Psx emulation on android really sucks. I was trying to get Mortal kombat trilogy, MK4, Metal gear solid, Crash tag team racing and tekken 3 to work, and only Tekken 3 worked with something like 3 fps ( and it was writing, that the speed is 40+fps)
Gran Turismo 2 plays flawlessly on my HTC Desire Z with the FPse PSX emulator.
Though I replaced HTC's own shit with CM7 to free up some resources.
Only problem is that I need a physical joypad to be able to control a 600hp RWD car, since I can't control it with only mashing touchscreen buttons.
Bitch keeps spinning out on me during cornering.

I agree. I've been playing Crash Team Racing on my Nexus S with FPse, FPS wavers a bit but most of the time stays at a solid 60fps (capped by frame limiter). If you're looking for PSX emulation, go for FPse. It's great.

ShootMe interferes with the emulation, but you can see it working fine in this screenshot.
The Samsung Galaxy S II is taking a turn down the Roman mythological road for its T-Mobile launch in the US, as leaked pictures of the Samsung Hercules have emerged.
It was rumoured that T-Mo may be missing out on the Sammy's big boy phone, with the Hercules originally rumoured as a stop-gap device. But not so it seems, as a snap of the back of the handset confirms that it is, in fact, the Galaxy S II.
Already widely available in Europe and Asia, and selling like hot-cakes, Statesiders are still waiting for an official launch of Samsung's flagship smartphone - although it is expected to happen this month.
Like the original Galaxy S handset, US carriers will be giving the handset individual names - Sprint will offer the Samsung Within, Verizon's is called the Function and the AT&T Attain variation will be the first Galaxy S II with a QWERTY option.
Samsung recently announced that it had sold a whopping 5 million Galaxy S II handsets and with the US launch still to come, it's fair to say that this is Samsung's most successful Android smartphone launch yet.
We like the idea of the ancient names though - maybe the Samsung Samson next?
Anyway, the UK version of the SGS II has NFC sensors coming late this year.

When they come I'm going to claim on insurance and get a new one. I don't like having damaged aesthetics :(

Why the fuck are the US cellphone carriers that fucked up??
Also why aren't they using a standardized type of cellphone signal technology?

I get confused by all the different phone names from carrier to carrier.
Why can't we just use GSM instead of having CDMA and GSM?
All those on CM7 or MIUI for SGSII Nex-S Tweaks has arrived http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208198
Tweaks:
Permanent changed DPI to 200 (not changeable with init.d script, because of ro.) - DPI Version only!
Added zipalign binary
Zipaligning on each startup (only apps, which are not zipaligned yet)
European GPS Config
VoodooColor preparation (will be automatical applied, if VoodooColor Kernel is installed)
Dalvik Heapsize 70m

Disabled swapping
Increased dirtystate writeback times (less battery usage)
Optimized Memory Settings (minfree)
WIFI scanintervall 3min
Windowevents set to 60 (much smoother scrolling)
Cleanup sqlite3 Databases on each startup
Edit: Some users say it's not 100% stable/working for MIUI but CM7 is fine.
I'm new to Android... is my HTC Sensation rootable? I really want to use my PS3 controller with the PSX emulator but it requires root access apparently...

Also, a post by the lead designer of the HTC EVO 4G. Really, design wise, its the best looking phone out there. And I love the built in kickstand.

Lead Designer, with One & Co and HTC
2009, 12 months
HTC / Sprint
The World's First 4G Smartphone - I was the lead designer of this project while working at One & Co, San Francisco. It was designed in 2009 and took a total of about 12 months including follow-through to production.
It has gathered the 2011 Red Dot Best of the Best Award, 2011 IDSA IDEA Silver Award, and the 2010 Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum.
Evo 4G also broke sales records, selling more than 5 million units by June 2011, becoming Sprint's best selling device ever and HTC's most sold phone.

The Brief: Friendly Performance
As a consumer-oriented Android smartphone, Evo needed a friendly personality to differentiate from its Windows-based business-oriented counterparts. However, being slated to be the world’s first 4G superphone, it also needed to hint of performance and features. The design uses a crossover between a strong, chiselled shape and a soft, pillow-like back surface to achieve this hybrid personality. Reveals and detail callouts give added depth and notions of a powerful inner core.
Split Lines: A Problem used as an Opportunity
Battery door split-lines are normally put on the sides of a phone to try to hide them because they look cheap and undesirable. I thought the split-line could be a nice design element if proudly used on the back surface instead. This gave the phone an added flavor of technical crispness and made the sides look clean and solid, reducing the associaton with cheap, molded plastic products.

Visual Slimming: SmartPhone on a Diet
Additional requests for a bigger battery, integrated kickstand, 4G antenna system and bigger speakers made the phone look thicker than desirable. We added a high-contrast split on the side as a visual trick to maintain a thin, sleek aesthetic. This also created an impression of a thick slab of display glass that wraps to the sides and a back housing that had a sheet-like gesture, which was a fresh aesthetic.

Big Camera Component: Feature Emphasis & Problem-Solving Through Form
One of the biggest challenges was to include an 8MP camera - it was a huge component. While it was a requirement to highlight this key feature, it shouldn’t feel unnaturally big or loud. To create this balance, I needed to find an aesthetic solution that would somewhat mask the component size, and one that would look honest and purposefully ‘camera-like’.
This led to a spherical design that partially protrudes the outer surface of the phone. It created an interesting and iconic character akin to an eyeball sitting in a socket. I liked that it had the notion of the phone as a housing for powerful, intelligent, internal components.

Becoming an HTC Signature Camera Detail
The EVO camera solution proved to be a visually effective solution for wrapping big camera components. At the same time, it was a good balance between being iconic and honest. It has subsequently been adopted (and evolved) by HTC, and reapplied on several production phones - becoming a signature camera detail of the HTC 2010 design language.

Final Production Version
Evo was launched by Sprint on June 4th, 2010. The full black version as the default and the white-black version shown here as the special edition. It broke first day sales records for Sprint and also became Best Buy Mobile’s best selling device. On June 19th, 2011, Evo broke the ‘5-million units sold’ milestone and became Sprint’s best selling device in history, as well as HTC’s most sold phone ever.

Complete Production Follow-Through
For Evo, I had the chance to work directly with the engineering team from the start, and all the way through to production. The close collaboration was a long process, with a lot of back and forth between engineering optima and design ideals, but it was crucial for a good outcome.
Challenging the Component Layout
As lead designer, the early stage provided me a rare opportunity to be intimately involved in negotiating how components were arranged so that design was not just a compromised after-process of trying to skin a preconfigured layout. Ideally, we want to preserve the initial design vision, and arrange the components accordingly.
This required a lot of collaborative problem-solving - sometimes the solution came from the engineers; other times, we had to either find a way around it or make design changes.

Production Refinement
In the later stages, we collaborated with the engineers to ensure each unnecessary hundredth of a millimeter was squeezed out, and component locations were fine-tuned so that the exterior was visually balanced. Colors and finishing were also tweaked at this stage. This experience greatly benefitted the process of my other production projects.

As the first 4G phone - and one that is positioned as a processing powerhouse - we had to deal with significant component sizes and antenna constraints. Despite all the technology that is packed in, we managed to achieve a visually slim profile and a light-weight gesture - especially apparent when Evo is laid on a surface. First Google Ice Cream Sandwich devices may launch in October
We’ve received some information from a source with knowledge of Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich plans, and it’s looking like the first Ice Cream Sandwich devices could start hitting the ground in as early as October. We have been told that Google is looking to push up the release of Ice Cream Sandwich devices as Apple’s iPhone 5 is expected in September or October, and the Mountain View-based company doesn’t want potential customers coming out of contracts (especially original DROID owners) and “drooling over the iPhone 5.”
Worst news ever regarding Samsung and Apple
They need to fuck off
An Apple spokesman said: "It's no coincidence that Samsung's latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad, from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging. This kind of blatant copying is wrong, and we need to protect Apple's intellectual property when companies steal our ideas."
YOUR BOX IS A CUBOID ANNNND HAS ROUNDED CORNERS
It would get interesting when both of them can't sell anything during the trial. Then at least they'll hurry the fuck up with their solution.
No Galaxy Tab 10.1 in everywhere in Europe but the Netherlands, because we don't take orders from the germans. I wonder how the dutch lawsuit ends, mostly because of the fact the dutch court is slightly ahead in these kind of things compared to the german court.

rated winner because of Netherlands having their own mind.
Seriously, Apple should die already. Hopefully some Apple stores get destroyed in the England riots :v:
Why can't we just use GSM instead of having CDMA and GSM?
Because GSM is 2G and CDMA is technically 3G? HSPA can't be considered a form of GSM.
Also the US has no standard because the typical American just believes marketing, they know nothing about technical specifications.

Wow. Just....just wow. SIM cards aren't exclusive to GSM. They're also used with UMTS. Get your facts straight before coming in and trying to act like you know your shit.
Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is a third generation mobile cellular technology for networks based on the GSM standard... UMTS combines three different air interfaces, GSM's Mobile Application Part (MAP) core, and the GSM family of speech codecs.
It's highly evolved from the base set of GSM standards. That doesn't make it GSM.

Doesn't matter. Once Steve Jobs dies Apple will die. If he hadn't had come back they would have died a long time ago. It's just a matter of time before Apple loses their vision, because Jobs has been doing all that for 14 years.

Anyway, I'm going to Thailand on Friday. I'm thinking of picking up an Android tablet, anyone got price guides? From what I saw everything is cheaper than in Russia (and there are no fake Honeycomb tablets yet)
My friend is trying to decide what phone to get, the EVO 3D on Rogers, or the Nexus S on Telus.
I told him to go for the Nexus S. Opinions?
