Oh shit, the Galaxy Note looks boss.
1.4GHz Dual-core, 1280x800 5.3" SAMOLED Plus, LTE/HDSPA+, Stylus input. I'm getting this as soon as it's available.
Time to get rid of my GS 2.
Too big to be a phone, too small for a tablet. No thanks
That depends. For me, it's 7 inch that's too big for a phone and too small for a tablet.
With phones of every size, Samsung is going after pretty much everyone, and that's awesome.
Time to get rid of my GS 2.
How much would you sell it for ;)

A galaxy note.
Dad's Hannspad arrived today. It's no Galaxy Tab, but colour me impressed for a £150 tablet.
Samsung Galaxy S2, what's not to like
The fact battery tech is miles behind screen and chipset tech?
The fact battery tech is miles behind screen and chipset tech?
But that's everywhere. With the speed of non-battery tech is going, you'd imagine the battery could hold the phone for atleast 5 days of good usage - or atleast recharge within an hour or so.. it makes me a little sad :(
also, in other unrelated news - my S2 hasn't crashed since that fiasco with the warranty service. just a factory reset they said... Wizards everywhere.
Huh, apparently the Note has a pentile SAMOLED unlike the SAMOLED Plus. Does that really matter at 1280x800? Answer: probably not when you're rocking 13inch laptop resolutions!
Is there any developer in this thread who would be interested in making a steamgifts app?
we would truly appreciate it.
If the Galaxy Note hits verizon, i think i've found my new dream phone. seems unlikely, though, and there's no other phones with 5.5" screens on verizon...
...And the Droid X2 only has a 4.3" screen.
My good friend just got a SGS2, can't wait to show him how to use it this weekend :P
When can I get the Turbo HD Remix version?
You wait for Galaxy S III, then when Verizon FINALLY gets it, you buy that.
Can't you get around the Gingerbread/permaroot problem by just flashing back to Froyo, rooting, then installing a custom rom of your choosing?
I screwed up and updated my Droid X to Gingerbread before attempting to root it, and had to flash back to Froyo before I could do anything interesting.
Apparently the standard answer is no no no no no no noooooooooooooooooooooo on the XDA forums.
Could you guys recommend me a good video/media player which can play FLV files?

You can root on .602 now. And there are 2nd-init roms that run on the latest kernel as well, really helps your battery life.
So I've been trying to use this and whenever I try to rename something with Root Explorer, it says that everything is read only.. how do I change this?

nevermind, hat to mount as r/w or something
Is there a way to sent/recieve texts over Wi-Fi? My house has terrible cell service so texting can be a bit of a game of Twister.
I'm baaaack.
Saw the news about the Galaxy note and Tab 7.7 while I was away. I would definitely sacrifice the couple inches for a SAMOLED+ panel.
Also I bought a SGS II with the lower Alberta taxes. Guess I get to join the gang. Glad I picked it up because I slammed a car door on my normal camera and had nothing to take pictures with.
Anyone got any cool news in the Android world that I might have missed.

If the people you text also have smartphones, try out liveprofile (it's like blackberry messenger)

Pretty much all that's changed is that we now have a GSII LTE inbound to some Canadian carriers.

Technically it will work on all our carriers except for wind/mobilicity who use 1700/2100 unless Bell decides to launch LTE on a different frequency than rogers. But we have certain laws that force them to share spectrum to avoid ruining the natural beauty by putting up separate towers for each provider. My issue is that because it's going to rogers it will be a custom version unlike the Bell version being the Same as the i9100. Also I have to discuss carrying my 6GB/$30 plan over to LTE when it launches. I'm not paying $10/1GB like rogers expects me to.
Does anyone have the new Gingerbread version? Loving the new interface.

New gingerbread version interface? The interface from 2.3-2.3.5 has stayed the same.

Meanwhile LTE is on Verizon, coming soon (and on a different channel, probably with shit backhaul) to AT&T, (we have no idea) coming soon to Sprint (But different frequency that has shit penetration!), and coming never to T-Mobile because they're entrenched in HSPA+.
I love US carriers.

Here's to hoping that AH-IPS is sole-sourced for all LCD based smartphone displays(or at least HTC/Motorola), Super AMOLED HD is RGB stripe, Krait, OMAP5, and Samsung's future SoC arch are all fast enough to emulate PS2 on Android, 720p becomes the new standard, Ice Cream Sandwich presents a compelling UI that doesn't require a ton of applications on top to equal HTC Sense, and is extremely light and zippy, and smartphones don't go past 4.5" territory.
A man can dream.
Going to pick up a galaxy tab 10.1 today. Shame about no otg.
Just got this awesome shirt in the mail :D
