Both. I listen to a lot of music so I always have my SGS. Movies, games, browsing etc is done on the SGSII.
Are the headphones that comes with the SGSII sufficient?
It's been noted in XXKI3 that sound quality has been improved on the SGSII.
I'll have to look into it. [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline]
Are the headphones that comes with the SGSII sufficient?
Nope. I ditched em. I use a Sennheiser HD380 for music.
Samsung Galaxy S II for $100 at AT&T: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3374272 [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] Why do you Americans have to get the best deals every time, I mean, the HP TouchPad for $100, now this... My ZTE Blade cost 2 times as much as a SGSII does now.
Are the headphones that comes with the SGSII sufficient?
Decent. Perfect for the average user, although it has no music buttons.
Decent. Perfect for the average user, although it has no music buttons.
I found the sound too muddy and overly bassy. Also mids were completely non existant.

I have my trusty Sony MDR-EX500's which are still going strong after being in the washing machine this morning. Also, anyone else buying popcorn for Oct 4th's iPhone announcement?

He's actually quite the salesperson and he has a magical reality distortion machine. Tim cook? No thanks, I'll pass.
I suppose, but another issue is light sensitivity. I personally think that unless you have a DSLR size sensor, 16 MP is kind of a bad idea. [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] If it costs a ton of money, no it is unlocked. What that means is that within North America, the only carriers that have radio signals physically compatible with the phone are AT&T, Rogers, and Fido. If you can find carriers that support the phone's radio bands in Europe, it will work. The version with a physical home button is international and should be sim-unlocked. I would be surprised if it doesn't work with at least one GSM carrier in your country, because this is international version of GSII.
Most, if not all, GSM carriers in Europe use the same bands AT&T does. For instance my SGSII works with every single carrier in Austria.

AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus and any smaller carrier owned by one of those three. It isn't just Rogers+Fido, Canada has standards. Everyone uses the same bands with the exception of the two entry carriers Wind and Mobilicity because Bell Rogers and Telus have ALL the good spectrum. Wind/Mobilicity use the same bands T-Mobile USA does(and it's a shame).
Decent. Perfect for the average user, although it has no music buttons.
Could you define "average user" please, as I am a bit nit picky when it comes to sound, but not sure to what extent. I find the Koss Porta Pro to be of decent sound quality if that gives you any clearer image.
It is subjective. You said Sense is the only UI better than AOSP. I know for a fact that some people like the Sony UI better than AOSP. So it is invalid because Sense being the best is subjective. Nice try but you made a terrible argument there and you got called out on it. The scorpion chips are old. They're certainly not the worst, but when you're paying $600 for a phone it should be cutting edge. And it isn't just the processor in the phone. It's the cheap Twisted Nematic screens they use as well. As for graphics. Playing N64 at full speed is no great accomplishment when the Adreno chip renders textures in 16bit color and has massive texture compression. Also. "They scroll smoothly". Is this a joke? Have you ever even opened the app launcher on a Sense based phone? The animation runs at like 25fps, it's unbearable. And with the Sensation if you have more than five widgets you get stutters while switching between homescreens. And then you claim that the GPU is inferior because it won't affect most people. So what you're saying is a feature doesn't count if most people won't use it. I guess we don't need bluetooth or DLNA sharing because most people won't use them.
Uhh you're talking out of your ass about the 16 bit. When I use Chainfire 3d and change texture depth to 16 bit, I get a SERIOUS drop in color depth. Which means the default is higher than 16 bit. And no, my phone scrolls smooth as hell I don't know where you're getting 25fps. And most HTC phones aren't 600$ my aunt just got an EVO for free. [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] Most people don't even buy phones off contract anyway.

Looking at those ones I can see you might find the bundled ones disappointing

TN panels only can display 6-bits per color and use dithering to simulate 24-bit true color. Therefore it isn't actually rendering textures in 24bit color. I'll give you that one, it's actually 18bits, I apologize. Oh also I'm getting 25fps from the fact that that's what's outputted to logcat on stock Sense roms with any version above Sense 2.0. Are you using a custom rom? Also just because you can get a subsidy doesn't mean the price of the phone is $0. That's a horrible argument because subsidies on mobile devices are not consistent worldwide. I've never met anyone stupid enough to claim that the prices of mobile phones are what you can get them for subsidized. I wonder if it'll be worth importing to Canada.
Solution: Wait for Krait.
I just got my galaxy s2.
But hardware wise can Apple make something great? Like camera?
The camera in the iPhone 4 is one of the best cameras in a phone.
Why is it every time i see a gameloft game i feel like it ripped off a game
Because that's all gameloft do. Their games are pretty good, but they're all copies of other games.
It's kind of funny. When I went to AT&T this morning, there was one car already waiting outside the store (It was 1 minute before it opened). I walked in when the sign turned on and then two more cars pulled up and some people got out. Everyone was there for the Galaxy SII.
Solution: Wait for Krait.
Qualcomm said early 2012. By that point I'll either be on a Nexus Prime or an iPhone 5(depending on if ICS is a letdown or not).
I have no idea on how you guys can handle such a unstable OS. My Huawei Ascend crashes all the time, Plus it's slow as all hell.
I have no idea on how you guys can handle such a unstable OS. My Huawei Ascend crashes all the time, Plus it's slow as all hell.
The OS is broken because my 600MHz phone runs it slow. [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] Hey Wii60. How is Android running on your device?
I have no idea on how you guys can handle such a unstable OS. My Huawei Ascend crashes all the time, Plus it's slow as all hell.
Well the OS is only as stable as the hardware it's running on.

I'm still around 1.5 years away from ever getting a new phone.

I don't care when it's shipping because I can't buy it when it's shipping. Also I take it you're 1.5 years away because you only upgrade when your contract runs out? That must suck big time.
I've been looking at android phones supported by verizon, and am leaning heavily towards the Droid Bionic. Anything I should know?
I've been looking at android phones supported by verizon, and am leaning heavily towards the Droid Bionic. Anything I should know?
Great phone. Great hardware internals, LTE, nice screen and a good amount of internal storage. One thing is there are reports of some bionics having a high pitched noise when using a headset. Motorola is investigating the issue and I can't say how many people have it. You may want to google about it.

I enjoy reading about the tech, and really when I upgrade a phone I really expect a big jump in capabilities. [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] Like, dumbphone to Desire HD jumps.

Max values: 16 bits = ~65,000 18 bits = ~262,000 Now first let's ignore than 18 bits doesn't hold OVER FOUR TIMES THE VALUES that 16 bits can. And then let's ignore the complex dithering used, which can compensate to something DAMN close to 16 million colors. Yeah, you're right it's rendering textures in 16 bits... EXCEPT IT'S NOT. Up until the values are put on the screen they maintain their 24 bit values, and then those values are used to compensate through dithering. Now let's forget one more detail HTC doesn't use TN in all of it's phones. Now let's not even mention the fact the the popular OLED screens suffer from blue color balance issues.
so how is the samsung galaxy s2? i want to know some details please
so how is the samsung galaxy s2? i want to know some details please
Never used a android phone and im still getting used to it, but it's a really cool phone. is there a good applist or something to get, i like the lockscreen the way i like so i don't wanna change that.
