Android Thread V4 - Got money? Samsung Galaxy S II. No money? ZTE Blade.

Aww, I only found one post shitting all over Galaxy Nexus...
Here's my plan, use insurance to repair Galaxy S2. Sell it + Dock and Case and others for £450. Get Galaxy Nexus :v:
Is the Nexus that worth it? Still feel that GSII is a little better.
I'd say they're both equally good. Nexus might have a smaller camera resolution, but on the other hand it probably has better quality, and a 32GB phone version, which the GSII afaik doesn't have, although there used to be rumors a 32GB version would come.
And in my opinion, the size of the Nexus is a minor downside, seems TOO big already.
And the OS will be an advantage for just a rather short time.
Also, I really hope Samsung will include all that Hub and Samsung Apps crap as an optional install for the ICS update, or else I'll finally have a reason to switch to a different ROM.

But the SGSII has an µSD card slot and a (much) faster GPU.

Not sure about the GPU but the CPU in the SGSII is faster.
I just hope the battery wiill keep up with the power of that phone.
Alright, I'm about to buy my first Android phone, a ZTE Blade, to replace my outdated Samsung Star. Anyone else used it here? I've read good things about it, but I'm kinda sceptical because it's so cheap... I don't want to buy a phone that breaks after a week.

Try and get a ZTE Skate, it's better and not too much more expensive, I have a ZTE Blade and it's okay.
Holy carpet, I was trying to find how to do this for ages
I hope it works without a working data connection
Yeah, same here, host the phone router like a LAN.
Umm, probably a stupid question, but:
I have the official Extended Battery Kit for my GSII (that 200mAh battery with a new back cover), and I have a feeling that the battery indicator is showing odd stuff, the battery bar discharges rather quickly but then I can last like an hour on "critical battery" where it doesn't even show the percentage anymore.
Is there anything I can do (without rooting, dont feel like doing it just yet) to try fixing this?
edit: like wiping battery stats?

Wiping the battery stats is pretty much the best thing to do

aand.. how do I get to the menu where I can do it again? can't remember if it was volume up + power or volume down + power
I cannot into android :(
Is it possible to add languages to Samsung's Keyboard in the Galaxy S?
I've found some topic in XDA, but it appears to apply only to 2.2 and 2.1 and I'm on 2.3.4, so I guess it will not work for me.

Uh, volume up + power + home, atleast on my S2
Also, from what I know, you need to have your battery fully charged. You can also do it with a battery calibration app on the Market

AFAIK the ZTE Skate isn't being sold in Holland yet, so that isn't an option

Go for the ZTE Blade, then.
The stock ROM is not quite good, I'd advise you to put CyanogenMod7 on it.
Nexus looks "meh" as hell, will be going for the Note after selling my S2 and probably staying with that for a year or so.
That said, anyone interested in a (almost) new, international unlocked Galaxy S2 with two cases (SGP Neo Hybrid white and a generic black flip case) with stock ROM/firmware?
Hardware-accelerated 2D drawing
All Android-powered devices running Android 4.0 are required to support hardware-accelerated 2D drawing. Developers can take advantage of this to add great UI effects while maintaining optimal performance on high-resolution screens, even on phones. For example, developers can rely on accelerated scaling, rotation, and other 2D operations, as well as accelerated UI components such as TextureView and compositing modes such as filtering, blending, and opacity.
I CAME
Considering my phone uses 70% of its CPU to render the notification bar dropdown animation, this is big news for me!
no problem, mate
If I understand this right, if I have a KI4 kernel and my phone is on Android 2.3.4, I should use the XW_NEE_KI4.zip, right?
I think I'll give myself a box because I feel like a retard trying to do quantum physics.
oh wait, can't self rate anymore :(
