He probably means LTE
But I knew none of the versions of the S2 had LTE?
What is better: speaktoid or vlingo?
I am using vlingo myself and I'm pretty happy with it, it recognize most of the commands I say (And I have a horrible Russian accent) and does stuff I ask it pretty well
Apparently the T-Mobile Galaxy SII only supports Edge and 4G.. I find that very depressing for a phone released in this day and age.
EDGE, UMTS, HSPA, HSPA+, and DC-HSPA+ are all supported on the modem. For those keeping track, this means that 2.5G, 3G, 3.5G, 3.75G are all supported by the phone.
HSPA+ and DC-HSPA+ are all backwards compatible to HSPA, and probably UMTS but I'm too lazy to double-check.
Are there are any free good TTS engines out?
I don't wanna spend money on SVOX and Pico is horrible
People on XDA claim that you can run android by simply burning a CD with Unetbootin
I wonder if it works well
I would assume that normal taps are left click, long press is right click, swipes are done via the scroll wheel vertically, and nudging the scroll wheel left and right is a left/right swipe.
I'd hope so.

Either way, it's going to take at least ICS for Android on the netbook to remotely make sense.
I'm considering going back to the Android one too. Opera mini works pretty well for me, but sometimes when I click a link it acts like its loading the page I clicked on, and then it refreshes randomly.
I still use Opera Mini for when I'm on 3G. It really does actually save me tons of data.

Saves about 50% for me
short story time. I was browsing craigslist because whythefucknot, when I come across a guy who wants a forum avatar made for $5-10. I figure it's a better use of my time than watching TV tonight, so I hop on it and start talking. Turned out they wanted a droid logo with a devil droid, because their current one wasn't really... uh... evil enough

so we get talkin' and it turns out that the guy is some sort of developer. He sent me his site, I browsed around but I wasn't paying much attention. I saw he got banned on XDA by some asshole austrailian mod, I cracked a rusty joke to myself and went back to photoshop.
later he asks me if I have a droid, then asked if I was familiar with teamwin. I said I barely know what's falling out of the normal market, let alone who's making stuff, then he responded with more specifics. "Makers of unevoked? revolutionary? fre3vo? we are the gods of all that is root".
I still didn't know what was going on but I thought 'neat', and listened intently. Got to talking about rooting and all that jazz, he mentioned his stuff lets you use your phone as a hotspot for free. I like that. He showed me a video and explained how android is open source and is basically the linux of the smartphone world (to which I kinda know, but it's still neat hearing it from someone who does this stuff)
we keep talking back and forth about tweaks to the avatar logo thing I was making, and he decides to shoot me some links on rooting my bionic. We finish up the logo, and he ended up shootin' me $15 and says he'll save my skype since he'll probably have more stuff to do later.

gave him a 400 pixel version of this with transparency, plus an avatar pack of the devildroid by himself at various forum default sizes. Fun.
Here's his site, figured I'd plug it for y'all http://evildevnull.com/
Free Wifi hotspot should be doable with any custom ROM....?
Sounds like he was a dev for the Evo Shift 4G and got burned by an XDA mod, which is a shame, really.

yeah, he was explaining roms to me as a beginner to the idea of roms. I didn't know about the wifi thing, actually
also here's a video someone made about his recovery mod thinger, "TWRP"

Tested them both
Speaktoit is really awesome, it even can compete with SIRI a little bit (Siri is still better tho)
The only problem is that it uses default TTS, and there are no decent free TTS engines

Yeah, ROMs are basically like Ubuntu vs Kubuntu. They're all different in little ways here and there.
Like fetishes, they all have little things here and there that either give us raging boners or can make one wilt in femtoseconds.
Wifi hotspot capability is de rigeur for me though, I would have died during the summer without it when I had to spend a lot of time away from home.
Just found some great info about the Galaxy Nexus in here
Apparently the buttons will disappear and and apps will fill their place when launched, but touching the bezel beneath the screen will bring them back up
Performance is also just as snappy as iOS5, and the screen is unbelievable (which is what I expected of SAMOLED at 320ppi), and LTE speeds were blazing fast
Unfortunately still no confirmation of SD slot or battery size
I'm almost certain it'll have an SD slot just like any other number of Android phones, hidden in the battery compartment. Hyper amped for the press conference on Wednesday, can't wait to chuck my Thunderbolt and get a Nexus this Christmas.

Yeah, I'm super excited that I managed to get out of working Wednesday so I'll be eagerly watching it live
Anyone here know where I can find official phone wallpapers? Trying to find this htc wallpaper of this girl in sunglasses
Anybody else have issues when flashing between Honeycomb ROM's on any tablet, where your apps don't auto restore from the Android Market? Titanium backup and MyBackup root are shit and do not work properly.
What are you talking about, Titanium backup is awesome.

I think that either depends on the ROM or the device. I've never had any of those problems with my Transformer on Prime.

got my moms old Samsung galaxy 1
I've never used an Android phone before.
Anything that would be cool to install on it?
You mean Galaxy S?
old? why would you biy a new smartphone unless.the old one is broken or lacking power and features?
Sorry if this has been posted before, but there's an apparently Samsung Galaxy S 3 leak that looks awfully like the supposed Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus seen earlier.

It has mate, we've dismissed this claim.
Also just for funnies:

This'll probably shut up the apple fans who keep saying the S2 is a cheap plastic phone :v:
Nah, they'll just say: "It didn't get much damage because it's 99% plastic, hurr hurr hurr. iPhone biatch!"

Sadly, you're right. Just looked on Engadget (God forbid I ever do it again) and I saw someone posting an article that showed this video, replies were all 'build quality is not durability' and 'of course it'll shatter, it's glass'.
There is no reasoning with apple fanboys.
A roommate of mine has an SGS2 with broken glass because she dropped it (just once).
What phone's glass wouldn't break when dropped?
