Apparently according to some list, SGS won't get ICS, but I really don't want to believe it, seeing as Nexus S is basically the same as Galaxy S without Samsung's crapware. Oh, and installed Darky's
Apparently the S2 battery improves over time for about the first six months
That's good to know! I've been wondering how I'm only able to squeeze out about 18-20 hours after moderate usage of browsing (with JuiceDefender) and at almost 5% brightness on the screen...

Oh, and installed Darky's
If it's not going to be an official release, the community will most definitely get one working. I even think the SGS already has a pretty-much-working ICS ROM already, unlike SGS2 :( SGS2_related_edit: well according to this, the devs are getting closer to getting in-call audio working. Man I hope they have enough luck and skill to get a stable release out before christmas, that'd be the perfect christmas gift.

So the SGS2 or Galaxy Nexus aren't decently modern?
Use SSH Tunnel, works better imo.
Thanks, but I don't think I can use it on my university's network. I have to log into a PPTP VPN in order to access anything (even the compsci SSH servers on the same network)
That's good to know! I've been wondering how I'm only able to squeeze out about 18-20 hours after moderate usage of browsing (with JuiceDefender) and at almost 5% brightness on the screen...
if you'd flash a custom kernel (SpeedMod is a good example which doesn't require any tweaking after you flash it), your battery life would also improve. I do charge my phone every night but with SpeedMod, I have a lot more battery at the end of the day then I did on stock kernel. about the phone logging: I don't see any IQRD app in my SGS2, does that mean we're safe?
I need help, My ZTE Blade keeps booting into the ClockworkMod Recovery. It's been acting funny the past couple of days, randomly rebooting. I'm using CyanogenMod 7 (or was, I don't know what's happened).
Reposting this, does anyone know what I should do?
ES File Explorer is well worth downloading. Download it, then go to settings and enable Root Explorer and mount system as R/W. You can then go into the system files and delete bloatware. [editline]29th November 2011[/editline] Oh, and I'll just say right now that you should probably never underclock your phone. You might want to clock up your phone to 1.2 GHz, in fact. If you're wondering why I say this, look up HUGS. You will save more power for a given task if the CPU rapidly ramps up to max speed to finish it faster than if it spends more time at a lower clock with less power consumption. Intel already did extensive studies on this before, and we don't see companion cores in their laptop CPUs. Instead we see ULV chips and Turbo Core tech. http://semiaccurate.com/2011/11/09/tegra-3-missed-performance-goals-by-wide-margins/ [editline]29th November 2011[/editline] For the curious, storing your battery at 100% charge at 25C will make the capacity irrecoverably drop 20% in a year. It's not 20% of the original, but 20% of what is left. So if you're going to store batteries for a month or more, use it to about 40% before putting it in a dark, dry, cool storage space. Partial discharges of about 50% will increase the useful lifetime of a battery by about 250 charges, or 25%. http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries
Sweet. Already have ES File Explorer. I'll try to clock it up to that magic number too.
New Exynos 5250 yay! Also based on Cortex A15, it's a dual-core 2GHz processor, 32nm and all that technical stuff. It's also capable of driving higher-resolution screens. In fact, up to WQXGA (2560 x 1600).
This better be driving the SGS3. [editline]30th November 2011[/editline]
What's the average battery life with moderate usage on the stock SGS II? I'm feeling it drains too fast for some reason...
Earlier versions of firmware have a suspend and events/0 loop issue that will destroy battery life. [editline]30th November 2011[/editline]
I'm getting 2x since I installed and configured it, it's still running. It's nice that WiFi can be turned off automatically, but either way, I dont even use mobile internet, gps, bluetooth, so either way, it's at 2x when i mean 2x, I mean when i pull down the nofitications, its telling me im getting 2x
Probably not all that true, unless you have an app acting up in the background. I would be less doubtful if the phone automatically kicked down to EDGE when there is enough of a time without significant network usage. That would be a viable way to increase battery life. [editline]30th November 2011[/editline]
Sweet. Already have ES File Explorer. I'll try to clock it up to that magic number too.
The Droid RAZR and the Droid 3 should be OK to clock up to 1.2 GHz. The Galaxy Nexus should work out fine when clocked up to 1.5 GHz.
sgs3? God damnit I just got the s2..
sgs3? God damnit I just got the s2..
That's been announced for months.
Where have I been? Is there an estimated release?
Where have I been? Is there an estimated release?
No. That's a stupid question to ask.
How is the screen on the S2? And how is rooting?
How is the screen on the S2? And how is rooting?
Stock: Oversaturated, with Voodoo Screen it will be the best thing you'll ever see. Rooting: Download kernel, flash using Odin. You are rooted. [editline]30th November 2011[/editline]
sgs3? God damnit I just got the s2..
SGS3 is probably going to be announced around MWC. Nothing you can do about it.
How is the screen on the S2? And how is rooting?
The screens pretty big and crisp.
On the Exynos 5250: Holy shit. This is going to be a big deal for Qualcomm. 2 GHz Cortex A15 could probably beat a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S4. If Samsung amps up the GPU to iPad 2 speeds or faster, this could be the S3 vs Exynos 4210 all over again. If Exynos 5250 integrates LTE and all the other data standards into 1 SoC, and they get the release dates right, this could rain on Qualcomm's parade. Badly.
