Is battery calibration supposed to improve battery life or is it just a case of placebo?
My Nexus S used to be around 30% at the end of the day before calibration. Right now, after 13hr on the battery with decent amount of usage, it's at 60%. Same settings, same everything.
I always got the impression that battery calibration was only supposed to help get a more accurate reading of the battery charge...why do I have twice the charge at the end of the day than before?
I've had my battery discharged for 50% for 6 hours in standby mode.
I wonder if it is the ROM's fault , or something else

Check battery usage. In fact, post a screenshot.
60% Screen
~15% Android platform
~15 some other stuff including WI-FI
I don't actually remember

How often is it awake according to the bars?

Just charged it , so all data is reset

Well you could always try calibrating it. The other alternative is using Juice Defender which is highly praised around these parts.
It discharged by 3 percent since my last post
It is terrifying

what about battery life?
what about battery life?
There isn't really anyone here that has it, we don't know anything except what we read from spec sheets and reviews.
"Tip #2: Avoid allowing your device to discharge completely
Every wondered why your modern phone, PDA or iPod is able to cheerfully tell you that “Your battery is now exhausted” for several seconds on its brightly-lid LCD screen before switching off? The reason is simple; there is an artificial circuit that shuts off the device when the charge in the battery is too low.
This extraneous circuit is built to protect from the damage that could result if the charge of your lithium ion battery falls too low. If you still don’t get it: if the charge of your lithium ion battery falls too low, the battery can get irreversibly and permanently damaged. So since Lithium Ion has no “memory effect”, it is better to simply charge your portable device as and when you can or remember.
To set your mind at ease, a “charge cycle” means a single iteration of depleting followed by a re-charge until 100% of battery charge. If you consume 50% of your iPod’s battery on day 1, recharge to 100% at night, and do the same thing on day 2, then you would have just finished up one charge cycle of its battery life.
Constantly recharging a lithium ion battery does not shorten the battery life more than normal usage would
Hence constantly recharging a lithium ion battery does not shorten the battery life more than normal usage would. Avoid letting it sit on empty for too long; instead, keep it charged-up if you can."

Thanks for the link, I read so much about charging and still find new stuff.

Too bad all of them look horrible.

I'd rather prefer a rubber case.
Also protects the phone from the sudden shock of hitting a hard surface after falling.
AND they don't look like they're part of a rainbow.
Do these unlocking websites work?
The baby pink one of those is the only one that looks half decent.

My phone was in a similar state until I calibrated it the other night. What calibrating does is increases the accuracy of the battery percentage that your phone displays. What you're saying implies that your phone probably would have taken longer to go from 30% to 29% than it would to go from 100% to 99%.
Read that back to myself and seems a little confusing, oh well.

Depends on the website. If you're at unlockurfone4freenoscam.com.ru then no, they're probably gonna take your money and run. There are some reputable ones around and they're always recommended on device specific forums, usually in a sticky.

Also while I'm here; God damn I am getting so sick of my Pulse dropping texts. Sort of want to grab something new, but my contract expires in December which is close enough to make it silly to spend say, £100 on a Blade or something, especially when I've got so little money to spare as it is. If I wasn't so reliant on Gmail and Google Calendar I would have started using my old Nokia again.
Anyone have any experiences with Case-Mates Tough Cases? They sound.......... tough.... I was gonna pick one up for the SGS2 but they're out of stock atm.

Also, the cheapo shipping option says it would take around 3-4 weeks to get here. HOly shit.
Guys, guess who got a SGS2 :smug:

Yes.
Alright, someone help me out here.
My parents are kind of tech illiterate and I want an Android tablet. I'd be using my money to buy it of course but that's not the issue. They don't think a tablet is useful, and I'd like to show them that it's useful (and with a $100 off coupon, even better.)
I'd use it a whole bunch in bed and it'd be really great to take on the go - my iPod is used primarily for music, camera, and the occasional App Store exclusive game.
I want the Acer Iconia Tab, since it seems to be a little better than the Asus EEE Pad Transformer (Not to mention the EEE Pad's keyboard dock is $150). It'd be around $300 with the coupon, and I'd get it from the local Office Depot (They honor competitor coupons.)
So what do I have to do to convince them that a tablet would be useful? Like I said, I would NOT be using their money. At all. I've got a $14/hr job so 3 days of work is around $350 gross, so that pays off the tablet real quick-like.
There is NOTHING stopping me from buying it myself right now but I'd like their approval as to not get on their bad side (I still live at home so I'd want to respect their wishes. Also, room & board for college kinda is expensive).
Anyone think it's worth updrading my SGS2 to 2.3.4? I already have root and it seems that I lose it if I use some of the leaks, and I don't know how to flash a recovery.
Flash a 2.3.4 based rooted-rom instead.
I hope the SGSII is coming out early August.

The transformer is better than the iconia. The iconia uses a TN panel while the Transformer uses an IPS one. The screen is not the place to cut costs and ACER made that mistake.
Unless of course you REAAALLLLYYY need to plug in USB devices. People can't do it with the ipad and they're content.

Not really. I assume your earlier post was showing that you were posting from an SGS II. The SGS II hardware accelerated browser is the fastest browser you can find. Renders the webpages on the mali-400.
