I'm getting a SK17 next month and I want to know: Is there any risk to bricking your phone when rooting or is it just possible when flashing a new ROM/kernel? Also, for apps like SetCPU do I need to flash a new ROM or just rooting the device will do it? Plus, If I brick my phone in the worst case scenario, does that mean it's done for life? I'm pretty used to Wii modding, and there bricking means "good job fucking up, now go buy another one" because (depending on the type of brick) it wont be able to do anything anymore. Is it the same with Android devices?
If you're careful, bricking shouldn't be too much of an issue. And from what I've read generally about Android modding, most bricks are "soft" bricks, too - fixable at home. There's also "JTAG Services", that can debrick most (if not all) of the worse cases, costs some money but it's not even close to the original phone price and it's good to know that there's a backup like this, if all else fails. What phone has the best specs? Just curious.
What phone has the best specs? Just curious.
HTC Wildfire :v:
Galaxy nexus
What phone has the best specs? Just curious.
Nokia 3210 :v:
I was being serious. If I could afford it, the nexus would be a better buy right?
I was being serious. (giantunsmith) If I could afford it, the nexus would be a better buy right?
Galaxy Nexus / Galaxy Note / Galaxy SII are the top of the line as of now as far as I know. [editline]some day[/editline] ...but you know that LG Optimus ME is sure a worthy competitor for them! :v:
I think it has a better CPU, but everything else in the Nexus is worse than the SGSII. Don't quote me on that though
merge broke
I think it has a better CPU, but everything else in the Nexus is worse than the SGSII. Don't quote me on that though
It's actually pretty much the CPU that's worse than the one in the SGS2
As far as I'm aware, the SGSII has a better CPU/GPU in it alongside a microSD card slot. The Nexus Prime sports a 720p screen and a bunch of other nifty things like NFC (sadly no Bluetooth 4.0, still on 3.0) that the SGSII doesn't have. The SGSII also has an arguably better camera according to most reviews of the Nexus. Edit: I remember the Nexus receiving complaints about something the screen was lacking. Anyone remember what that was?
Thanks a lot. Sorry if I'm annoying you all by spamming questions :v:.
Wiki says Super AMOLED (not plus) but it's still probably better than other mobile screens
Engadget did an article on the screen, complaining that it did not have a + next to it, and when they did the review on the Nexus, they praised it It's a HD Super AMOLED screen FYI
Well, there you go then. :v:
it's seriously impossible to convince an apple fanboy that their products are not as good as advertised.
I think I converted my dad. He saw the iPhone commercial today (after him getting a HTC Rezound) and said "uhh, my phone can do all this and more? is this really what they're advertising?"
it's seriously impossible to convince an apple fanboy that their products are not as good as advertised.
yeah, but let's be honest here, it's also nigh impossible to tell an android fanboy that Apple products are good for something not that I side with Apple, but they just have really good advertising
Is 480p low enough?
I'd say it would end fine, you may or may not get lag, depending on what your playing on, which app. I mean I can watch 720p video flawlessly in my Sony Erricsson Xperia Mini Pro SK17a, with a 480x360 res 3-inch screen :v: Since 720p is useless to watch on my phone, i use max 480p video. You would need a large SD card for watching an entire season of anime or a bunch of movies.

What happened to the Facepunch Mobile thingy?
What happened to the Facepunch Mobile thingy?
The same thing that happened to open.gl.
it's seriously impossible to convince an apple fanboy that their products are not as good as advertised.
It took my dad a while to get me to become an Android person - I had a choice between HTC Desire and iPhone 4 at that point, and still had an iPhone 3G. The point when I was absolutely sure that I wanted to get the Desire was when I accidentally opened the notifications bar. Also it was Apple that did half of the trick - I really did believe that Apple stuff is flawless and amazing - until I updated my iPhone to iOS 4. It was so painfully limited and slow, and it didn't even add any cool features.
When I saw that you were the one to make a new post, I knew you'd brag about some feature in your phone :v:
Pretty much makes up almost half of the posts on this thread by everyone else :v:
I picked the S2 for performance, camera (quality) and finally the much lower price tag. The only thing I think I'll miss is NFC, quick shutter and the HD display.
Once I sell iPad I'll be getting the Galaxy Note.. Expect a lot of bragging, since I am planning to overshadow garrychencool with this.
yeah, but let's be honest here, it's also nigh impossible to tell an android fanboy that Apple products are good for something not that I side with Apple, but they just have really good advertising
Their advert is rather good, here's why. Their main advertising is about the phones features and why every other phone does not have these features. Also, they used phrase, "if you don't have an iPhone, you don't have an iPhone" which creates this want for this product because we all want stuff, we want stuff, we buy stuff, now when an ad pops up like this, at first you think you might not needed, but after saying that phrase, it makes you want it because you don't have it. And by pointing put the obvious, for retards, which further tells you that you don't have an iPhone, kinda mocking you. The iPhone becomes this necessity rather than a commodity or want to consumers. It also makes you feel bad that you don't have an iPhone which will prompt you to go and get it, like right after the ad? So in short, apple commercials are all about telling you that you need it because you need it, and if you don't have it, you don't have it, stressing that you don't have this product which makes you want it more. Remember when the iPhone came out? There was nothing like it, in terms of design at the time. For google Android the HTC ads were really nice, remember watching them over a year ago.
Pretty much makes up almost half of the posts on this thread by everyone else :v:
Atleast their phones are better.
For fucks sakes, people on the android market are as dumb as people on youtube. They bitch about the the new NVIDIA glowball demo not working when it clearly states it only works on Tegra 3 devices
Once I sell iPad I'll be getting the Galaxy Note.. Expect a lot of bragging, since I am planning to overshadow garrychencool with this.
Pfffffffffffffff, go ahead bro. The Note is a million times better than my phone anyways.
