I don't do it on the iPhone but it's nice to get your head around everything.
So I've got a droid charge.
I've had it for 3 months, and I was usually getting 8-12 hours battery life, which was okay with me.
However, yesterday I got 5 hours. Thinking the battery may have failed, I put in my extra battery.
Today, same problem.
Just got back from the Verizon store, they are going to send me a replacement because I got the warranty, but is this some issue that happens to all Droid Charges?
Just wondering, incase the new phone I get will also have this problem.
Do a full charge (Until battery information indicates 4.2v charge or so), then unplug and use until it shuts down, then restart it and drain out the rest, then do a full recharge.

this is good
I tried this app, ive seen a bit of a difference but not a lot. Ot still has this sluggish jump movement, just a little bit less. Still messing with the settings so still looking for results.

well jailbreaking is as easy as checking the obvious checkbox:

customization, well, roms help with that, but you can use different launchers, which have different homescreens, organization, app drawers, ETC and can support themes, and some ROMs let you theme even more stuff

So it's not as much of a pain in the ass like iOS? I just put a "rom" onto the iphone, browse to it and open it? Holy shit, should have switched to Android much earlier.

Nah, custom ROMs aren't that easy
You need to get ClockworkMod Recovery on it, which is a special recovery that gives you lower-level access to the phone (so you can flash kernels and ROMs and make full backups and shit)
Fortunately it's pretty easy on any non-Motorola phone, I was lucky with my Xoom being the Google Experience device but their phones are a PITA to unlock
Hey guys, previously, I use my brother's old iPhone 1g. I'm looking to switch, and was going to get a iPhone 4 and stumbled upon a website that let me compared phones. Needless to say, I could easily see the Galaxy S II beat the 4s by a lot.
Now i'm extremely new to the android scene. How does customization and jailbreaking, pirating apps, and etc work?
Jailbreaking = rooting android
Customizations = easy and you get lots of optoonbefore you root. Still, for more power like over/under-clocking the cpu can only be done after rooting.
Pirating apps = easy as hell, just tick the install from unknown sources should be able to install off your sd card.
But still, support the devs. If you have the money, you ahould pay, even after youvealready installed it and stuff. You can still support the devs, later is fine, never is not. Just dont be a greedy ass.
Also, there's a ton of a0s you should get for your new androod phone, there are already threads on the topic.

For the apps on the sd card, just install and run a file browser like ASTRO and open te. APK file and install it. And bam, you he just installed an app.
Okay, last question, I promise. So I did some research, and they say you need to install a custom rom. What is this supposed to mean? Is it overwriting the OS?

Yes, you overwrite the core parts of the OS with modified parts. Think of it as installing a new OS on your computer, you need to erase what's there and put something new on. That's what you do when you flash a new ROM - you get rid of the old OS in favor of a clean install of the new one.
It's a bit of a generalization because it makes it seem easy to install other OS' but it's more or less conceptually equivalent.

Oh I see, so it's just replacing bits of the os. Okay, thanks :D
it's similar to installing different versions of linux, if you know how that works.
So I just got a prepaid ATT LG Thrive. Now this isnt the greatest android but its cheap and I like prepaid. Anyway I'm having trouble connecting to my wi-fi. It finds the wi-fi easily but when I enter the password and connects it goes
Connecting...
Authenticating...
Disconnecting...
Scanning...
And then just stops. Every single time. Help?

Is the signal good enough? Sometimes even if you can see it Android won't allow the connection due to the signal quality being utter shit.

HTC phones have the process go something like this.
1. Root phone
2. Unlock bootloader
3. Download ROM Manager
4. Install custom recovery
5. Put ROM on SD card, reboot into recovery, wipe all data on system memory
6. Flash ROM
7. ???
8. Eat a donut.
Samsung phones are something like this:
1. Connect phone to computer, turn phone on into download mode.
2. Flash bootloaders (Usually flashing both bootloaders first then the full OS is best to avoid primitive and secondary bootloader mismatch AKA unfixable brick)
3. Flash OS associated with bootloaders
4. Root OS via kernel swap method or something similar.
5. Flash ROM
That's about it for Galaxy S phones and such. A bit different, but I personally figure that both just require learning to do it right.

Mine does that with my primary hidden network.
Mine does that with my primary hidden network.
What do you mean?
What do you mean?
I've got two routers, one is an internet-only visible but WEP protected network, the other is a hidden, resource-connected WPA protected network. I enter the SSID, password and I get the same thing you get. It's a problem with Android I think.
Well, I dont know what but I just gave it to my dad for a bit while he messed with the router. Fixed.
Might not help that my private router's an old business-class piece of shit.
Oh yeah, what's the cydia equivalent for Android? If there isn't, any recommend stuff?

Android Market doesn't remove applications unless they're malware.
[editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
Otherwise it's just 4shared and such, but usually that's for pirating and that's shady business there.
Yeah, the Market even has overclocking apps on there, I'm sure you'll find what you need. :v:
I want a basic phone mainly for making calls (of course), browsing and playing some time waster games, is the Optimus One any good?

Where's a rimshot when you need it?
Hey there seems to be lag on th touchscreen of my xperia mini pro. Like when ever i swipe to scroll down, there os lag from when i press down and swipe. There i this sudden jump as im guessing the screen or app responding to the action. I get this lag on apps like quickoffice prp, when using the browser, even when im scrolling through the settings, i see that jump in movement as in sluggist.
What's wrong?
and I know what my phone is and how many hate SE. This is still a decent mid-ranged phone btw
Would you be able to provide a video of the issue?
There is an easy 1 click root solution out for your phone now. It doesn't void your warranty either, so go ahead. But you have to be updated to Android 2.3.4. It fixes the "buzzing" thing. Kind of. It's still there, but it just doesn't show up in recordings or calls anymore.

Although no where near as good as applanet. But good thing, there's porn apps.
Finally found a real stock+ ROM without much custom stuff
Nice, thanks for the rom. This ROM + EXT4 + Universal Adrenalin Shot improved my Antutu score by 300.
Alright, I just received my first Android phone (ZTE Blade) and I'm really happy with it so far. I installed a few apps but now I'm running into space problems. I don't know how much internal memory the ZTE Blade has, but it's not much because I already managed to completely fill it up, so I can't download any app anymore. I know you can move apps to the SD card but it's not helping. Any ideas?
