Okay, so I uninstalled Lookout and did a restart. But nothing happened, error is still there. Any other pointers? If not I'm just going to take it back to T-Mobile tomorrow and have them do a hard reset. I've heard bad things about Hard restarts going bad and having a $600 phone thats half as fast as it should be, and since its not under any warranty I'm not going to risk it.
You get much more customisation options, especially when it comes to themes.
I'm heavy into customization and love the GO suite (though I've kind of moved up into things like ADW launcher and smarter keyboard instead of their GO equivalents), but I'm not a ~power user~ I don't think. If it provides newer and better customization, more power (dual cores just aren't enough for my phone calls, obviously), and maybe better battery life, I'm pretty sold. Where do I start? I'm not rooted or anything, fresh Bionic model with a few apps on it.
Do you guys prefer MIUI or Cyanogenmod?
Do you guys prefer MIUI or Cyanogenmod?
CyanogenMod, hands down. MIUI is fugly.
CyanogenMod, hands down. MIUI is fugly.
Pretty much this. MIUI is heavily inspired by iOS which is one of the reasons I got an Android phone in the first place.

I'm actually surprised at how derpy trying to take a god damn picture is with the given tools. it thinks it's focused half the time but is a blurry mess. I'll look into installing this, but will it break anything? I know it's a silly question but I want to make sure I'm not gonna be restricted to aftermarket-compatible apps or my carrier won't think I'm voiding shit

If anything, they do a lot to improve the overall performance of android whilst keeping a good vanilla feel. [editline]13th October 2011[/editline] Apparently I failed to answer your question in haste. 1. It will void your warranty, but the market and related products will still work as long as you flash Google Apps during the installation process. If you aren't rooted, when you root, you can backup the entire ROM and restore that if you somehow break CM using ClockworkMod Recovery. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Main_Page has detailed installation instructions for your phone (most likely), as well as XDA. Either way, it's a great step up from vanilla or stock.
fahh, I just realized there's no bionic build yet, despite some guy getting it to somewhat work almost a month ago. blergh

[editline]13th October 2011[/editline] Sometimes I really wish that all OEMs were forced by Google to have a very very clear segregation between skins and AOSP, and if you really wanted to get rid of the skin all you had to do was root and delete some directories.
quick question, can installing apps from "untrusted" sources brick my phone, is it possible? also, how about the updates, it'' seems tat I nee to pay to update throguh android market. war are general ups and downs in installing such roms on my phone?
Do you guys prefer MIUI or Cyanogenmod?
Taking into account that MIUI has never been ported to my phone or any similar phones (AFAIK), Cyanogenmod.

I don't understand the custom themes you guys are saying on CM7, all I see is just changing the colours of the overall device. Its the same for nearly every theme. Changing it to dark blue/pink/green. But is it as customizable as MIUI? Still using MIUI now. And I meant like custom lockscreens, icons, etc.

This is a good example: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sonny.theme.lucid&feature=search_result https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sonny.theme.onyx
Does CM7 or any roms have locksreen animations like these: Also:
With the release of each new version of Android, Google's been adding to the sculpture collection at its Mountain View, CA campus. This time last year, it got its Gingerbread statue, followed just a few months later by one depicting Honeycomb. Now, with the release of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich nearly upon us, a new Android, seemingly stamped out of a giant ice cream sandwich, has arrived to join them. The statue looks very cool, but we can't deny that what we'd really like to see is the actual announcement of the operating system, along with Samsung's Nexus Prime to accompany it. After the cancellation of the planned CTIA event, rumors have been trying to tack this announcement on to pretty much everything scheduled for Samsung's calendar. We've heard Hong Kong, we've heard London; the only consistent theme seemed to be the belief that news will come sooner rather than later. Samsung just put an end to all that guesswork, sending out notices that it will have an announcement coming on October 19 at its Hong Kong event. While still trying to be less-than-explicit about what's to be revealed, the presence of an Ice Cream Sandwich Android graphic on the invite leaves little to the imagination. I know that CM7 has that 'tv tube' effect which can be toggled for on and off animations along with GO Launcher Ex
The TV tube effect is built into 2.3. And the video description says there'll be a live stream at youtube.com/android 10AM HKT on the 19th. [editline]14th October 2011[/editline]

You can update using official updates and unofficial ROMs. If you don't like the stock one/you want to get the update early, you can easily flash a new ROM on your phone made by modders and the userbase.
