Sounds exactly like phone insurance. If you didn't have that and you sent your phone in because of a defect and it had CM7 on it they would probably not honour the warranty.
Yah they would. It's not insurance. You may want to read about what defines something as insurance. A warranty being specialized doesn't make it an insurance policy. It's a more extensive warranty for people who REQUIRE their phones for work. We also get annual upgrades while normal Canadians get one every 3 years. Now one thing that "voids" even my warranty is rooting or flashing custom roms(which I'm not supposed to do). So clearly Samsung doesn't care that much. I'm sure other manufacturers that are less mod friendly like HTC and Motorola would care, but so far I haven't had Samsung deny me service because my phone is modded.
Do any of you know of any notetaking apps that can recognize handwriting?
Do any of you know of any notetaking apps that can recognize handwriting?
I have a feeling the Galaxy Note will have something along those lines. Porting it after the Note releases shouldn't be an issue unless it's really intertwined with the touchwiz framework.

Or am I just horribly wrong and missing the point? Also, I know that 4.0 is supposed to unify tablets and phones...so I'm guessing there'll be a scaling interface?

Also yes. If you're planning on getting the Galaxy note app for your tab 10.1 it should be no issue at all. They all use the standard touchwiz framework for apps.

Then all that remains is a stylus that isn't some little $15 rubber tipped end. Though it's not that bad.
The GPS is FUCKING FINE. No reviewer has said it's bad and this is the first user complaint I've ever seen about it. If he's going to complain that his GPS can't get a lock accurate to 1 meter while driving in a car down the highway then he's going to need to do some modifications to get it to his incredibly high standards. And it's going to go past rooting. If he wants it at the level of a dedicated GPS unit he's going to have to do something like install a bloody antenna on the phone.
GSII definitely isn't at Motorola standards, but anyhow if GPS is a big deal then just use bluetooth GPS receivers, you'll get better battery life and better GPS locks. The best you can hope for with GSII GPS is probably the same as the Galaxy S in ideal conditions, anywhere between 5 and 10 meter accuracy. Motorola is pretty mod unfriendly though.
Has anyone used Groove IP for VOIP on the Sprint network? Just wondering if theres a lot of lag since their network seems to usually have pretty high latency
Okay so ever since I updated my HTC Sensation from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4, I've been getting "Unable to scan for networks" all the shitting time, and pretty much nothing helps, so I can't connect to WIFI. Just did a factory reset, didn't work, don't know what to do, it doesn't work, I'm feeling like throwing it into the wall Help? [editline]11th September 2011[/editline] It could also have happened when i dropped it on the ground, but it worked for a while after that so I dunno.
That sounds like part of the update has screwed up your radio.
It's still on 2.3.4 after the reset though, any way I can revert to 2.3.3, or should I just send it in?

The i9000 had a change to the gps chip in oct 2010 because the old one was completely fucking broken. Your position would teleport all over the map and the accuracy was to around 20000 meters. The oct 2010 refresh is what you'll get similar results to. It uses the GPS chip from the nexus S. As for mod unfriendliness. HTC has more barriers to get around than Samsung. HTC locks the nand memory making permaroots initially hard to do. They're not near as bad as motorola but they're not as mod friendly as samsung or LG phones.
It's still on 2.3.4 after the reset though, any way I can revert to 2.3.3, or should I just send it in?
A reset will only restore system settings, not the operating system itself. As far as I am aware you can only downgrade with root, and if you were going to root it you may as well just flash a new radio.
What is the name of that app that "records" your sleep and wakes you up when you're not in REM/deep sleep?
So uh. What do I do?
Was this an official update?
Yes. But I'm not sure if it's caused by me dropping it or whatever.
Can't decide, ditch ZTE Blade at christmas, or more computer upgrades?
What's wrong with using a task manager on android?
What is the name of that app that "records" your sleep and wakes you up when you're not in REM/deep sleep?
I only know of the app called "sleepbot" which records how long you've slept for. This is what you might be looking for: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.squalllinesoftware.android.applications.sleepmeter.free

But there's also an in depth article.
Free memory is wasted memory.
Every app that actually allows for modifications to system files requires root. Even doing something such as installing a system app or removing bloatware requires root. Deodexed firmwares almost always come with superuser installed. So if you actually care about modifying your system then you'll be using a rooted device. I do like your type argument though. That's dumb but I'm not going to clarify why I think it's dumb. That's quite a dumb sort of statement in itself, perhaps you should examine the intellectual level of your own post if you're going to comment on another one. The fact that the SGS2 has GPS issues is well known, in fact the entire Galaxy line has issues. Here's the XDA thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062225 As you can see, nearly half of the people responding in the poll has GPS issues with their SGS2. And the issue isn't "acurate down to 1 meter on the highway" either, it's extremely slow lock times - mine averages 3 minutes on cold boot - and accuracy problems, mine does not get any better than 20 meters, clear sky and everything. Also, not everyone has the time or patience to root and modify their devices. Take into account that there's a possibility of bricking my extremely expensive device and you've lost me. I used to mess around with cfw on the PSP back in the days, and it could be messy to say the least.
I use my SGSII for Sat Nav, had no issues.
So what do I do with my phone? Send it in, wait for 2.3.5, root it, what?
Hello guys, I'm writing here because I need a new phone since my old one broke yesterday in a motorcycle accident. I have no budget, I could even spend 1000€, but I dont want to spend a lot for something that's not worth it's price. I've decided to go for android since I've had an iPod touch 4 and I didnt like the iOs alot. From what I see the galaxy s2 seems the best right now, sadly the HTC phones dont have such a good cpu, because I love their build quality n' stuff. I accept almost every brand, samsung, nokia, htc, lg, sony etc...
My GPS lock time improved alot after i set the NTP server to Finland instead of North America(It was default). Before it took like 1-2min to get lock and another 1-2min to get the accuracy to 10meters in open area. Now after i've changed the NTP server it locks in like 30 sec indoors and has 10meter accuracy in about 1min while being indoors, haven't yet tested outside. The path for the config file is [Root folder/etc/gps.conf] and then i just changed value NTP_SERVER in that file to NTP_SERVER=fi.pool.ntp.org. But yea this is on SGS not SGS2 but i believe it could help also on SGS2. Also damn my phone is so much faster after i converted RFS -> EXT4 with CF-Root EXT4 Tool.
