
Can Apple please update Keynote remote? I know it's the most obscure app ever but it is one they make, and not only is it pre iOS 7 design but it's not even iPhone 5 optimized. [editline]22nd October 2013[/editline] Hooray I got the numbers update, the iWork app I almost never use!
i find it interesting that no one on facepunch has said a word about the ipad air
Damn, I'm very tempted to sell my MBA for that MBP. It's pretty damn sexy.
i find it interesting that no one on facepunch has said a word about the ipad air
Didn't it get the typical SH thread of nothing but posts repeatedly saying "wow nuthin new -100/0 aple" ?
i find it interesting that no one on facepunch has said a word about the ipad air
Meh, not too much special about it. New 64-bit processor, thinner, new name, new Wi-Fi
I need a job that actually pays. I need to upgrade from my late 2008 MacBook.
Meh, not too much special about it. New 64-bit processor, thinner, new name, new Wi-Fi
I don't understand what else people expect. The form change alone is honestly very significant. Also hooray for 16:9 in Keynote now. I've wanted that for ages.
Any way I can convince OS X and iOS that I have a new device so I can download iWork/iLife on both free?
so what are these mystical Macbook education discounts? I remember those years ago but forgot they existed until the screenshot last page in this thread.
Any way I can convince OS X and iOS that I have a new device so I can download iWork/iLife on both free?
Not really. However, when I bought an iPod Touch 5 from someone who got it after the iWork for free thing, it gave my Apple account them too despite him already using his Apple ID with it. Maybe that'll work if you let someone with a new device put your ID on temporarily.
That's what I thought; none of my friends have purchased new devices since the promo—either before it started or they're on previous generations—so I'm still waiting.

Considering the iPad Air weighs a pound, does that not make it the world's lightest commercially-available ten inch tablet?
Considering the iPad Air weighs a pound, does that not make it the world's lightest commercially-available ten inch tablet?
They certainly advertised it as such.
I need a job that actually pays. I need to upgrade from my late 2008 MacBook.
nah man. 2008 mbp 17" baby. thing has a pretty noticeable bend in the frame, too. runs like a champ. i play tf2 on that shit.
Oh... So, I'd like to bring to light the fact that Apple has killed the optical drive. As of today, with the death of the 15" MBP, they no longer sell a single device with a disk drive, aside from their external disk drive. So that's interesting. I'm assuming how little you've heard about it speaks volumes for how people feel.
The only reason I keep my disc drive in my PC is because... ... hmm

I installed over night Maverick and now im testing it and i have to say that mavericks is ultra fast. And my batterie works longer than before. Apple done a great job!
nah man. 2008 mbp 17" baby. thing has a pretty noticeable bend in the frame, too. runs like a champ. i play tf2 on that shit.
My MacBook's 9400M can barely run anything, best it can do without getting close to having heat issues is FTL.
Well it makes sense that we would hear little because people don't care that it's gone.
I'm glad, disks are slow as shit
They sell the 13" still.
But they haven't updated the 13" in a while, have they? I'd say it's EOL like the Mini. Wonder if they'll bump the 13" retina down to the 13" MBP price point soon.
But they haven't updated the 13" in a while, have they? I'd say it's EOL like the Mini. Wonder if they'll bump the 13" retina down to the 13" MBP price point soon.
It hasn't been updated since ~2012? It most likely is, I don't see why they didn't just drop both at the same time instead of hanging on to the 13". Maybe they still have units to sell or want to keep a firewire + superdrive system.
