Holy shit. I've used 650mb/500mb of data. Fucking Google+
I thought all you UK folk still have unlimited data plans. What's this about going over a cap?
I thought all you UK folk still have unlimited data plans. What's this about going over a cap?
Nope, most of the major company's have a FUP ranging from 50mb-1gb with the exception of 3 mobile (89gb) and giffgaff (unlimited).
I've only got 160Mb left untill the weekend, oh what am I going to do on the bus without internet access?
Y'all are lucky My contract has no mobile internet without adding money to the monthly fee and the contract only ends next year in july I live off WiFi
Contract? I'm on PAYG. [editline]27th September 2011[/editline] Also how do you get an Android phone on contract without data?
Y'all are lucky My contract has no mobile internet without adding money to the monthly fee and the contract only ends next year in july I live off WiFi
I get 3000 texts, 160mins of calls and 1GB of tinternet per month for £10/month on a 12 month contract, it's cool.
I got 900 minutes, Unlimited Texts and 1gb of internet and a free Nexus S for £30/month, that's with Vodafone.
The extra £20 a month is worth a Nexus S, I mean yeah the ZTE Blade is an awesome phone for the price, but my 2003 pocket PC runs faster...
I don't think so.
Oh well, back to minebuilder than At least it has adventure mode and multiplayer
Can you do everything on an Android Phone (GSII for AT&T on Sunday)(Add apps, music, and various other tidbits that I don't know of) with the USB mini-to-USB connector, or do you need an SDHC card reader thing to do all of that? And by the way, I disagree with how you treated that guy. I'm in the same position that he's in. This will be my only non-Apple smartphone/MP3 player (All given by my dad, I could choose an iPhone or spending $200 on my own smartphone/player, I went with what I thought was best at the time). I didn't know that the phone would recognize all media immediately from a music folder. Kicking him away isn't reflecting well on this section. I'm sure to learn plenty when I get my phone, even if you guys think it is common sense.

The SGSII on AT&T has 16GB internal memory. What you should do is go into settings>Applications>Development and check USB Debugging. Then you can connect the phone to your PC and use it the same way as you use a flash drive. It will also read the SD card if you choose to use one. You don't add apps from the computer though. The on device android market is where you download them from. The exception to this is that apps not available in the market like DSPmanager can be installed by going to Settings>Applications and selecting unknown sources. For installing music and pictures just make folders on the device for where you want to put them and drag them there. The Android media scanner will detect the files and add them to the respective programs. Just a heads up. The original SGS media player refuses to play WAV files. I haven't checked if the SGS II player plays them because I still use my SGS for music due to the superior sound chip.

He was just asking a question

He was just asking a question
Added a word I assume you missed He was spreading a question that could be in one post out into several posts. It was going step by step and what Manning has done here is take all those little fragments and put them into one post that we can answer and then refer to in the future to help people with the same question. It just makes it easier for both the person requiring help and the person providing help. It also helps people with the same question in the future by putting all the info into a question and an answer. Not 4 parts of a question spread out and 4 separate parts of an answer.
Contract? I'm on PAYG. [editline]27th September 2011[/editline] Also how do you get an Android phone on contract without data?
£15/month contract, came with a NOKIA E63 recently got a HTC Desire Z for my birthday, just shoved my sim in
Are there any carriers in the US that use more standard GSM bands? I've been looking into a cell phone contract that I could afford on a college budget, and the main canidate is Virgin Mobile for their 35USD/mo unlimited contract, running on Sprint's network. Through them I could get the Motorola Triumph, which is a decent phone with stock android which is nice, but could I use other sprint phones with them? Or alternatively, is there a cheap non-contract carrier that uses T-mobile or AT&T's network so I could pick up a GSM phone?
AT&T based carriers use 850MHz/1900MHz. T-Mobile uses 1700MHz/2100MHz. Check what non contract carriers use UMTS(it seriously isn't GSM). Then check their devices on GSMarena to see what bands they use.
The new kindle looks androidie. Any confirmation?
The new kindle looks androidie. Any confirmation?

The Kindle Fire, which is based on Google's Android software, will retail for $199 (£127), compared to the cheapest iPad at $499. Unlike the iPad 2 and many other tablet devices, the Kindle Fire does not have a camera or mobile internet access.
They've taken away the android market from what I can see. But if the tablet isn't locked down then we could see some nice community ports of stock android. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline]
The Fire and Touch will be available only in the US.
Go die in a fire Amazon.
It will be like for a little while right? :<
I'm betting on a Day 1 mod to re-add the Android Market. For $200, the tablet is amazing, I'm wondering how they do it.
What's the best $100 android phone for the US?
What's the best $100 android phone for the US?
The ZTE Blade is pretty awesome for it's price. It has a huge community behind it, lots of support, lots of ROMs for it.
I don't think it's available in the US. Am I supposed to get it off of Ebay or something?
I don't think it's available in the US. Am I supposed to get it off of Ebay or something?
It won't matter because it wont work on any US networks.
Blah. I don't know shit about phones. I really want to get an Android device, but my budget is really tiny.
Actually you get one band on T-Mobile 3G and on AT&T EDGE. Unfortunately the band you'll get on T-mobile is 2100MHz which only works if you're touching the cell tower, and EDGE is....EDGE. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] Also "for the US" is WAAAY too broad. You guys have no standards whatsoever. What carrier are you planning on using?
Most likely Verizon.
Most likely Verizon.
Verizon will only accept verizon phones. Chances of $100 smartphone=0. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] Unless you're willing to go into a 2 year contract.
Are there any options better than Verizon?
