My comic on why the Blade will get ICS.
Every phone will get the ICS anyway, maybe not officially, but they will.

You sure you're not actually using a Mac? :v:
Just tried CM7 on my sgs2, it's awesome. The devs fixed bluetooth fully now

Still missing the deliciously GPU accelerated browser.
I mean for android
I didn't mean that it is useless by itself, it is the best "Network testing" OS out there
Doesn't android shutdown nd run bt5? I though it words that way without android getting in the way...
Either way, with a big enough SD card you can run multi-boot installs.
What's the real difference from 4g and 3g?
At&t has the gsII but its 3g compared to alot of the other android devices which are 4g.
Should I just go with the gsII or wait till a better 4g comes out?

AT&T's GSII only supports HSPA+ 21 Mbps, which was originally "4G" but since they rolled out LTE HSPA+ is no longer "4G". It depends upon how long you want to wait to get a new phone. If you can wait a few months, I'd suggest seeing the HTC Holiday and then reweighing your options.

The N1 was pretty quick to get it once 2.3.3 was released
[editline]9th October 2011[/editline]
and got 2.3.6 a day earlier than the NS, so I think it was probably just that it wasn't ready until 2.3.3
is there anywhere with kinda-sorta official guesses as to when which device gets updated? I hope with the bionic being new it'll be swift to the update

Motorola :-\
I think when I changed my tab's browser settings to desktop it shows up as mac. How ironic.
So, uh yeah. Where can I buy a 5" Dell Streak?
Or is there a better phone I can get for £150-£200?
Do you really need a 5 inch screen? Do you want a phone out of contract?
Ive been thinking of the Xperia Play, its been around £150 PAYG in a lot of places but is now out of stock. So would it be a good upgrade from my Desire?
It has a bigger screen
Newer version of android
I think it can be rooted unlike my Desire
The gamepad will be good for emulators
Is this a good idea?
Desire can be rooted easily.
Xperia Play is alright, but it's pretty outdated, and apparently the screen is pretty bad. What other options do you have?
The newer version of the Desire cannot be rooted.
It pretty much has the same specs as my desire. I can't really think of any other phones that are better than the Desire for the £200 mark, maybe one of you guys can help me?
Oh, you mean the Desire S?
Just give me the list of phones you can get, are you looking for a contract?

From the good cheap ones, I can recommend Nexus S. Although I would wait for new Ice Cream Sandwich phones, so the older ones will get a price drop.
Sorry I didnt explain it well, I have the original HTC Desire, but I have a newer version of it without the AMOLED Screen, and this version cannot be rooted.
I will be happy with any phone with higher specs than the normal Desire,
The maximum I will spend is £250 but I cant find a phone I like for that price yet.
When will the new icecream sandwich phones be out? If its pretty soon then I can wait.
Um... I have a normal HTC Desire, not AMOLED either, I easily rooted it with Unrevoked tool and then did S-OFF using AlphaRev.

Get a Nexus S for that price then, on amazon or ebay.
Damnit, ordered the Nexus S for 320€ and now i found a new place to order it from for 270€ :(
[editline]9th October 2011[/editline]

I have whats known as the "PVT4" version, as far as I can tell I can't root it, thanks for your help anyway mate.
Latest Unrevoked and AlphaRev should work on PVT-4 devices.
Thanks a lot!
Have a heart.
Can anyone recommend a good Roms for the Desire S? mines getting delivered tomorrow
MIUI ROMs is pretty nice, especially if you like iOS. CyanogenMod 7 is great, has a lot of customization and is based on clean (AOSP) Android.
Sense ROMs are pretty much hit and miss, on my original Desire I used Leedroid HD, it worked great. Don't know if it's available on the Desire S.
[editline]9th October 2011[/editline]
There's also an official Sense 3.0 ROM for the Desire S.
LeeDroid is a solid ROM cooker, I'd recommend him as I used his ROM for a looong time on my Desire HD before I went with Android Revolution HD for the updated Sense 3.0 leak.
Now I'm just waiting until I see Sense 3.5 official for the Desire HD...

I know there isnt a stable release for CyanogenMod 7 on the Desire S yet. I just want a rom which isnt bloated.
