Still don't really understand the hate for the Xperia Play. Other than the light sensor, and maybe some less than impressive specs compared to the ~high-end phones~, it seems like a reasonable phone.
Maybe I'm just not picky when it comes to phones as much as the rest of facepunch.

That looks like it would work quite well.
The screen is bad, and honestly the times I would be using the gamepad would be when sitting down and probably resting my hands on a desk, and if I had a desk I could be using a Phonejoy instead.

Four inch screens are nice. At least this will fit in most pockets.
high end phones/specs = faster gameplay, loading, frame rate, etc.
Yes I know. Like I said, I don't think I'll be very picky, especially because my current phone (HTC Aria) cannot run angry birds. :v:
Why is everyone talking about swype?
TouchPal is superior
Oh wow.
Xperia Play on Verizon is free with 2 year contract.
I have AT&T.
Then again, it is only 50 dollars with a 2 year contract for AT&T.
And it is overpriced without a contract. holy christ.

Been talking about them 3rd-party keyboards.
A while back during the 10 cent sale, we talked about swiftkey x and SlideIt Keyboard since it was 10 cents. SlideIt had swype style features while swiftkey x keyboard had the most badass epic awesome superior auto-correct and it's keyboard that can really under how you type.

I meant a poor quality screen, not the size or resolution. It's like TN vs IPS.
I'm an Android newb and I'm planning on getting an Android-based phone.
I'd like it to have great processing power for slick usage (no lagging, smooth gaming, etc.), 4G LTE access, and a good camera. And I'd like to be able to upgrade to ICS when it releases on other phones.
I'm guessing the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket would meet this, but I want to make sure and ask if you guys have any other suggestions. (I can't wait for the Galaxy Nexus to release on AT&T, btw)
EDIT: Am I right saying there's no Android phones that limit rooting/flashing? Customization is my thing.

the SGS2 4G lte is good
Also, even the best android phones have lag.
[editline]17th December 2011[/editline]
You can root/flash all of them phones. Just you need to unlock bootloader. Newest devices may take time to crack to unlock the bootloader. And customization is really good out of the box/before root. But if you want GAWD mode on your device, then go for root.
After rooting, you can get new ROMS, overclock or underclock the cpu. Yeah, you can do whatever you want with it.
Also, any other preferences such as screen size, etc?

HTC and Motorola phones right now try to clamp down on rooting/flashing. It remains to be seen if HTC will really open up their phones to s-off to allow both. Motorola is less likely to do any of that.
If you get the Skyrocket, first thing to do when you go home should be to flash a custom ROM that gets rid of CarrierIQ on it.

Isn't the carrier iq software getting off all phones now?
Meh, the GTA III port is pretty lame

I don't think so. Thanks for the help!
You too, Hunt3r

It's a port of course and it's optimized for mobile devices.
Or you, like many, are not used to playing games with bad graphics...?

I am a huge nintendo fanboy, graphics are the least of my concern.
The driving controls are just really bad.
You also cannot remap a physical keyboard
Can anyone recommend me some good free widgets, lockscreens etc?
Beautiful Widgets and Fancy Widget are on GetJar. They're both great.
Which one you guys would be a better choice for my mother, Galaxy Ace or Gio?
Or neither? If so, what would you recommend? Thanks.
Can someone explain me the deal with Galaxy S2/Galaxy Note (bootloaders seem to be identical) bootloaders?
Do you need to unlock it? If so, how?
Why does that yellow triangle pop up?
What do I do to not void my warranty?
They're always unlocked. When you flash a custom ROM the yellow triangle will pop up until you flash a stock ROM again (using Kies or Odin). Whenever you flash a custom ROM using Odin the custom flash counter will increase. Resetting the counter is quite difficult and I think the only way is using a "USB JIG".
Android definitely needs to have notifications when programs cause excessive partial wakelock. If wakelock exceeds 6% over the screen on time, the user should be alerted and the process that is ultimately the culprit should be displayed.
BetterBatteryStats can do that (except for the notification). It helped me get my battery drain from 50% in 10 hours to 15% in the same time.

I really like the touch controls. I can barely play Pokemon with the touch controls, but for some reason GTA works really well. The graphics are awesome too. The standard settings on the SGSII look absolutely terrible, but after overwriting them with a Tegra II settings file it looks fucking awesome and is still completely smooth (without Chainfire!). I even underclocked my SGSII to 1GHz.
I don't know about you guys but the ICS keyboard is amazing for me, I much prefer it to swift key,
I don't know about you guys but the ICS keyboard is amazing for me, I much prefer it to swift key,
The devs have been doing a good job since 2.3.
As for swiftkey I do like it but the space bar is stupid.
SwiftKey is unusable to anyone who speaks more than one language.
SwiftKey is unusable to anyone who speaks more than one language.
What? I use it in German and English and it automatically suggests the correct language based on the first word(s). I've absolutely never had it pick the wrong language...
SwiftKey is unusable to anyone who speaks more than one language.
Nahh, I find it to be very fluent in use and you just have to get used to it.
It's way better than my old phone regardless where I had to manually switch between the languages when I texted to people because of the damn auto-correct.
Wow why are you still on Froyo
Because my phone is my only source for internet right now and I don't want to brick / lose that. I couldn't search for help if I fucked up.
Just got a Huawei Ideos U8150 for free, it's decent even though its somewhat aged. Do you guys have any suggestions on a custom rom to stick in it?
How can I root a zte blade?

give me that settings file and then show me where to put it, please?

Put in the GTA 3 folder (/sdcard/Android/data/com.rockstar.gta3/files/GTA3)
It makes the controls tiny, but you can change them back to the big ones in the settings.
