Wait 6 weeks to upgrade, or get the droid bionic tommorow on a new line and have to transfer phone numbers?
Wait 6 weeks. It'll also give you time to see if the Bionic ends up sucking or not (lol motorola) and the Nexus Prime might even be out by then.
Guys I have a question, hope this is the right thread for it. I've been a not so proud owner of the Sony Ericsson X10 since release and I now am looking to upgrade to the Galaxy S2 (who the fuck isn't?). Before the X10 I had an iPhone 3G and I never had a problem with screen responsiveness in hot weather but with the X10 I often find that if my hands are too sweaty or if the phone has accrued a bit of sweat while being in my pocket (I'm talking minimal amount of sweat here due to it being hot) I can't answer calls or unlock the phone or basically do anything because the X10 screen just can't handle it and I have to wipe down the screen extensively and my hands so that I can use it often meaning I miss the call. Is this the case with the Galaxy S2? Strange question I know but it's a really fucking annoying issue. Oh and if anyone could confirm that the battery life is good I'd be happy. I've read online that it'll have 40% by the end of a day of moderate full brightness use including about 3-4 hours of internet browsing and / or an equal amount of general phone use but it'd be nice to confirm that with people that have used the phone :)
1) I haven't had that issue all summer 2) On stock based samsung roms that seems right.
I suppose my next question is does this sweat thing sound out of the ordinary? I'm really not sure whether I can say it's the X10's fault or my fault tbh. I had no problems with the iPhone yet the problem exists with the X10 and I can't remember if I ever had problems with the 3G while my hands were a bit sweaty. I wouldn't be asking this weird kind of question if I didn't have to plunge into an 18 month contract again. It's good to hear you haven't had that issue all summer so I guess all I can ask is if you find you have sweaty hands sometimes when you use the phone. I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one lol (also I don't like calling my hands sweaty cause then it sounds like I'm moaning that my hands are drenched in sweat but calling them moist just sounds weird). I hope you get what I'm talking about cause I don't feel that I'm explaining myself very well.

The screen has worked perfectly for me when my hands were wet, greasy or sweaty. The only time it hasnt worked well for me was when I put on a bad quality screen protector.
A few things could cause that. If your touch screen eventually turns responsive, get SetCPU from XDA-Developers (free version), and set the ondemand governor to ramp up faster in order to get improved responsiveness. Decent screen protectors will help with ensuring your phone's screen stays nice and clean, and not destroy the touch sensitivity. I personally prefer screen protectors because it's a lot less draggy than pure glass.
I can't wait, getting the Bionic tomorrow. Most of the hands-on reviews have been promissing so far. Only Gizmodo's was somewhat "meh". Everyone else says the Pentile screen is better that the DX2 but Giz begs to differ. Oh well, time to put the OG Droid to rest.
Droid Bionic should be interesting, maybe with Motorola's good hardware, and reduced fuckups in the software department will make for an LTE phone that actually has full day battery life.

Says the bootloader will be unlockable though.
I've been considering biting the bullet and buying a Galaxy S II for a few days now. ~$600 is a fucking lot, but since opinion on the device seems solid, I may do it. I do have a few concerns as to the sturdiness of the device (considering the lack of current cases for the device). I'm worried I might damage it carrying it around. In any regard, it will be a massive jump from my current phone, which is a HTC Dream (G1) running 2.2. Slowly. Unimaginably slowly. At the moment, I have a prepaid account with AT&T that gives me unlimited data in addition to talk and text for $50, but as I have a T-Mobile phone, I don't get 3G. Hopefully, with the unbranded S II, I can have the 3G data and not have to pay extra.
Says the bootloader will be unlockable though.
Good to know, Motorola really needs to listen to their customers. Having a locked bootloader shoots yourself in the foot, having a UI that is incredibly irritating to most people is shooting yourself in the foot, issues like Wi-Fi and long wake times on the Atrix. Basically Motorola is great at making good hardware, but their software is so bad it makes me cringe at times. Not even Samsung's RFS can compare in the annoyance department. The SGSII is even more expensive here. It is being sold for the wonderful price of 1800 BRL (1088 USD) in my phone service provider store. Going to buy it anyway, just not by now.
Or the GSII is penta-band, I can't recall. Either way it should work on AT&T.
Just got a new class ten microSD because my old one died (all my backups are gone :smith:). Holy shit the speed difference!
I want to get a 32 GB class 10 so bad :suicide:

I do suggest getting a case because it protects and adds a little bulk to it. The only weak part of the phone is the battery door, other than that everything feels quite solid.
When I was on vacation out west it would last 14-16 hours watching movies, listening to music and playing games with 3G, GPS and bluetooth enabled the entire time. Me and my brother in law both have a SGS2 and neither of us have had the battery last longer than 8 hours.. do you think we're doing something wrong?
What phone is that? But the first few (1-3) weeks battery life was much worse and then suddenly got better.
Garry, you should compile a list of everything you think is better on the iPhone and we will try to help you.
What phone is that? Me and my brother in law both have a SGS2 and neither of us have had the battery last longer than 8 hours.. do you think we're doing something wrong?
I believe that was the SGS that he was referring to.
What phone is that? Me and my brother in law both have a SGS2 and neither of us have had the battery last longer than 8 hours.. do you think we're doing something wrong?
In addition to what user bove reccomends ,you should also check and turn off location->use wireless networks. For some reason, it eats battery like candy. Lastly, check samsung-specific applications, maybe there is something there. I'm on HTC sensation so can't I help out any further. Turning off automatic sync and location wireless doubled my battery life. Edit: I don't have mobile plan so I turn off data by default. I am heavy GPS user though. Above advice should help, but overall effects will probably differ.
I use juice defender it can turn on auto sync once an hour when the phone is in standby
What phone is that? Me and my brother in law both have a SGS2 and neither of us have had the battery last longer than 8 hours.. do you think we're doing something wrong?
Just my stock SGS. I had syncing on and had it set to use Gmail's push email feature. I've gotten similar battery life with my SGS II. Keep in mind that the SGS II is still on 2.3.3 which has the old gingerbread battery drain bug. When 2.3.4 rolls out it should be better.
Says the bootloader will be unlockable though.
are you sure? my feeling is that they only announced the unlocked bootloaders 2-3 months ago, and from what I understand, the bionic has been in development for a while
