Now that is awesome. I know it was done before but now with an app and via bluetooth!
I bought a Transformer (+ keyboard/dock) for everyday use/college, and I love it. All of it. It's so awesome.
What pisses me off is that Gameloft doesn't support the Transformer, and they've got some pretty good HD games that I'd love to play.
From what I understand, the Transformer, hardware wise, is identical to the Xoom, which I believe they do support.
I mean, it's not like the Transformer wouldn't be able to run any of the games they have, so what's the reason for not supporting it? I read that it was something about waiting until the Transformer got popular enough, but didn't it sell out on the first day, and it already has millions sold.

I just wanna play some cool games.
Dude. The Xoom apk works on all Tegra 2 devices.
Eats battery.
Also, before I flash MIUI, I have some questions. Do note that they are likely dumb, and you might not want to answer them.
Do I have to wipe my phone memory before flashing?
If I want to go back to a Stock rom, how do I do it?
And non-MIUI questions:
How do I get rid of the phone checking on my custom firmwares?
Please just stay with the stock ROM for a few weeks and read as many threads on XDA as you can and soon you will start to become familiar with flashing and understand what's actually happen. If you try to do anything before that point you will either need a lot of help or most likely destroy something (in the best case just your data).
Also something to think about

Keep in mind Acer makes the iconia, one of the highest selling honeycomb tablets on the market.

Also heads up for all the Canadians that were asking me. All the carriers reinstated the $30/6GB plan so call in to get it before it disappears on sept 30.

Now that's a man I can agree with. I really don't see the appeal of a tablet over a smartphone notebook/netbook combo.

If Samsung makes one with their WQXGA screen I'll buy it just because watching movies and doing browsing would be amazing on a 2560x1600 panel.
Right now with 1280x800, no thanks.

I'd rather watch a movie on my 1280x720 TV screen than on a 16000x9000 10'' monitor I have to hold in my hands.

Oh god that's awesome. Too bad it doesn't work with stock SGSII yet. I'm booting my old CM'ed Spica just to try this out!
Edit: Oh, nevermind. It's not free and doesn't even let me pair without using a PC
Due to the way pairing is done with the controllers, you need to manually pair your controller with the PC utility 'SixaxisPairTool' (available on the website) and a mini-USB cable.
What's USB-OTG for if not for pairing a Sixaxis with my phone.

Yeah I didn't even read the instructions properly where they say it doesn't work on newer Samsung devices. Hopefully they can find a work around/Samsung includes the required protocol in an update or something. Also, if they could get the USB protocol working for setting the bluetooth address they could just use that for actually reading from the controller (It's the same protocol).
Also it's only £1, if it worked with the SGS2 I would instantly buy it. That's really not much to ask for something that has never been done before on an Android device.

I'd rather watch a high def movie on a WQXGA screen over a WXGA one. And again it'll be much better for viewing photos. Why take an 8MP photo if you only have a .9MP screen? Reading text will also be sharper as well.
I am the only man, who couldn't simply install CM7 from the first time
Spent my whole night.
I like it so far, but it is really crashy
What phone are you using, and what exact CM7 release?
What phone are you using, and what exact CM7 release?
I9000, last night Nightly build
It is supposed to be crashy
[editline]5th August 2011[/editline]
I had to format both my SD and external Sd to make it work
So much free space, and nothing actually lost because of Titanium backup
Magically apps now take ~500 mb, and before it was like ~4GB
Yeah, nightlies may have a lot of problems. You probably should flash 7.1.0RC. Although I don't know why you needed to format your storage.
LOL. The i9000 nightly isn't crashy. I'm running it right now, and it never crashes.

You fucked up with your install big time.
It's basically a stable build now.
Dude. The Xoom apk works on all Tegra 2 devices.
How can I buy the Xoom version if it won't show me any games for my "unsupported" transformer?

Apps like Pulse randomly FCes
And I also wiped and repartitioned my device after formatting sdcards, so it's not my install, which fails

I was trying to make a symlink to make external work like normal
[editline]6th August 2011[/editline]
How often do you guys update Nightlies?
I think I'll update it once a week

Aw, that Skype didn't work on my Xoom. It installs but there's no option to enable video calling. So I assume it's not supported?

Yeah, but the video chat option is nowhere to be seen.

Bump. Can someone answer please? PyroCF? garrynohome? I successfully flashed CF-root
i have a motorola triumph which is hella sw8 but i'm wondering about the hdmi output
is it capable of watching 720p movies? it's got basically the same internals as the htc thunderbolt (1ghz qualcomm snapdragon, same gpu IIRC)
it would be quite comical if my phone could do that because my family is yet to purchase anything that can watch 720p video on our $1000 1080p hdtv
Yeah, but the video chat option is nowhere to be seen.
The cam must be also enabled in the general Skype settings

HDMI output makes it sound like it's fully capable of outputting 1080p, but maybe there's some restriction due to hardware. As long as you aren't trying to play it over a 70 inch DLP rear projection or something it should be fine.

You will have to do a full wipe of your phone memory/cache before flashing. The ROM maker might have a file that will do it for you that you flash before flashing the ROM. Going back to stock ROM is done via either a backup in recovery or flashing a stock ROM image available on the internet.
In theory your phone should have a setting in "About Phone" or something similar that enables/disables auto-checking for phone updates.
Also sometimes I wish all LCDs on smartphones were held to the same quality as the Motorola Droid 1 (http://www.displayblog.com/2010/09/28/displaymate-super-amoled-vs-retina-display/)

what the fuck no automerge?
I bought an samsung galaxy s2, and have some questions
1. I don't get any push notifications on things like twitter, facebook, email. Do I need to enable them some how? They only update when I enter the app.
2. Can I somehow format the phone to give me a clean android install - without all the samsung and o2 apps?
3. How do you generally update your phone? Is it over the air? Or do you have to install a vendor specific program on your PC?

Twitter only gives you a notification if you get a mention, and Facebook only does it if you get a message.
There might be a way to change it but I've never tried

2. Can I somehow format the phone to give me a clean android install - without all the samsung and o2 apps?

I'm sure the SGS2 has a stock rom available, but I'd suggest CyanogenMod, it's based on the Android Source code so it's like stock++
3. How do you generally update your phone? Is it over the air? Or do you have to install a vendor specific program on your PC?
You might get an OTA update, however most people who use aftermarket ROMs just install the next version of the ROM
I think I bricked my phone. I wiped sd card, Dalvik-cache and battery stats. Now when I on, I only get the samsung galaxy S II I9I00 and the excalmation mark. Then, after that, nothing. But Odin mode still works. Did I do anything wrong?
All I get is a black screen after the alert sign. Doesn't goes to home or anything. Press buttons. Nothing works.

1) The Android Apps provided by facebook and twitter themselves aren't that good to be honest! 3rd Party apps like FriendCaster and another pone for twitter do support push notifications though. I think the official facebook app only has push notifications for messages.
2) You'll have to flash a custom ROM to get rid of all that, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124396 This ROM has all bloatware removed, but in the future I'd personally look into CyanogenMod 7 which is stock Android with a few tweaks and extra features.
3) Update on stock ROMs can be done over the air but are mostly done via Kies on the computer. Custom ROMs are updated more often.
Have a browse around XDA-Developers, you'll learn a lot about what you can do with it.
