I think I just got a free Tab 10.1. When I ordered it, my bank's website showed the transaction as pending and the funds removed from my account. Just earlier today I got the money back and the transaction vanished, but it shipped anyway. I'm sort of wondering if they caught it and I'll get a charge later on, but for the moment I'm pretty thrilled.
HTC trouble again. http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/10/01/massive-security-vulnerability-in-htc-android-devices-evo-3d-4g-thunderbolt-others-exposes-phone-numbers-gps-sms-emails-addresses-much-more/
It's very simple. Just root your phone, use ES Explorer to delete HTCLoggers.apk and all the other stupid junk that's been put onto it, delete /data/data/com.HTCLoggers/HTCLog.txt Quite literally all it'll take for HTC to fix the damn issue is to delete these .apks from their ROMs via an OTA update, and then if they're so fucking obsessed with it they can remake it properly. Meanwhile those on custom ROMs will have ensured they stay uninstalled anyway. [editline]3rd October 2011[/editline]
I like how you claim I have no idea what I'm talking about yet you tried to argue HTC animations in the launcher are perfectly smooth and all it took was a logcat output to prove that wrong. Now you're claiming OLED based screens have blue color balance issues? Holy fuck man, you're like master tech tarded. With the release of screens using SAMOLED+ the values for the RGB multipliers are the same as they are on an LCD screen. With older OLED screens they did have a blue tint, if we're going to base our arguments off of old technology then I might want to argue HTC phones all run windows mobile 6.5. Is that a fair argument? I don't think it is either. Also you are right, HTC doesn't use TN in all their phones. The old Nexus one and Desire use AMOLED and one phone that hasn't been released yet is rumored to use S-IPS. Clearly a valid way to argue that they don't use a majority of TN panels.
Pretty sure the upcoming HTC Holiday variants that are going around should get IPS screens. Not sure if 30-bit, but as far as I'm concerned Android renders in 24-bit color anyway, so any more colors will just be unused. If they do get used, it'll be mis-coloring everything. I think HTC is going to eventually get out phones with far better screens than now, they'll probably stay with LCD tech first, but you can bet that eventually OLED screens will be made by Sony and Samsung will expand their facilities and start selling their screens to other manufacturers. OLED is the future, no doubt about it.
How much do widgets and live wallpapers affect CPU/battery life? I have a fair amount of widgets because I'm just getting used to the OS and therefore have no concept of design and functionality, and want to know how much I'm hurting myself.
Looking for a new phone on at&t and know absolute shit. I was looking at the atrix but I heard there are new phones coming in about a month. Is it worth the wait/what should i be expecting?

That pretty much runs the gamut. [editline]3rd October 2011[/editline]
How much do widgets and live wallpapers affect CPU/battery life? the display easily eats about 50% of all of my power usage, if you feel like saving a bit of juice don't have it at full brightness, pretty common sense. Get JuiceDefender, it disables wireless and GPS and other little goodies based on how you want it to act, so that it doesn't use up power when it doesn't need to.
Widgets only hurt when you're looking at them.
sounds scary

Dates are very speculative on it so don't hold your breath. It will most likely be better than the galaxy s 2.
-shit- Ok well I guess its either the holiday/raider or the nexus prime I'll be waiting for. Whatever comes first.
Galaxy S2.
Thanks to this answer, I just got myself a beautiful new phone.
I somehow managed to convince my sister that my phone (HTC Hero) is better than a galaxy SII, so i'm going to get it. I'm planning to flash the stock google OS on it because in my opinion it's the best, if I do so will it update automatically? and which is the best one (I currently use villain ROM and it's pretty good)
Uncool.
Uncool.
she's 13, it won't matter to her. I will make better use of it then her, pffft she'll probably just play angry birds on it
Still a pretty mean thing to do.
Still a pretty mean thing to do.
All I did was show her the calender and how I use it to manage my homework and she now wants my phone

Even though it is a dick move, I bet she would never use it.
Posting using opera mini. It's quite fast on my dinky phone!

If he thanked her, it woud be obvious, you must be consistant with the lie.

Siri can tell you the weather and find a food spot. But what I want to know is whether it can fetch you a sandwich. An ice cream sandwich...

Hehe, More from Android Police below. Voice commands on the iPhone. This is going to be a massive annoyance in public. Every time I hear someone asking their iPhone "Siri, what's the weather today?" or "Siri, are there any Italian restaurants nearby?" I'm going to pull out my Android phone and say "DROID, set home temperature to 78 degrees, and turn on the porch light. Oh, and start the car. *A reference to Android@Home*

I don't know, I think the new iPhone is pretty nice. Except that they did the same thing as last year, aka fucking over iPad users with the RAM. [editline]4th October 2011[/editline] Anyway, now that the new iPhone has been announced, and it's a reskinned Galaxy S II, when is that Samsung/Google event happening?
