Weren't the 4770s $99 when they came out. But it has been emmensley popular, so they may have jacked up the price.
AMD recommended selling the radeon HD 4770 for $109 with $10 reduction. Later the video card price was higher than $109. This fault was due to the scarcity of 40 nm RV740 chips, which are produced by TSMC company. AMD solved the scarcity of radeon HD 4770 in two ways: both with the aid of video card radeon HD 4730 ($79) on base of RV770 chip with 128 bit memory and with the aid of reduction in radeon HD 4850 prices. All these transpositions affected the price of the radeon HD 4770. As they became known, AMD company recommended to its partners raising the retail cost of radeon HD 4770 by $10. This is one of those rare cases, when the price of video card after announcement is not reduced, but it rises. The basic reason for increase in the price of radeon HD 4770 - is the preservable scarcity of 40 nm chips RV740. Furthermore, this card somehow must differ in the price from the same Radeon HD 4850 and Radeon HD 4730.
Going for 4850 anyway. Also, going to edit my build a bit.
-snip- I really like JohnEdwards build on the "Best bang for my Buck" thread. Not sure if I should stick with the Antec 300 or go for the COOLER MASTER Centurion 5.
Gts 250.... Gts 250!
4870 is a bit faster than GTS 250.
Gts 250.... Gts 250!
You realize the GTS 250 is essentially a 9800GTX+, right?
-snip- Getting the Antec 300 Not looking forward to any problems while building this(this can't connect to this). Also I am using my same HDD I am using atm. So, my HDD will be able to connect to my PSU?
Yes.
One more question. That HDD is what I am using atm. I read that if you transfer it over to a new computer then you might have some problems and XP might need you to insert the disk(i lost, 5 year old computer :( ) If that's true I might just get a Vista Home 64-bit but I also heard that Vista has more problems if you uninstall your old OS and install it than if you just install the 64-bit when you have a blank HDD.
Hmm? I say get a copy of Vista 64-bit with the Win7 upgrade ($110 on Newegg) and do a clean install of that on the new HD.
That's what I was thinking thanks.
Should I unlock the 4th core to make it a Quad? I know my motherboard is capable of doing that.
I don't see why not.
