MIUI is a complete overhaul. Don't use MIUI or CM7 yet though, they aren't ready. Just install a deodexed stock ROM like Villain ROM.
Ok, thanks. MIUI looks really promising. Lots of cool themes. And everyone's homescreen I saw with MIUI looks brilliant. And about that Villain ROM, anything special?
The theme manager crashes on my DX whenever I look at a theme though :(
Even with a dual core?
The HTC Sensation I used at Bell had noticeable lag and slowdowns when switching between homescreen pages or when there were more than a few Sense widgets out at a time. Keep in mind this was a store model with no crap to slow it down other than what is included.
I think I found an easter egg on my Droid X2. Type "Sense is" (without quotes) on the keyboard and the word "bad" comes up next to the period. :v:

What the hell is motoblur?
What the hell is motoblur?
Motorola's Sense
What the hell is motoblur?
the MOST ugly UI I've even seen
If anyone has any idea how to use an Android device as a webcam properly via USB or Bluetooth, I'd appreciate it. I'm trying DroidCam right now, but I can't seem to get it to show up as a device in Skype. I'll need to try a reboot soon.
Still ignoring the fact that the SAMOLED+ screen is on a completely different level than the SLCD in the inspire. Also 800x480 on 4.3 inches isn't noticeably better than on 4.5 inches. It's a difference of 9ppi, that's negligible. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Now you say "waiting on the infuse". If it wasn't out at the moment then yah I'd pick up the inspire. But now that both are released and are the same price range there's no reason not to pick the infuse.
SAMOLED+ vs the ASV MVA/PVA screen of the Inspire isn't that big a deal in terms of "omg colors", my brother has a Captivate and I don't see it as a better screen in that aspect. I will concede that SAMOLED+ has immensely better power consumption when so much of Android uses black colors that don't require backlights in SAMOLED+ screens. In the software aspect, it's still somewhat disappointing that TouchWiz and stock Android don't have a way of automatically linking contacts and such. If HTC went with Exynos and SAMOLED+ in conjunction with it's 960x540 resolution, it'd probably be one of the best phones, hardware-wise. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Also HTC Sense really should not lag all that much, on stock ROMs it will, but with optimized HTC source ROMs even Rosie 3D and it's 3D widgets weren't really laggy on my Inspire/DHD. I'd expect zipaligned/deodexed ROMs with BFS kernels and much of the background bloat that HTC includes (field test apps/sending dumps to HTC) being removed, along with standard ROM crapware being removed, to make Sense 3.0 on the Sensation incredibly smooth. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Also a better designed cpu governor w/ mild OC will keep everything zippy outside of the launcher. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Also MotoBlur is possibly the worst UI "customization" to Android I've ever seen. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Also Infuse has 256 MB less RAM than the Inspire, so the launcher isn't killed from running out of memory. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] I'm really enjoying this automerge :v: [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] I think I speak for everyone when I hope that the specs on the rumored Nexus Prime are right.
Haa, nevermind, I managed to get DroidCam working. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Except the phone application really likes rebooting my phone, but I think I have some ideas concerning that. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Stress-testing it, it looks to me like the crashes were related to the way how the application dimmed the screen, as I suspected (I appear to have an eye for these things, for some reason). It's working fine at the moment, we will see what a couple hours of usage do to it. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Lame, this app has a time limit.
SAMOLED+ vs the ASV MVA/PVA screen of the Inspire isn't that big a deal in terms of "omg colors", my brother has a Captivate and I don't see it as a better screen in that aspect.
Nice argument. I see no difference so it isn't a valid point. Anybody here coming to a SGS II will tell you how much better the screen looks compared to LCDs from other manufacturers.
Also Infuse has 256 MB less RAM than the Inspire, so the launcher isn't killed from running out of memory.
That ram advantage is rendered invalid due to Sense using such a large amount of ram to run. For example. The Sensation has around 332mb of usable ram and it has 786mb of ram total. In contrast the Galaxy S running touchwiz typically has 329mb of usable ram despite only having 512mb total.
If HTC went with Exynos and SAMOLED+ in conjunction with it's 960x540 resolution, it'd probably be one of the best phones, hardware-wise.
Samsung wont sell HTC SAMOLED panels. Supplies are limited and it's a selling point for Samsung made devices. Even if they did they won't be qHD. Samsung is moving to a laser based production method that will allow for resolutions upwards of 300ppi. Therefore we'll probably be seeing a 1280x720 SAMOLED+ panel in the future.
Weird, I got my Blade with 2.2 installed and it doesn't detect 512MB of RAM, only 256MB. Installing CM7 didn't solve the problem. It's a Gen2 device, by the way.

I don't own a blade so I can't help much but I remember reading on the CM7 wiki that some models need to have the extra 256mb unlocked with some sort of flash.

I have to flash a ROM to get the 512MB unlocked, then I can flash any ROM I want and the RAM will remain unlocked.
I have a SGS2 and compared to my friends iPhone 4 the difference isn't that big unless you are looking at pictures with a pure black background in low light conditions.
That's the thing. The iPhone 4 is an IPS panel. If it isn't AMOLED then it's as good as it gets in terms of black levels, viewing angles and color quality. Compare it to the SLCD in HTC or moto devices and you'll notice the difference. Look at some pictures on both devices side by side.
I know this is a long shot but are there any music players that support ATRAC? I sold my walkman for my SGS II.
I know this is a long shot but are there any music players that support ATRAC? I sold my walkman for my SGS II.
Just convert them to a more common format?
Just convert them to a more common format?
Doing that now, was just wondering if there was a player already so it'd save me some time.
It's been over 2 weeks since I've last updated my nightly. I must be sick. Correcting mistake.
Another standby test. 5days and 10hours. Very happy. [editline]31st July 2011[/editline] Well it's 12% left.
What do you guys think is the best looking phone?I'll say the evo 4g
What do you guys think is the best looking phone?I'll say the evo 4g
I like the design of the Nexus S the best.
Looking to buy a cheapo Android tablet. Was thinking this: 7inch, Capacitive http://www.lowbuying.com/7-inch-capacitive-screen-nec-renesas-ev2cortex-a9-dual-core-android-22-tablet-pc-p-86.html or: 10.1inch, Resistive http://www.lowbuying.com/dropad-d10-upgraded-android-23-tablet-pc-101-inch-freescale-imx515-cortex-a8-touch-screen-wifi-p-89.html Any ideas?
I like the design of the Nexus S the best.
I heard it has signal issues that 2.3.5 didn't fix.
I heard it has signal issues that 2.3.5 didn't fix.
First of all it doesn't. Second of all we're talking about how the design is aesthetically. The Nexus S 4G has signal issues that are purely the fault of Sprint. I never said the nexus S 4G, I said the Nexus S.
Didn't catch that, sorry.
What phone design do you like the best? To answer your question before. Don't get a resistive tablet. They're less responsive and Android is designed for capacitive devices.

I've always hated that on my Incredible and Evo.
