Ok well, if those instructions sounded complex you should leave your phone with the stock rom. That's actually as basic as it can get.
Back when CM7 i9000 was in its infancy you had to flash 2.2. Then you needed to flash speedmod. Then you needed to wipe the system, data, cache and datadata. Then you went to ODIN and flashed the seperate CM7 kernel in ODIN. Then finally you went to recovery and flashed the CM7 zip followed by a wipe of data and cache.

Also you can't really "brick" a Samsung device. Worst case scenario is you have to flash back to stock with ODIN.
Surely I can find a tutorial video on youtube somewhere right?

Please, please, please tell me you're joking? Pretty much everythread mentions it and it's dotted everywhere in the SGSII section.
It's Clockworkmod recovery.
You'll have to flash one of chainfire's kernels. This just happened to be on the first page of development: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Google is your friend too...

Again, I'm sorry. If only there is still the bad reading rating.
:(
Is there any real difference between rooting the i9100 and the i9100M (North American version) or should a guide for the international version work with one I have with Bell Canada?
I think I'm minutes away from ordering my HTC Desire S, from Amazon. Any better UK retailers?
Oh the excitement.
I'd buy a Google Nexus S if I were you.

It's a hell of a lot better than a desire s
It's also the best single core CPU to date with a great GPU and screen.
And it's a Nexus device.

No thanks, definitely trying out a HTC.
£319.33 for a Desire S on Amazon, SIM free.

No SD card slot? Every phone has one. That's reason enough to not buy it.

I just ran a comparison on Phone Arena, in what ways is the Nexus far better than the Desire S? I didn't see much difference.
you are so fucking dumb..
You buy into marketing ploys apparently, I don't. Who's dumb now?

The Hummingbird is THE best Single core CPU in a mobile phone to date along with GPU.
The Nexus has a better screen.
It's faster due to no bloatware.
It's a Google experience device and will always have the latest updates, HTC are awful with updates.
faze, chill out.
Then your bullshit insult is useless.
It's not an insult, the Nexus S is good for the everyday Android user. An SD card slot is not even required when you have an internal memory of 16 GB's...
Who cares if he buys a desire S? We can move on knowing he purchased an inferior device, it doesn't affect us.
Just don't give him support when he comes because he need unofficial updates.
Just report Faze for flaming and move on. Who cares if he buys a desire S? We can move on knowing he purchased an inferior device, it doesn't affect us.

This isn't an HTC device where you need an SD card. Unless all your music is encoded in FLAC then 16GB is plenty. iPhone users(the biggest app consumers) manage to fit all their crap into 16GB.
