Thread title needs updating to Galaxy Nexus and eventually the San Francisco 2
Can we please stop suggesting phones that are built on low specs when better phones exist for cheaper?
Can we please stop suggesting phones that are built on low specs when better phones exist for cheaper?
Excuse me?
Can we please stop suggesting phones that are built on low specs when better phones exist for cheaper?
What the fuck are you on?
Ah, right, UK. I only say that because in my opinion, an 800Mhz processor is just kinda bad for a new phone coming out. I can see where that would be a good option if your only choice is unlocked though.
Can we please stop suggesting phones that are built on low specs when better phones exist for cheaper?
Show me a Galaxy S1 that you can get for cheaper than the SF2.
Show me a Galaxy S1 that you can get for cheaper than the SF2.
Subsidized or by going through deals you can get cheaper or close to it (and the SGSI isn't the only choice, either). Honestly for longevity I'd tell anyone to wait a bit and buy something that has a better lifespan to it. In the short term it's a good deal, but in the long term it isn't.

ICS for SGS2 Alpha 5 is online, http://www.sgs2ics.com. Touchscreen is way better but still slightly buggy.
Subsidized
Not every carrier offers subsidized phones.
Not every carrier offers subsidized phones.
Most inexpensive carriers don't. I had the choice between a free SGS2 and 30€/month or a 600€ SGS2 and 5€/month. Obviously the 30€/month contract includes more minutes, texts and data, but I don't need that much.
ICS for SGS2 Alpha 5 is online, http://www.sgs2ics.com. Touchscreen is way better but still slightly buggy.
Meanwhile Alpha 6 is out. More touchscreen fixes. Also, the easter egg works now. :v:
I hope they get rid of the "Need more data? Buy more minutes and texts." bullshit soon.
you sure gotta love the android community. just a few days since the sources were released and they already got it booting up and partially working on the S2. Now to hide the 3 on-screen buttons :v: I'm guessing there will be a stable-ish beta with everything working within 2 to 3 weeks.
Got an offer to trade my Desire for Optimus 3D (which already has an ICS ROM in development) Yay or nay?
I'm calling it. By tomorrow we'll have working WiFi on the SGSII with ICS.
Touchscreen issue was fixed with ICS for the SGSII!
There's some chatter in the ICS thread on XDA. Seems like we might actually have WiFi and maybe radio working by the end of the day. :v:
Epic 4G Touch
Even after hearing it about a million times, this name STILL makes me laugh. Samsung Galaxy S™ II Epic™ 4G Touch.. :suicide: Even Galaxy US²A would be a better name :v: also; SpeedMod K2-16 installed. Wake up lag seems to be shorter, nice.

Any company who puts an Easter egg in their OS deserves a pat on the back
Any company who puts an Easter egg in their OS deserves a pat on the back
OS version easter egg was in Android for a long time :v: Also there was news of this guy who accidentally got a dev version of the Nexus Prime, had a dev app and one of the options was 'Report a WTF condition'. Yeah he was I don't really care about the Nexus, it's nice and all, but I can barely wait for ICS on the GS2. As soon as the port gets working wifi and radio and working touchscreen (no cursor) I'm all over it.
don't forget nyan logcat Google is super serious about development :v:
It was because someone sent them an email about how looking through logs is boring and wanted something to cheer them up :v:
http://www.sgs2ics.com/ On XDA, somebody booted this just fine on the Epic 4G Touch...
