[editline]12th December 2011[/editline] Nevermind locked bootloader.
Trying the update service now, if that doesnt work I'll try FlashTool
what have you done
I fixed it Now to try again and this time attempt to NOT fuck up ... I'll probably re-brick it in 5 minutes
I have an upgrade available. Should I get the HTC Rezound for $299 for Christmas, wait for the price to drop, or get another phone all together? [editline]1[/editline] I am able to get it for $199 actually, same question. Should I?
galaxy nexus or droid razr, i hate htc's shitty interface and the phone overall lacks brilliance
galaxy nexus or droid razr, i hate htc's shitty interface and the phone overall lacks brilliance
You can always get rid of htc's interface
You can always get rid of htc's interface
the notification bar is so absolutely shitty compared to my razr's my dad has the rezound and i got the razr, so i have an equal opinion!
Custom rom will allow you to have a normal notification bar
After un-bricking, which forced me to update the software in my phone to a later version, rooting doesnt work properly anymore It just spews a shitton of
/system/xbin/su: No such file or directory
[editline]13th December 2011[/editline] The phone also reconnects on Step #3, which causes SuperOneClick to stop
the notification bar is so absolutely shitty compared to my razr's my dad has the rezound and i got the razr, so i have an equal opinion!
Well, what would you say if I've used mostly HTC smartphones for the majority of my phone life? I've been using it for a while and I really enjoy HTC Sense IMO. I also like the form factor more, I just feel like the Razr is too big for my taste.
Managed to root it through FlashTool, flashing a new kernel now, progress bar in FlashTool isnt really moving, it annoys me

Hey guys, if I'm switching to a new ROM, how do I use Titanium Backup to backup my apps, messages, contacts etc?
Just picked up a usb otg cable for my sgs2. Best 2 dollars ever.
There are icons in my notification bar that I don't want to have shown (things like "USB connected", "power saving mode enabled", etc). Is there a way to hide them without changing the relevant parts of the environment (unplugging phone, disabling powersave) or flashing a custom ROM? It doesn't matter so much to me if they're still in the dropdown thingy (and I would prefer it in the case of the USB one). If relevant, my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. I'm on Gingerbread.
Hey guys, if I'm switching to a new ROM, how do I use Titanium Backup to backup my apps, messages, contacts etc?
You have to be rooted first but then you can back all of your apps up with a single batch operation. Since messaging is a system app, you might want to run the user apps then do messaging by itself and restore "data only" once you're on the new rom (assuming it's the same app on the new rom.) There is a free app called SMS backup and restore that works just fine though. Contacts are always synced to your Google account unless you have it turned off, which there's really no reason why you would.

The original date of the 9th was right, but it got delayed for some dumbass reason. All signs point to the 15th, and Nexus phones are about the best you can get, if we're looking at past trends. Be aware, though, Verizon's LTE phones have a horrible battery trackrecord (speaking as a Thunderbolt owner). So, before choosing a phone with LTE, make sure you read up on the reviews and think about investing in a larger battery.

I guess the priority list looks like Nexus > Rezound > Razr right now. [editline]1[/editline] I'm not really impressed by the specs of the Galaxy Nexus? Should I be?
or just disable the 4g lte
What's the point of a 4G phone if you're not using the 4G?
What's the point of a 4G phone if you're not using the 4G?
I think he's talking about if you're suffering battery issues. I would obviously shut it off if I'm just walking around somewhere, but if I need faster internet I would turn it on.

Its the fact that it's supported by Google directly and WILL have amazing ROM/mod support. Look at the Nexus S, it still pulls off good benchmarks even in a time of dual-core devices.
I think he's talking about if you're suffering battery issues. Battery notwithstanding, LTE is incredible. Even not going by the numbers and just impressions from day to day usage, it's noticeably faster, in my experience.

Even not going by the numbers and just impressions from day to day usage, it's noticeably faster, in my experience.
No doubt about that. That's why I'm looking for an LTE phone. I saw a video review that did a speedtest and you can pull speeds of like 27mbps download speeds. That's just ridiculous. Like I said I would only use it when I need it. I should also mention that while I'm a fan of rooting and modding, I probably won't be doing that with my new phone because I just lost the interest. That probably changes things. I think I'm going to grab the Rezound, because I can get it for cheap mostly, but I'm going to wait until the Nexus comes out.
What's the point of a 4G phone if you're not using the 4G?
It sort of sucks. We don't have 4G yet (I have no idea when, maybe within in a year?) but a lot of the Androids I'm looking at, are 4G, especially the Galaxy Nexus. And you have to pay extra for it, regardless of you wanting it or not.
