Norton uses up enough resources to be considered an OS.
Avira Anti-Vir Personal, in conjunction w/ MBAM and antivir's really skitzo heruistics if set on high. finds everything. even things you don't want it to find.
Norton uses up enough resources to be considered an OS.
This is the main reason I want to change AV's. Minecraft barely runs.
Comodo is good, but it keeps asking about EVERYTHING "Are you sure explorer.exe is not a deadly virus?"
It stops being intrusive once it learns your shit though. It's great because nothing can actually happen without your permission, it has great sandboxing, and HIPS protection in the firewall.
Comodo will turn your computer into a fortress.
I stopped using the AV portion of COMODO in favor of avast! I still use the firewall and Defense+ though.
If you want something free, avast would be a good option because it is very light yet effective. It does not give you that much complex functions though, but for the price you pay, which is none, it is the best out there. I am using a Norton Internet Security which is also great, though a price tag comes with it. What I like about it is the feedback it gives for every web site which makes sure that you stay away from those which are up to no good.

I used to use Avira, but since that has become a piece of shit and spam me with "Please restart to update!" I've switched to MSE, much better and no adverts.
MSE is great. Would recommend it to everyone.
AVG Free, best program I have used.
Common sense.
Comodo represent! [editline]15th October 2011[/editline]
Common sense.
Just because you can't see the virus doesn't mean you don't have it.
Antiviruses are resource-hogging false-alarming bullshit. Microsoft Security Essentials and an updater browser is all you'll ever need.
Common sense.
Common sense dictates that you have an Antivirus program, so yes you're correct. [editline]15th October 2011[/editline] We're talking about specific software though.
Mse + Mbam + common sense
NOD32
AVG Free, best program I have used.
AVG used to be fantastic, imo. Not anymore, though.
Avast free version, plus MBAM free version as an extra virus scanner if Avast doesn't pick something up and ComboFix available if shit hits the fan. Use Firefox with NoScript.
use avira personal free antivir or Malwarebytes
I used common sense as an anti virus. But if your unable to avoid or know how to clean viruses then get Malwarebytes. It is free and doesn't clog your RAM at all.
A proper AV versus "Common Sense" is like wearing a condom versus feeling it's OK to have unprotected sex with someone because, well, they don't LOOK like they have any STDs.
Common sense.
+MSE or another good AV. Common sense is really the first prevention, but once in a while you might be unlucky. That's why you use condoms.
Flip a coin. Heads, MSE. Tails, Avast. You can't go wrong either way. Avast's UI is kinda clunky and weird but it's still a very nice AV. I like the option to sandbox executable files.

I used Norton when I was 10 because of my parents. but it does not stop much as I got two viruses within a few months. but because of Norton I learned a lot, like how to pick out the anti-virus that is not a a fat ass that has never tried to catch anything in its life.
Sunbelt Vipre. Probably one of the best AV's out there, and it's very good for gaming. Aswell, it doesn't slow down your PC that much (may vary with your RAM). It's excellent at picking up Malware and keeping your system protected, it's quite simple to use. I use it myself, and have a Life-time suscription. There's a 30 Day Trial for it that you can download here: http://www.vipreantivirus.com/Software/VIPRE-Antivirus/ If you are planning on buying it, costs $40 (AUD) depending on where you live. You can read more about it on the website aswell.
I haven't used a anti-virus in years and I rarely have a problem. When I do its a simple kill of a process and delete of the exe. I am not really even careful either... all you need is a little common sense.
Avast! or MSE. Both are good, I use Avast since I don't feel like changing and I'm used to the layout.

I was using AVG before it went downhill, tried Comodo, Avast! etc, but Vipre is far more usable and more lightweight.
