Got my N1 back, time to have some fun. It was on an old 2.3.2 CM7 beta build :v:
You have no fucking idea what you're talking about.
Max values:
16 bits = ~65,000
18 bits = ~262,000
Now first let's ignore than 18 bits doesn't hold OVER FOUR TIMES THE VALUES that 16 bits can. And then let's ignore the complex dithering used, which can compensate to something DAMN close to 16 million colors.
Yeah, you're right it's rendering textures in 16 bits... EXCEPT IT'S NOT. Up until the values are put on the screen they maintain their 24 bit values, and then those values are used to compensate through dithering.
Now let's forget one more detail HTC doesn't use TN in all of it's phones.
Now let's not even mention the fact the the popular OLED screens suffer from blue color balance issues.
I like how you claim I have no idea what I'm talking about yet you tried to argue HTC animations in the launcher are perfectly smooth and all it took was a logcat output to prove that wrong. Now you're claiming OLED based screens have blue color balance issues? Holy fuck man, you're like master tech tarded.
With the release of screens using SAMOLED+ the values for the RGB multipliers are the same as they are on an LCD screen. With older OLED screens they did have a blue tint, if we're going to base our arguments off of old technology then I might want to argue HTC phones all run windows mobile 6.5. Is that a fair argument? I don't think it is either.
Also you are right, HTC doesn't use TN in all their phones. The old Nexus one and Desire use AMOLED and one phone that hasn't been released yet is rumored to use S-IPS. Clearly a valid way to argue that they don't use a majority of TN panels.
Back to your little screen issue. I don't have the time to bother with this one. I will go on record letting you know that I have the drivers for OpenGL rendering with Adreno GPUs, unmodified, obtained in the year 2010. You're free to take a look through them
So what happened to your other arguments that you were making. I guess you just "forgot" about them.

I wish I could get a Nexus One that worked on the bands we use here. I can only find ones made for T-Mobile in the US.
I got mine directly through Google back in the day when they still made them :v:
I think you could select what bands you needed when you ordered it.

Oh wow, really? Maybe somebody on ebay will have one I could use someday.
Anyone here with a galaxy s 2 that has color banding? Especially in games? I've tried angry birds and jet car stunts and they both have this problem.
Prototype android notebook. Currently the thinnest.

Going to take the plunge and go CyanogenMod7 STABLE for Nexus S (3G GSM), but I need some advice for backing all my shit up before I do a fastboot unlock. I can't use Titanium to backup apps as I'm not rooted, and there's no root method for the NS that doesn't require a fastboot unlock - and I've got shit saves in apps that I'd prefer to keep. What should I do?

YAY! Android 1.6! With a stupid price tag. Awesome :v:
Just saw it. I ain't expecting much.
Android netbooks with 3.0 and beyond would be the shit.
The Eee Pad Transformer is kind of a netbook with 3.0 if you get the keyboard.

Isn't Google planning on porting the Android platform to x86, after they went into some sort of partnership with Intel?

I own an SGSII and I still feel envy whenever I see a N1. It's just so goddamn awesome. I especially like the design.

The problem has NOT been fixed in SAMOLED it's just been intelligently mitigated, just as dithering has intelligently mitigated the TN limits.
The fact is the organic compound used for blue decays a TON faster than the other colors, this is what caused the blue tint on older OLEDs because they'd set blue to be like 1.3x brighter so that when they decayed it'd have proper color balance.
Even in new OLEDs your blue WILL fade, and DOES fade.

Also you linked me to a compiled binary executable you idiot. This isn't human readable code, I couldn't 'take a look at it' and even if I did I'd just see nonsense decompiled ASM
It's useless to argue with garrynohome, you can't win.

It's because he lives in a world where the difference between 16 bit and 18 bit with intelligent dithering is nothing.
You know the place where 2^16 and 2^18 aren't massively different numbers.
You mean Canada? :v:

[release]
Chromium web browser gets files that support a build for Android

Chromium, the open-source version of Google's Chrome web browser, got an interesting bit of code checked in a few days ago -- files and scripts that support a build for Android. While normally we wouldn't get too excited seeing an upstream check-in about Android in an open-source project, this time the submission is from a Google employee. Google took extra time to let everyone at Google I/O 2011 know that Android and Chrome were two separate entities, and everyone got the impression that the two would never meet. We sure did, and discussed it ourselves over a beer or two.
Of course, things change -- maybe Google has decided that a merger of the Android browser code and the Chrome browser code would benefit everyone, and the open-source version would be the best place to do it. Or maybe these are just files for the DIY'ers out there to build their own version of Chromium for Android. Either way, the full Chrome browser on my Galaxy Tab is something I've been wanting. Maybe, just maybe, this is the first step.[/release]
Fuck yeah, I would love to have the full Chrome on my Android.

The Honeycomb browser is pretty much Chrome anyway.
It just has Chrome-like UI.

And all the settings are very similar.
And all the settings are very similar.
Well it still doesn't have all those extensions and themes and stuff.
Well it still doesn't have all those extensions and themes and stuff.
I wouldn't be surprised if Google ports the addon engine from Chrome to the browser used in Ice Cream Sandwich.
Maybe not at release, but probably later.
This probably has been answered before, but how do I change the default homescreen on my SGS?
Google showed quite a bit results, but neither seem to work. Ive yried editing default.prop but it seems to restore itself after a reboot. Im on 2.3.4 stock rom, so it would be nice to change it without changing the launcher or rom.
Doing an Android app as part of a university assignment, if you want to help me out, it'd be great if you could install it, we have to get as many people as possible to install our apps: http://uclanquiz.hexxeh.net/market.php
I'm aware it's pretty shit, we were forced to use App Inventor and make a quiz app, and use their server for questions.
