I just got ICS on my Captivate, the hardware acceleration is amazing, no lag at all. I do love the new UI look, messaging and contacts look so good.

Where is this ROM? I need it now?

Also does it work on the I897?
Stop spreading sensational bullshit without a source. Oh wait, there can't be a source because I found a counter-source:

According to this, only the Galaxy Nexus and possibly but unlikely the Nexus S will be effected. Phones like the SGS2 that have an SD card slot would loose support for that and no sane manufacturer would release an update that removes major functionality like that and even if it was possible to still have an external sd card and when using the unified storage model that wouldn't mean manufacturers would use it. For instance you would loose everything you have on your internal "sd card" when updating and that would be a support nightmare when millions of users start complaining because their photos are gone.
In theory, data partitioning can retain data. Either way, official ROMs will either sidestep this issue completely and only phones that come with ICS will have unified internal NAND, or require connecting to the computer, dumping the entire internal SD card, repartitioning the phone, and moving everything back, etc.
There's ways around that, but basically, the Honeycomb file partitioning system is here to stay.
Well if I was considering getting the Galaxy Nexus, that would put me off. badly. Is it possible to "fix" this with custom ROMs?
That's one reason to keep SGS2 in the thread title for now, imo.
It's just like the current system but a bit more abstracted.
[editline]21st November 2011[/editline]
In theory you should be able to remedy this by using the proper PIT and ROMs via Odin.
I've been debating whether to go with the Nexus over the Razr, or not. I figure, it's already been rooted and somebody will find a way around the bootloader, but the Nexus is...well, it's a Nexus.
The Razr's build quality is just so awesome, though. And it accepts SD cards, unlike the Nexus.
random question on an app I think might be somewhere:
the ability do programming of code on an Android phone
is this possible? Yes. Has it been done? I dunno, couldn't find it on Google yet...
Just give all of them if there are any, C++, Java, Python, but I'm really looking for one that can do Turing, this 30 year old programming language. I mean, Python would be good too.

You can code is pascal, c and c++(If you have root)on android
I forgot the app names, but they work and include a compiler as well

better list
couldnt find any for turing, but i think it might work as just for editing only..., but no testing = no fun

If the Razr is popular I'd count on it. The Milestones and Xs and the Bionic have all gotten clockworkmod. You just have to hope people want to make ROMs for it.
[editline]22nd November 2011[/editline]
In other words hope the guy who does most of the Cyanogenmod work for the Motorola phones gets a model to work on. He's awesome when he has the time...he made an ICS rom for the X over the weekend and he's just trying to get it to boot now.
question on saving my phones battery life (the lifespan, not the capacity)
should I keep the USB plugged in and charging and do my things so it wouldn't use the battery, instead it will use the power from the USB.
Or should I do the above when the battery is fully charged?
What I do now is use it on battery until around 50% or lower, then charge it if I can.
From what I understand you want to drain the battery completely and recharge it to full, and remove, then repeat
well my main question was should I use it when the usb is plugged in charging, or unplug it and use it off battery?

Yesir, thats what my phone is, the Captivate.
It's still in alpha so the camera and bluetooth are currently not working. But it is stable enough to use as a daily driver.
Here you are good sir: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324831
Holy shit, he has GPU acceleration.
Whoever this man is, he may have just saved ICS for more phones: HD2, Desire, Nexus One, Xperia X10i and etc...
That means there is yet hope for my O1 and ICS :D

But that still leaves the problem of not supporting SD card slots and the Nexus S has OTA updates so it can't update without loosing data either.
I'll just sit here and wait for ICS to come out for my Wildfire S.
...
I'm gonna sit here for a long time.

Use a shipping relay service?
I'm still waiting for Motorola to either A) get us ICS within the next 4 devices they release or B) unlock our god damn bootloader.
Maybe my HTC Hero will get it first!
It's not motorola that locks the bootloader, but Verizon
I wish widget developers sized their widgets to fit the entire cell. Nothing is more annoying than having simi clock fit cells beautifully then clarus comes along with a bunch of empty space in its cell.

Carriers don't care about locked bootloaders here and they are still locked.

They totally are. I still see ones with 256mb of RAM and 800mhz processors. So don't rate me dumb you chinese tablet buyer!
