Android Thread V4 - Got money? Samsung Galaxy S II. No money? ZTE Blade.

Curious, how many people on FP own an Android tablet?
Way too ostentatious.
If you're referring to the red back, that's actually the case. The actual phone has a black battery cover with a red accent around the camera.
The official case is not really anything I'd bother with though.
Does anyone know how to fix the horrible android wallpaper quality? Here's an example:

The left one is set using Widgetlocker in the lockscreen, and the right one is one the homescreen set using Launcher Pro, but is of much worse quality. Even though they are from the same image file.
Make sure you're not using the thumbnail version, DL a gallery app from the market that doesn't use 16-bit color, etc...

Not quite sure what you mean by thumbnail, but I tried downloading another gallery app but it still won't work. Could you also elaborate the color bit part?
My dad is giving me his Droid Charge so I can trade in my Thunderbolt for a credit that I can put towards a Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus, which has been confirmed on Verizon.
Anybody have experience with a Charge?
I'm not sure if this is the right place but I've been using my first MP3 player ever as my current music player again for about 2 months now after my last one broke on me.
So after finally getting fed up with it I started looking to see how much it would cost to buy my last MP3 player again (about $90) but I noticed that there is a newer version out for about $170.
My friend has a Archos 4[SUB][SUP]3[/SUP][/SUB] internet tablet and I really enjoy using it so I thought this could be neat.
Does anyone think the 3[SUB][SUP]2[/SUP][/SUB] version is a good buy or should I just get the 3 version again?
Sorry if this isn't the right place for questions like this.
The 32 has pretty good specs for an android device. I'd imagine it really depends on the software loaded on there and how locked down it is (I reckon a lot.)
But you want something for longevity I assume, that should do you fine.
Not quite sure what you mean by thumbnail, but I tried downloading another gallery app but it still won't work. Could you also elaborate the color bit part?
If you're going through the files to pick via ES Explorer you'll notice some gallery apps will build the cache of thumbnails next to the folder of the actual photos and is drastically lower res and such.
The stock gallery app currently only renders in 16 bit color, when color is usually rendered at 24 bit in normal monitors, and 30 bit in professional applications. If you notice visible steps in color, that's the fault of the gallery app.
I don't really have experience with this issue though, I just use HTC Sense which simplifies my options.

If you just want an Android phone without the phone part, get a Galaxy S WiFi. Expensive, but it sounds like it's actually quite nice.

Bad battery life like all LTE phones, not Thunderbolt bad, but still not great.
I'd say you should weigh your options between the Galaxy Nexus and the Rezound, and don't bother with the Droid RAZR because it's a locked bootloader with no removable battery and 7.7mm thinness isn't worth having a nonremovable battery.
Bad battery life is how you want to run your phone. I wouldn't normally use Juice Defender, but in the instance of my Bionic, it was needed. 4 hours a charge is unacceptable. Now going through a full day at ~-30 battery, with my 20 netflix break.
Why do people use Juice Defender? Why can't you just turn off WiFi, bluetooth and Data when you aren't using it.
Because some people prefer to not bother doing that.

Pentile Galaxy Note looks better than SGSII, in my opinion.

To be honest I'd get the Galaxy Note, if I can fit it in my pockets.

It looks just as good as the iPhone 4 IMO. I assume the greenness isn't visible without a microscope.
What's the verdict on the Galaxy Nexus? Other than the display and the lack of an SD slot (Not a problems for me)

[release]
6GB of download.
25GB disk space to do a single build.
80GB disk space to build all AOSP configs at the same time.
16GB RAM recommended, more preferred, anything less will measurably
benefit from using an SSD.
5+ hours of CPU time for a single build, 25+ minutes of wall time, as
measured on my workstation (dual-E5620 i.e. 2x quad-core 2.4GHz HT,
with 24GB of RAM, no SSD).

I don't understand, is the pixel so important? All I need is one that allows me to read shit under sunlight and in the dark without being too bright, and I'm happy.
Well, from what I can tell, everyone got mad when Nexus One and HTC Desire used pentile on a 800x480 resolution (which probably wasn't a wise choice at that resolution), so now everyone is on a bandwagon against it, even though it looks just fine with an HD resolution.
Got a X10 Mini.
It's quite slow? Hangs up very easily. Are there any apps or something that will increase it's perfomance?
its a x10 mini
Will the Galaxy Nexus be better then the SGSII? Comparing the specs I mean.
I finally rooted my Wildfire and installed CM7 on it! Now I shall make my own build of CM7 and flash it onto my phone.
Didn't it break?

Pretty much this.
Sorry to say but it was a bad move from SE making it.

Oh, I'm definitely getting a Nexus. The Charge is just a hold over until it, so I can trade in my Thunderbolt via Verizon's recycling program and get a decent credit that I can put towards the Nexus.

Damn that's hefty.
But isn't that for when compiling for the ARM architecture?
Will the Galaxy Nexus be better then the SGSII? Comparing the specs I mean.
No, but not much worse either (except for the GPU). If I didn't already have an SGSII I'd get the [del]Prime[/del] GN (stupid name...).
Thoughts on the Xperia Arc S?
They were showing it off in work the other day, managed to have a go of one, seems like a quality phone, the camera on it is amazing.
Very light and very thin, screen quality is beautiful too.
Someone might've seen it already BUT:

Android phone for usage with your land-line.
It's got Wi-fi too though.
My only reaction to that is :v:

Holy shit. Imagine how easy it would be to sync contacts.
Yeah, why didn't they call the thing Nexus Prime?
Yeah, why didn't they call the thing Nexus Prime?
Maybe they're saving the name for a phone that has the best hardware in every category available?
SuperAMOLED+ screen, 8MP camera, whatever else is relevant at the time.
(Not saying the Galaxy Nexus is sub par, it'll be the best phone up until the GSIII comes out)
For those wondering what the HTC Rezound looks like without the case:

To be honest, Galaxy Note is the best phone at this point. It just needs a smaller screen size.
