It's about time that someone gave this much support to the Mac platform.

I see a finder and "Mac". On the "cover".

Well in that case I guess it's not going to be a native port of the source engine.
well no of course not, but, and i really don't understand how you're not grasping this idea, a windows based lap-top or prebuilt of the same price will have the same exact hardware in terms of games performance, possibly even better performance/hardware.
yes, a cheaper prebuilt or lap-top won't be as fast, no shit, no one seriously thinks cheaper=faster, but this doesn't automatically make gaming on Mac better. i don't know how you're not getting that, but you aren't.
I am getting that. I'm just saying it is better for devs to have a higher low end. You seem intent on arguing on an issue everyone realised and was accepting anyway.

I wonder where the PC-DVD and the MACDVD branding goes. It was on the OB and they might as well be dueling.
I noticed that on gamestop.
I'm pretty sure that the only game that will be available on Steam for the Mac are the ones that are officially released Mac ports as in EA (Sims 3, Bioshock etc.) and of course Valve games but nothing like ARMA 2

Yeas, that's pretty obvious, only a retard would think anything else.

He's right. When the lowest minimum you can aim for is a 9400 you can do a lot of awesome stuff.
It's simple: Mac just rules.


Saying something "just rules" makes us all look like fanboys even if it is a double standard, unfortunately.

Oddly enough the bundled Helvetica has the logo.

How many threads about this do we need?
How many threads about this do we need?
I was the first in the apple forum, not many apple people go to the gaming forum, for a reason. So I thought it'd be good to post this here too.
Just saying  is getting the recognition it deserves.

False. There are still Intel Macs floating around with GMA 950s and they aren't that old. Not every Mac user buys the refreshed model every single year.

if you ask me... we're the only usergroup on here who aren't allowed to take pride in our hardware... if we do, we're instantly braindead Steve Jobs drones who know nothing about computer or anything related. piss annoying.

true, but those cards are denied support at every turn... why start here?
Congrats mac users, at least you're getting good games

I agree, but back in '07 you goddam stuck your head down to avoid the banhammer.

But isn't that your core demographic?
If the boot fits...
That said, awesome to see the Mac getting some good AND native games. I can think of several companies who would make people pay for a second copy of the game right off the bat. So Kudos to Valve for not being money grabbing assholes.

They don't know what TF2 and Portal is, but portal turret is higher, looks cleaner and more next-gen
so it's good for mac-users and pc-users
great move

This will be utter fail for most people I bet. If they port the games to work on the GMA integrated graphics macbooks, then its fine. But as of now i've only seen "mac compatible" games for the newest aluminum macbooks. :(
Of course you've still got the imac and mac pro markets too. But still, they need to make this shit work on my macbook too D:.

All MacBooks since 2008 have had the 9400m, and it's since then most people have bought theirs. I really suggest you upgrade.

A large number of people bought them when they made the plastic macbooks back in 2006/7 lol. I would love to upgrade, those new macbooks look amazing and have some slightly better hardware. But I can't afford it, nor would I bother even if I had the cash.
$1000 for a macbook comparable to a netbook in specs...
or
$1000 for a win laptop that can run games and won't cook my crotch while I use it XD.
...or perhaps we should assume the fact that Valve didn't do this so that every Mac in the world could play it.
