So, if I just upgraded from a Cookie KP570 to a Defy, and I'm not THAT much into phones, I'm good? What about future android apps, how long is it going to endure then? Do I have A LOT to explore with it? Because my Cookie couldn't do anything at all, it didn't even have built-in WI-FI :v:
Cookie to ZTE Blade for me :v:
Heh, I upgraded from a Cookie to a g1.
Then I went from the oldest to the newest (at the time) by getting a SGS 2
For me its just buy the best device available at the time, then upgrade when it becomes on the lowest end/breaks. Hence the HTC Magic - SGSII.
Going to upgrade from Sony Ericsson W995 - SGSII in a few months.
3rd and first android phone ever.

wow lmao i've seen some bs things come from apples legal ventures but that is just tops
it's not even a ipad it's just a generic shape that the ipad could loosely fit under

Is this supposed to be some sort of gimmick relating to your name?
Is this supposed to be some sort of gimmick relating to your name?
Actually that was completely unrelated, this is my 2nd alt anyway. Thanks for the box though, I needed one to send back my shitty Droid X2.
Can anyone recommend me an app that tracks mobile data preferably with a widget that doesn't wipe after reboot?
3G Watchdog?
Well I'll clear up some of your concerns. The Nexus S uses calibrated settings by google. If you lay a Nexus S beside a Galaxy S you wouldn't even think they were the same screen. From what I'm reading the Nexus S screen is at a white point of EXACTLY 6500K. It's not the bluish "ice white" that the original SGS has. I can confirm this by using the Nexus S settings on my original i9000. The SGS II also uses these settings.
As for color temperature. There is no need to change it on the SGS II. For the original Galaxy S we had a mod known as voodoo color. Supercurio was the developer and he happens to be a highly educated expert on both mobile hardware and software. According to him the screen on the SGS II doesn't suffer the oversaturation problems and color temperature problems of the original. The original suffered from the bluish tint temperature because of the degrade of the blue subpixels. Samsung explained this at one point and I forget all the details.
I've seen the display in person multiple times(I spend a lot of time at the mall) and it suffers from none of the issues my SGS does.
That's good to know for newer SGSIIs and such.
is it normal to have a bitch of a time getting PSX4droid to work? just got an EVO 3D, haven't rooted it yet, but iirc that shouldn't have any impact on PSX4droid actually running. it runs, locks up when I hit OK to select bios, then when I can finally select the bios and go to launch a ROM, shit doesn't do shit. or, if it does do something, it just goes to a black screen with the notification bar visible and doesn't do anything.
i've tried: FF7 (all discs), Crash Bandicoot and Twisted Metal 2 (bins, of course), no luck. also tried a PBP for shits and giggles, didn't work but i wasn't even expecting it to
all of zongzh's emulators work fine so why is PSX4droid giving me shit?
[editline]10th August 2011[/editline]
oh and i've tried 3.0.6 and 3.0.5, both on SD and internal memory
[editline]10th August 2011[/editline]
i almost got a photon 4g by the way which holds battery and signal better, as well as being a tinge faster out of box, but i hate pentile with a burning passion and the only root process right now is ridiculous (as well as expensive).
I gave FF7 on 3.0.5 a whirl and it looks like it's working fine. It did lock up when I went to select a BIOS, as a matter of fact it FC'd and I had to go back in and try it again. Once I was able to select a rom the game appeared to be running pretty smoothly though, and that was off of the SD. I'm running CM7 on a Droid X.
the fact that i'm using the stock Sense ROM could be it but i'm somewhat certain that shouldn't be a problem
Yeah, and as you said I don't think root access would have anything to do with it. These emulators don't even need any permissions other than SD access and vibrate.
some have/request more than others but i don't think there's even any plausibility of a feature that could maybe need more than what's on offer on stock as it is.
i'm not afraid of rooting it i damn well will root it i just haven't devoted the time to get it done
What's a cheap Android phone for people in the US?
PSX4droid
:suicide:
That shit refused to work on my HTC Desire Z, while FPse worked like a charm.

Using this myself. Stores data for however long you want and it's pretty configurable too.

What will be the next big thing from HTC? We've seen it bring us its first LTE smartphone, first Windows Phone 7 hardware, and just today heard about its first NFC-capable device. It looks like we'll be finding out very soon indeed, as the company has sent out notices that it intends to make a "major announcement" tomorrow.
All we know for sure is that HTC's CEO, Peter Chou, will be addressing the press via teleconference, beginning at 11:30am eastern time. After he finishes up with his announcement, he'll be taking questions.
The big question is how major is "major". Will this be game-changing, like Nokia's decision to go WP7? Maybe it will be some new hardware; we know that the company has at least half a dozen smartphones planned for release by year's end. We've seen some, like the HTC Ruby which appears destined for T-Mobile, but don't know enough about their hardware and software to make any one seem like it might be up to the label "major". Could HTC have gotten the nod to manufacture the first Ice Cream Sandwich-running Android?
Any guesses? We'll know for sure tomorrow, so check back around noon to see what HTC's big news is
Please don't be a announcement about getting rid of the bootloader. Probably about their up coming tablet.

It's that HTC are partnering up with Beats audio for better sound in HTC devices.

I don't know what to think.
It's that HTC are partnering up with Beats audio for better sound in HTC devices.
It's so god damn pathetic. Instead of actually putting in a quality sound chip like a Wolfson they just go with what people consider "cool". Keep on trying to win those sales back with gimmicks guys.

That made me chuckle, good one :v:

I'll take the performance enhancing touchwiz over Sense every day every device.
