Leaked Samsung slider not the Galaxy S II after all, expect the svelte version we all know and love By Jerry Hildenbrand 29 Jul 2011 2:51 pm Remember that Samsung Galaxy S II slider that we saw a few days back? Turns out that it likely isn't the Galaxy S II after all, according to BGR, who leaked out the original images. Just as we already reported, AT&T is now looking to release two new Samsung phones, one being the SGH-i927 with a sliding horizontal qwerty keyboard (pictured above, and mentioned here as well), and a more conventional styled phone that will be the Samsung Galaxy S II for the number two US carrier. While we still don't know all the details, the slider will be running Gingerbread and have a current version of the Linux kernel -- both very good things. We also know it will have a nice looking sliding keyboard, and offer another great choice to Android fans here in the states. We approve. Shiiiit.. I just realized there's a random circle on the bottom left corner of the screen on my SGSII.... Like this but on the left: Most of the time it's not noticeable but it's still gay that it's there. I can still return so I'll probably do that..... =/
Got an MB501 motorolla "CliqXT", motorolla isn't updating any higher then 1.5 what fuckers
Oh come on, I just got my Inspire and now that is coming to the U.S.
I told you not to buy the inspire a while back.
I told you not to buy the inspire a while back.
That was before we had any hiny of the GSII coming to the U.S. It was the best phone on AT&T at the time.
That was before we had any hiny of the GSII coming to the U.S. It was the best phone on AT&T at the time.
I disagree. I think the Infuse is better than the Inspire with the SAMOLED+ screen, cpu and storage.
I've obtained an Evo 3D. I'm loving it. Upgraded from an old pre-3G blackberry pearl :v:

[editline]30th July 2011[/editline] I wonder what will garrynohome's reaction be if this is true?
"Samsung's application processors, although cruder and behind Qualcomm's, may be a good fit for lower-end models in the global market" What are they smoking? Samsung's chips are the fastest on the market and only Nvidia comes close.
I disagree. I think the Infuse is better than the Inspire with the SAMOLED+ screen, cpu and storage.
Screen is way too big for the resolution it has, Inspire 4G would be better in that case, the CPU can be overclocked, I know this because I'm running my Inspire 4G at 1.19 GHz right now. Storage is admittedly meh, but it's just for ROMs and applications, the Infuse is similarly limited in those areas of storage. If you really want tons and tons of storage for music and movies, my suggestion is to keep a ziploc of microSD cards. The DHD/Inspire 4G can pretty much hotswap MicroSD if you don't accidentally unseat the SIM while pulling the cover. Inspire 4G can safely OC to about 1.4 GHz, and around 24 hour battery life with around 2-3 hours of screen on time without huge amounts of effort. Definitely not on stock ROM. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] What just happened there [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] I would be okay with HTC going to Samsung SoCs.

It's .2 inches bigger than the inspire, that's a negligible difference. You're grasping at straws to try and invalidate reasons why the infuse is better, but you haven't succeeded. The Infuse has 4 times the storage in the Inspire so it's not "similarly" limited in terms of storage. The CPU at stock 1.2GHz is probably faster than the Qualcomm chip in the inspire at 1.4GHz as well. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline]
"Samsung's application processors, although cruder and behind Qualcomm's, may be a good fit for lower-end models in the global market" What are they smoking? 4.3 inches is really the limit at which 800x480 will still look okay, I've read reports about how the Infuse has aliased text from the stretch. Just a personal thing, some will prefer just a bigger screen in general. For clarification, the Infuse has all of twice the storage space for applications, and the rest is formatted as FAT32. This is really all moot at the end of the day when you can get a 32 GB MicroSD with sd-ext. Storage isn't really a big deal for the most part for anyone with a bit of know-how. The CPU at 1.2 GHz will probably be faster, but when the Inspire safely OCs to 1.4 GHz, I mean that it should last for the term of one's contract. If someone gets a good SoC, there are kernels out there that will let them run 1.9 GHz no big deal. Looking at the CPU stats though the time spent at such a high frequency is so miniscule that it seems that most Android work never needs it. The Infuse in my opinion is really about the same as the Inspire once rooted. I would gander the battery life would be better at the end of the day, but I'm reluctant to trust Samsung when they have a disturbing tendency to botch things like GPS reception in the Captivate. Personally I think the difference is too small if one was waiting on the Infuse to not buy the Inspire. I was in a similar situation, and I ended up deciding that it was no big deal, and that I really didn't want to wait around another 6 months to get dual core smartphones on AT&T with LTE capability. Once true 4G drops on AT&T I'll probably be looking for a quad core 2 GHz smartphone running Android 5.3. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Also 'dat HTC Sense. Most people say it's bloatware, but even DeSense scripts will keep a lot of stuff from HTC Sense like the contacts, dialer, etc.

Also 800x480 on 4.3 inches isn't noticeably better than on 4.5 inches. It's a difference of 9ppi, that's negligible. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Now you say "waiting on the infuse". If it wasn't out at the moment then yah I'd pick up the inspire. But now that both are released and are the same price range there's no reason not to pick the infuse.
A step forward. Bad sales of the Sensation could be a cause for the decision. I honestly don't care about the cpu power as much as I care about having a lot of internal storage. With a 32GB SD card and the 1GB in the Sensation I can't fit all my videos apps and FLAC music. Pisses me off that the Galaxy S II has no 32GB version, even 16GB+32GB is pretty limiting for me.
Why the hell do you have FLAC encoded music on a non-audiophile device?? Really, convert that shit to high bitrate MP3.
Why the hell do you have FLAC encoded music on a non-audiophile device?? Really, convert that shit to high bitrate MP3.
Do you have any idea how powerful and clear that wolfson WM8994 DAC is? That's as audiophile as portable devices get.
That funny moment where a friend gets an HTC Sensation "just to get a new phone" but i have to tell him that he should turn off tethering/hotspot, he thought it gave him an internet connnection :v: The Sensation is really neat by the way, very sleek.
am i the only one who actually likes htc sense?
am i the only one who actually likes htc sense?
HTC Sense is built for HTC devices that are made the year after that version of Sense releases. It's very resource hungry and their current devices are significantly slower due to resource usage by the UI. For example the Sensation Sense 3.0 still has occasional stutters and slowdowns with the animations, because the hardware isn't powerful enough(gpu specifically) to handle all the 3D animations and effects. It's definitely pretty, but it isn't worth it for how much it cripples a device.
Any opinions on galaxy 5?I am quite happy with it.So far...

The more ROMs in ROMManager the better I guess!

My phone's battery has been on 16% for 3 hours, under heavy use. I think my battery has evolved and will never run out. :downs:

What's so great about MIUI?
What's so great about MIUI?
It looks damn amazing and imo it's faster than anything else I've put on my X. Not only that but the battery life seems to be better, and there's much more customization
Hmmm, is it more of a overhaul or simply a skinned rom(Like all the dumb roms that just make your phone blue/green/red) Also, what rom should I install on my GSII? I don't want those skinned roms.
