With the keyboard dock, it really is a very different device I had to wait a week or two after getting my pad before getting the keyboard dock, and when I did I was surprised at the difference it made for typing related tasks (even for simple browsing) and how convenient having the option for a netbook setup was, with trackpad too if I didn't feel like leaning over to touch the screen Plus there are a few custom roms laying around, all of which improve speed and allow overclocking mostly, plus supercurio tailored his voodoo sound kernel for the transformer. Also of note is that there is a bounty lying around for someone to port TouchWiz UX, so it is reasonably likely that something will emerge soon
I like how now people are offering money to have touchwiz ported to devices. But all the die hard Sense users still claim that it's the worst UI ever made.
I also like the look of the EEE Pad UI OOB. It's not great, but it's not bad enough to warrant replacing.
Yeah, I went back to the Xoom/stock buttons for a few days and hated them (which is the only real UI difference) Also, it's worth noting that the Transformer comes preloaded with Splashtop (decent remote desktop), Polaris Office (generally regarded as the best Honeycomb office suite), MyNet (DLNA streamer) and MyBooks (decent eBook/PDF reader), all of which is useful (and not bloat!)
Off all my power control functions, and still drop quite fast. Also on juicedefender. And same. Set all my bightness to zero, still quite fast. Also, I always browse shit in the morning, and it drops by 2% in just 5 mins. WTF?
Flash villain rom or cm7.
So I wanted to see how long my phone could last with some light use. 3d 3h 43m. Light use though, but still pretty damn happy knowing the battery will last a while even though the battery bar is almost completely empty.
Sweet, I got my Galaxy S2!
Android Market is much better, bottom line. What did you see that made you think otherwise?

The overall app quality pales in comparison to the App Store.
There's no possible way the both of you have gone through every single bloody app, correctly rated them and then somehow based your opinion on that. Comparing the Android Market and the Apple App Store is like comparing apples to oranges. Sure, they're both stores which you can buy applications from, but they're for completely different platforms.
Rate Winner if your main phone currently is a HTC Dream/T-Mobile G1 or rate agree if your main phone is currently a HTC Magic/T-Mobile MyTouch 3G. Rate Dumb if you don't have either, and friendly if you've owned one. I think I have the oldest Android phone on FP :v:

Or do I have to eat every orange and apple to understand that apples are sweeter than oranges?
Do I have to use every single Windows PC and Mac PC to understand that Windows PCs are better than Macs?
Different platforms for different tasks. Saying Windows is better than OS X means you weight more value to something more than something else, and Windows is better at that thing than OS X.
Why is everyone getting the SGS2 at once?
Why is everyone getting the SGS2 at once?
Bandwagon.
Different platforms for different tasks. Saying Windows is better than OS X means you weight more value to something more than something else, and Windows is better at that thing than OS X.
Right, but I can take one look at the top 50 apps on iOS, one look at the top 50 on android and it's pretty clear which one has overall higher quality apps. The Market might have more features but for functionality the App Store has everything I need, in an easy, accessible space - Top free/paid, search, and Genius.
App store is better. It's the only reason why the iphone still holds top spot.
App store is better. It's the only reason why the iphone still holds top spot.
That's also the reason why I got an iPod over an iPhone - portable entertainment device used optimally for the app store. The iPhone is the same thing... but with SMS and Phone. I won't disagree that Android pisses all over iOS everywhere else, but saying that I have to try every app on either device is just stupid.
One thing I hate about the App Store, and Mac OS in general, is that every damn app costs money.
One thing I hate about the App Store, and Mac OS in general, is that every damn app costs money.
Most of the good ones are paid and the concept of the app store on Mac OS is so ridiculous. I think I saw a keyboard macro "app" that cost upwards $50.
I never found a good free iPhone Explorer app for Mac OS. WHY?
Steve Jobs doesn't want you to play with his toy using his other toys. :v:
If the phone is completely charged, no reason to keep it plugged in I'd say. Don't know if the phone has a function to cut charging when full. I would hope it does. You should run down the battery to dead atleast once a month from what I read.
Lithium ion batteries do not have a memory, so you don't need to do this. And the phone has a charging circuit built in, li-ion batteries are pretty volatile and it would be insane not to have one. [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline]
One thing I hate about the App Store, and Mac OS in general, is that every damn app costs money.
Paid apps tend to be more expensive on Android in my experience.

is the Droid X2 a really good phone?
My experience with the market and android apps in general is like not unlike windows software and the web, but that's what I was expecting. There are some really good and really shit apps out there and everything isn't laid at your feet, but I find the end result is something you can get a lot more out of and tweak to your satisfaction.
App store is better. It's the only reason why the iphone still holds top spot.
Replace "App store is better." with "Apple's really good at marketing for stupid people."
Replace "App store is better." with "Apple's really good at marketing for stupid people."
The app store has a high level of quality control, market doesn't. This is both a blessing and a curse.
The app store has a high level of quality control, market doesn't. This is both a blessing and a curse.
Well atleast you can install apps from other sources than the market. Unless you have a carrier locked, or few unfortunate Android-based Motorola phones.
Moto just released the 2.3.3 update for the Atrix. It's not OTA and must be manually installed. Could an Atrix owner install it and see if Moto kept their promise regarding unlocking the bootloader with gingerbread?
Samsung gets updates out faster than any other manufacturer. The SGS is the only non nexus device running official 2.3.4. Your carriers are the ones that hold back updates, I fail to understand how such a large majority of Americans don't get this. Not that I think you're stupid or something, but I hear so many times how Samsung never updates and it's always an all caps post with bad spelling from people residing in the US who don't use their brains. To answer your comparison. It's a hell of a lot more than a tad faster. Sense 3.0 isn't refined, it's unpolished and resource hogging. If the EVO 3D didn't have Sense then yah, it would only be a tad slower than the SGS II. But as it stands the UI takes a large amount of cpu and gpu power to render, and uses a ton of ram to run.
Oh, I see. Thanks for being so nice about it, I'm just now getting into smartphones (mostly because I've felt they are too slow until now) and I appreciate the help! I'm going to wait for the SGS II and test it out for a while.
Just installed a boot animation, simulating a BIOS loading :iia:
