Im wondering what phone I should chose, everyone says the Galaxy S II is all the rage, but the HTC Sensation XE looks like a worthy competitor.
It isn't.
If I wanted to remove the custom UI from the SGS2 how would I go about doing it? I just want to have the stock android UI to modify.

CM7 ROMs.
Okay, if I have root and flashed CWM, is it still safe to install OTA updates? I am still running the stock ROM.

Some OTA updates remove root exploits. Make a CWM backup of your current system just incase.
I was more worried about bricking. I know that with a custom rom, if you use an ota update, you are fucked, so yea, I will probably end up formatting my device and throwing revolver on it

Okay, next question, if I format it, will it still be rooted and have CWM on it? Could I just install a custom ROM right away?

Turns out it was a problem with the microsd card, got Revolver 3.9.3 up and running

now for an OC kernel
OC'ing @1.4ghz
score about 2000 more points on Antutu benchmark than before
I bought a Droid Razr, its a really nice phone aside from the locked bootloader and stuff.
Somebody will find a way around it. App exploits can be your best friend. For B70/B80 root, they used an exploit in the Asus App Backup app.
what is the proper or best way to install cm7? My phone was running fine on speedmod and when i tried to flash cm7 on it, it fucking won't boot. I'm not sure if i should try flash cm7 again when i fix this crap.
On samsung galaxy s2.
SGS2 users: Which kernel would you recommend? I've been looking at SpeedMod as it seems simple enough and has the touchscreen lagfix implemented, which I'd really love to have, and also better battery life. Is it a good choice? (btw I'm running stock Samsung ROM)
Preferably some "flash and forget" kernel, where I wouldn't have to make any further tweaks/customizations.

I hope to God you wiped data, cache and Dalvik cache before flashing CM7.

Does that kernel include overclocking?

Is it impossible to boot CWM if he did that?
You will always be able to boot CWM, unless you bricked your device of course.

If you mean the wiping, then no. It would still work, but you wouldn't be able to boot normally until you flash another ROM/flash same ROM again, I think.
Yea, I was talking about if you didn't wipe that data if it bricked it or something
Somebody will find a way around it. App exploits can be your best friend. For B70/B80 root, they used an exploit in the Asus App Backup app.
They probably won't. Root is one thing. Unlocking a ENCRYPTED bootloader is a whole different story. The Droid X1 still hasn't been cracked. The only thing you can do is just flash custom ROMs, not kernels. The Bionic and RAZR were both rooted before they came out. Rooting isn't the hard part, the bootloader is. I thought Motorola was going to change their stance on this issue, but it really doesn't appear to be the case anymore. I can't wait to get rid of my Bionic (for this reason and MANY others) and get the Galaxy Nexus.
Yea, I was talking about if you didn't wipe that data if it bricked it or something
You can't really hard brick it so you can't even get in CWM or download mode, at least not when flashing ROMs
Makes sense since CWM is one a seperate partition IIRC
Just gonna leave this here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348832
There's already a ICS build of MIUI for my D2G, or at least as close as we can get right now. The devs for this phone are actually impressive as hell after 2nd-init was discovered.
It's simply the ICS framework built into Galnet MIUI, I have it too on my SGSII.
Does that kernel include overclocking?
nope, no overclocking or undervolting. To be honest, I wouldn't even want overclocking. 1,2GHz is more than enough for the Galaxy S2.
[editline]17th November 2011[/editline]
so, SpeedMod y/n?
Can't wait till Alpha 4 of the ICS port for SGSII is ready. (Later today)
Will I be able to get ICS for my HTC desire z?
Shadowgun is now out for non-tegra devices
Fuck it, I'm getting a Prime
