If you want to get into flashing ROMs, then ROM Manager and Titanium Backup are a must. Just a heads-up, since you rooted

Thank you, I already know about both of the apps. Both of them will do just fine in the free versions, right?
Also, I just removed several apps (Hubs, AP Mobile etc) with Easy Freezy, not a single issue! I feel cool now.

They'll do, but restoring apps with TB is a pain in the ass with the free version, you have to choose install on each one, like you'd install a normal app. You can also freeze apps in the bought version of it.

ok, last question for now: When my phone is rooted, can I still install official updates through Kies or would I have to unroot?
ok, last question for now: When my phone is rooted, can I still install official updates through Kies or would I have to unroot?
there wont be any official updates for a while, which is why i rooted
Hmm, I think you can, but I'm not sure on that one, since I never used Kies, I just updated my ROM when a new version came out.
If ICS comes out officially before any custom ROMs then I'll probably update, but that is improbable :v:
I don't dare to root my Desire, since it's not really mine (borrowing it from my godfather on "unlimited" time).
What are the risks of rooting? Pros, cons? How hard is it to restore to a "normal"(un-rooted) phone?

Kies won't recognise your phone, so you'll need to do it via ODIN (It's recommended not to use kies for official updates, since the new bootloader prevents USB Jigs from working)

Not CM necessarily but any ROM

To unroot you just flash a RUU.
I did this when I needed to take my Desire for repairs. And if you already ran out of warranty, there is pretty much no reason at all to not root.
The Desire is still a pretty good phone, but it was abandoned by HTC. However you can flash a good ROM (custom version of Android), some of which even improve your phone's performance.
Or you can just stay on your current firmware, but with access to all the root goodies (Titanium Backup, for example).
If you want a good Sense ROM, I recommend Leedroid HD.

Please don't say that you actually own a Desire S...

It did recognize my phone, said that this is the latest firmware.. and what new bootloaders D: I suppose that when I updated to 2.3.4 (build KI4), the bootloader was already included?

If I would've had a Desire S I would've written that, not just Desire.
And thanks!

Also, wtf how would I know what RUU to use to unroot?
You just download the right one (Country, carrier) from the link, then follow the instructions.
I don't know!
I live in Sweden that is not listed, and my carrier is Comviq, is it anyone of these three then?

Go onto settings and then about phone. Find where it says baseband version and match the numbers and you will find which one you need in the list. Thats what I did and I also got a Swedish Desire.

The kies thing is about about custom roms, and yes - that will have the new bootloader which prevents the USB JIG working... You can find official roms with the old bootloader included on xda
I hope this gets on the SGS II as well in the future, looks really awesome!

Nope.

Also, now for this...
Where do I get all this? I am fairly (smoking fresh) new to rooting phones, I've only ever jailbreaked iPods and iPhones, so please, some help?
I'm a bit afraid of googleing, as some shit can always be harmful (Now I sound really gay) but still, I think it's better if someone here can recommend the stuff.

My point of view on stuff like this is that if it's from XDA, then it's good. Most of the time, anyways :v:
Bah, Swype doesn't have a swedish dictionary :<
