So Apple patented a black rectangle with rounded corners? Well, they can sue pretty much everyone, including my mousepad manufacturer.
android is a blatant attempt at counterfeiting the iPhone and thus really needs to be removed from the market, and google needs to become a subsidiary of Apple (due to the massive damages they owe Apple which should exceed the google market cap.)
Oh man, I just want to hear what Xerox PARC thinks about this.
The ZTE Skate came out two days ago at Orange UK under the name 'Monte Carlo' for £149 ($242). Not too bad. I probably would have got it If I hadn't got my SGSII by now.

Upgrading my phone to Android, don't have the money for a top of the line phone. I'm looking at probably a max of £25 a month. Any advice on what phone for that price would last me for the next 2 years?

Looks like the Xoom might be off shelves too because apple are suing them too
Apple is being a fucking buzzkill.
My guess is that all these companies will get together and make sure apple gets ALL patents that are too broad revoked and unable to be re patented.
Bloody hell Apple, why are you afraid of competition. Why do you fear product evolution. You'd be nothing with out these, technology would be going no where in the mobile world with out the competition! We'd still be stuck on iPhone 3gs hardware as they'd be no need to upgrade.
One of those "coming soon" deals, pretty sure PS Vita will be running Sony OLED screens, and soon after that, Sony phone screens. sRGB and NTSC have a difference of about 5% and my stupidity range is greater than that. :v: What about color temperature? S-IPS is around 24 bit color, or 65-70 percent sRGB. Overcoverage is considered to be worse than undercoverage, if DisplayMate can be trusted. At any rate whatever covers 100 percent color gamut used by the OS is good, with a 6500k white point.
Well I'll clear up some of your concerns. The Nexus S uses calibrated settings by google. If you lay a Nexus S beside a Galaxy S you wouldn't even think they were the same screen. From what I'm reading the Nexus S screen is at a white point of EXACTLY 6500K. It's not the bluish "ice white" that the original SGS has. I can confirm this by using the Nexus S settings on my original i9000. The SGS II also uses these settings. As for color temperature. There is no need to change it on the SGS II. For the original Galaxy S we had a mod known as voodoo color. Supercurio was the developer and he happens to be a highly educated expert on both mobile hardware and software. According to him the screen on the SGS II doesn't suffer the oversaturation problems and color temperature problems of the original. The original suffered from the bluish tint temperature because of the degrade of the blue subpixels. Samsung explained this at one point and I forget all the details. I've seen the display in person multiple times(I spend a lot of time at the mall) and it suffers from none of the issues my SGS does.
Goddamn, the ZTE Skate has to come out less than a week after I bought a ZTE Blade :suicide:
Awww yeah finally got myself a new phone, complete with android and everything :v: it's running on 2.2, should I update it to 2.3.3? Motorola Defy btw. (Not the best I know but w/e, waaay better than my LG cookie. Also, ZTEs are hard as fuck to find in Brazil.
Goddamn, the ZTE Skate has to come out less than a week after I bought a ZTE Blade :suicide:
Return it and say you expected an AMOLED Screen, then buy the Skate.
Return it and say you expected an AMOLED Screen, then buy the Skate.
I am not in the UK, the Skate has yet to come out here. Should've waited until Christmas.
Goddamn, the ZTE Skate has to come out less than a week after I bought a ZTE Blade :suicide:
return it?
return it?
Just tell them that I don't like the phone and would like to return it? You can't just return a phone to the store after 1 week of use, can you?
yes you can you got a whole month to return it [editline]10th August 2011[/editline] consumer rights etc and bla bla
Just tell them that I don't like the phone and would like to return it?
Yes, you can, they sell two variations, TFT and OLED, just say you were not expecting the TFT version and you want a refund.
My bad, OLED not AMOLED.
Yes, you can, they sell two variations, TFT and OLED, just say you were not expecting the TFT version and you want a refund.
From my experience, any vendors are willingful to do that, especially if you've changed your mind to get a better (and more expensive) cellphone. They might also want to dump all the olders ones, so be wary of what you're going to say. Say something witty, like, "I heard there was this new one called 'Skate'", I'm 80% sure that the vendor is going to offer it to you. What about Motorola Defy? What do you guys think about it? Is it outdated already? Etc. I'm loving it.
Well, seeing that my carrier got the ZTE Blade a month ago, I'd say they won't get the Skate for at least a year or two.
My bad, OLED not AMOLED.
ZTE blade is an AMOLED panel. Mobile OLED based screens have an active matrix so they're all AMOLED panels. In the mobile market if you attempt to always have the latest and greatest you'll find yourself spending thousands of dollars.

What about future android apps, how long is it going to endure then? Do I have A LOT to explore with it? Because my Cookie couldn't do anything at all, it didn't even have built-in WI-FI :v:
For me its just buy the best device available at the time, then upgrade when it becomes on the lowest end/breaks. Hence the HTC Magic - SGSII.
